I visited my neighbour who was on short stay at Aspen Manor. They were very accommodating and having a Christmas Party which I was invited to partake in. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

This is an excellent care home. I could not be more contented, given the fact that my husband died after a long illness in June, the kindness shown to me has been and is exemplary. Full marks all round, visitors and family are always welcomed. It is a happy place.

My father was in Aspen Manor for just under 4 weeks before he sadly passed away. Because of the care of the wonderful staff, it gave us some quality time with my father which we will be forever grateful for. The minute you walk in the door you are engulfed with the same love and compassion all the staff
give your loved ones. The atmosphere at Aspen Manor is one of family and your family becomes their family. I cannot recommend this place enough.

My husband came to Aspen Manor for respite care while a bathroom upgrade was carried out. Initially, for 2 weeks, it became 19 days as work over-ran. In the end that was a benefit as the extra days helped with an increased understanding of his needs. He has Lewy Body dementia - a rarer type of dementia
with specific issues. He has very poor mobility, little speech, variable cognition, and severe hearing loss. Although these and other issues were discussed ahead of admission, and written information given, I felt it took some staff rather a long time to grasp their importance. Occasionally significant issues were overlooked.
However, from the moment of arrival, he was warmly welcomed, and the atmosphere of the home was relaxed and very friendly. All his care staff were kind and very caring, as were the house, kitchen, and management staff.
As understanding progressed through his stay, I have become more confident of and look forward to, requesting further respite in the future.

Following a fall at home and with a deteriorating neurological condition, we placed Mum in Aspen Manor Care Home initially for a period of respite care. The home is lovely with beautiful grounds, rooms, lounges and facilities and from the first phone call with reception staff to when Mum sadly passed
away several weeks later, the care the whole team provided was of an excellent quality. The staff were kind, caring, helpful and went out of their way to make Mum's stay as safe, effective and comfortable as they could. They were patient and able to give Mum their time while welcoming our regular visits as a family and involving us in care decisions. When it was time to accept that Mum had deteriorated and was in the final weeks of her life, the staff worked closely with us as a family to ensure that she was cared for in a way that respected her wishes, kept her comfortable and cared for with compassion, dignity and respect.

The home is still new so is very clean and beautiful appointed. But physical environments alone do not make a great care home - it is the people who work inside that is the real strength of Aspen Manor. From reception, accounts, carers, caters and nurses. They are cheerful, helpful, kind, and experienced.
It would be easy to single out one or two who really impressed but they are very much a team - and the whole is definitely greater than the sum of the parts. Weaknesses? Well, the lack of activities meant my husband spent a lot of time alone watching television alone in his room, but when I mentioned this good efforts were made to engage him in more activities.

This home provides fine facilities with staff that really exhibit a caring attitude. The home has become the home for both in-laws and they settled into the changes in their lives very well. It is welcomed to see that ‘strict’ Covid practices still remain in place. The staff do seem to go that extra
mile to ensure the comfort, care and wellbeing of residents. Although the number of visitors is controlled, as a visitor we are treated with the same respect and friendliness as the residents by all the staff.

I visited my nan and she was happy and the staff were friendly. They knocked when they came into the room and they were so respectful to my nan. She is so happy and my mum no longer needs to worry about my nan.

My father had 2 weeks' respite at Aspen Manor, they looked after him in a professional way. They're kind, caring and nothing was of trouble to them. He had a daily newspaper, a phone in his room, for no extra cost. Dad wants to go back next time I go on holiday.

This new home is beautifully appointed and has wonderful facilities. From the outset, the staff have been helpful and caring. It took a while for my husband to settle, and their caring attitude extended to me too. At the time of writing, there were only a few residents and so the lovely activity room
is not yet in use. Covid practice is still in place and the number of visitors is controlled. We have experienced real personal care and the staff have put thought into making my visits special. My one slight personal niggle is the piped music which doesn't always seem necessary but it probably adds to a cheerful ambiance for the staff!

Martine Blowfield

Martine brings over 20 years of experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN). Her career has been dedicated to complex mental health services and elderly community care, with 15 years spent in management roles leading teams to deliver exceptional care. At Aspen Manor, Martine's priority is to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment where residents receive person-centred care tailored to their individual needs. She is committed to upholding the highest standards of care, ensuring dignity, respect, and well-being for every resident. She also recognises the importance of supporting families during their loved one’s care journey, offering reassurance, guidance, and compassionate support every step of the way.
A key part of the role is fostering a positive and motivated team, ensuring staff feel valued and empowered to provide the best possible care.

Clair Johns

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Claire has been working in care for around 25 years now. She started her career in care when she was 18 and worked in a home for young adults with disabilities in Devon which is her hometown.
Clair started her career as a care assistant and decided to work in a dementia care home for the elderly, she loved it so much that she has worked in residential care homes for the elderly for the rest of her career to date.
Over the years she has completed various training which led to her completion of NVQ’s in Health and Social Care in Management.
Clair has worked for Alysia Caring since Aspen Manor opened in October 2021 and thoroughly enjoys her job as Deputy Manager.

Claire Paylor

Job Title: Customer Relations Officer

Joined: 2024

Claire is responsible for resident admissions and the liaison with families. She joined Aspen Manor in 2024 and has a background in HR, Corporate Relations and most recently Admissions in the Independent School sector. Claire lives locally with her family and was born in Oakham so brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to her role at Aspen Manor. She very much looks forward to meeting potential new residents and their families, guiding them through the admissions process and welcoming them to our lovely home.
