Avalon Nursing Home is a purpose built home situated in the heart of Bridgwater.

Avalon’s interior incorporates the latest technologies in nursing and health care systems and leading ideas in dementia care design. All rooms are en-suite, finished to the highest specifications where flat screen televisions come as standard.

All of Avalon’s rooms and a number of lounges overlook external gardens enabling easy access to outdoors at all times. Private living areas are complimented by an open plan living area in the centre of the home where residents can relax and enjoy a cup of tea with the friendly team. A number of rooms have their own private terrace, while the Sedgemoor dining room leads on the Avalon courtyard and gardens making for enjoyable Al Fresco dining in good weather.

A hair salon, cinema room and a varied plan of daily activities and events mean residents will always have something to do. Avalon’s central location also allows residents and their relatives the added convenience of having all the attractions of bustling Bridgwater on their doorstep.

The staff are amazing. My dad is very happy. The variety of stimulating clubs etc are superb. My dad is a fussy eater and the food he loves. Mostly the care, support and emotional attachment are inspirational. Dad's room is bright and beautiful - it is his little patch of his own space. Everywhere is
like the place I would like to go and would recommend it to anyone having to make this difficult decision at the time. The staff allow and support for them to find their feet. They encourage integration with others.

I have found this Care Home extremely good. It was recommended by a friend. The staff are very kind and caring and always keep me up to date with what is happening. My husband settled in well with all the residents and staff. There are lots of activities for the residents and as visiting is so difficult
at the moment it is lovely to see pictures on Facebook of the residents and staff during activities etc. I would certainly recommend the Avalon to my friends if in need.

My father was admitted to hospital last year and after being in there for 9 weeks it was deemed unsafe for Dad to return home due to his dementia as he lived on his own. Avalon Nursing Home was recommended to us and Dad was transferred to the care home. Due to covid I have only been able to visit the
care home once, however I only have praise for the staff of the care home who made the transition from home to care home as stress free as possible for my dad. Since he has been there it has been challenging but the staff have done a great job assisting my dad who's dementia is slowly getting worse. I would highly recommend Avalon Nursing Home, Bridgwater.

My husband was under Avalon Nursing Home's care for only 11 weeks before he passed away in his sleep in October. In that short space of time, he was so looked after and couldn’t of wish for better care in his last days. Thank you so much to all the staff and management, who were so caring, you're all
such marvellous people and should get recognised for more than you do! Especially in these difficult times with the Covid pandemic. Myself and my family would like to thank you all so much.

The nursing home is modern, very clean and welcoming. Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. My visits have always been relaxed and the residents and staff are cheerful! There is plenty of car parking and I have always been welcomed and supported fully by the members of staff. A wonderful home

My beloved wife was admitted to Avalon Nursing Home in Bridgwater on December 24th 2019. Due to the suddenness of my wife's deterioration and subsequent hospital assessment, we, as a family had no previous association with Avalon in Bridgwater.
The welcome greeting and immediate assurances that we
received were so totally genuine and calming. Our relief was instant and immense. Thank you.
From day one, all of our subsequent moments of visiting and contact have been without exception the very best that anyone could ask for.
We are all as a family so very grateful to you all for the constant care and attention that you have always shown to my dearest wife.

We constantly say how lucky we are that Mum is at Avalon. The people are great and have kept us in touch with Mum throughout the lockdown, through photos and video calls. We feel she is in the best place possible as they care for her, not just in a physical sense. All the carers and nurses are just
amazing. Mum's room is great, and the place is always clean, and they make the residents feel special on their birthdays.

At Christmas 2019, after a fall due to shingles and after months of medical treatment, my mother eventually came to Avalon House. She is in the best place she can be having lost her mobility and needing full nursing care and regular hoisting. The care worker and nurses look after her well and keep her
happy as she moves from bed to throne armchair. She enjoys the food and the church service activities, along with regular TV. The staff keep me in contact with Mum by video phone during the pandemic, and hopefully soon we'll be able to visit more often.

My mum has been at Avalon for three and a half years, she is happy and content, and the care she receives from all members of staff is second to none. It is a pleasure to visit the home as there is always a warm welcome and space to spend time with your loved one in their room, one of the lounges or
the individual family room. The activities team keep the residents busy and under normal circumstances, take residents out and about. Visiting has been difficult due to Covid, but the staff have been keeping in touch with updates, WhatsApp calls with mum, emails and general communication regarding mum's health and wellbeing.

I have complete confidence in all the staff at Avalon but particularly the nurses in charge. They have all looked after my husband in a caring and patient way. I do get updates all the time and reception inform me of any changes in rules regarding COVID recently. I have no complaints and I am grateful

My sister is always well looked after. She is happy, and I know the staff care for her needs.

It was with a heavy heart that we had to put Mum into care. We viewed a few homes and were delighted when we viewed Avalon. It felt very homely and very clean. The staff were very kind and helpful. Mum seemed very settled after a week or so and we realised it was the best decision we made. Unfortunately
because of the virus, we have not been able to see her as much as we would have wished but the staff have kept us informed and have sent us photos of Mum. They have also answered any emails that we have sent. We are very happy that Mum thinks of it as her home now.

When we first saw the home, we loved the set-up, the design, layout of the rooms and the friendly staff. When any of the family visits Mum, we are made to feels as if it is Mums home. The staff always show Mum the greatest of care and love. During the lockdown, we have been kept so well informed, we

My wife continues to have the very best of care from a dedicated staff and management team. During the covid-19 lockdown, the hands-on staff, nurses and support staff have a very involved daily routine, which cannot be faulted. I started my journey as an HCA in various care homes. I then progressed over to the activities team, using my creative skills from theatre dramatics. I have also had hospital experience Facilitating activities working with various teams such as Occupational and physiotherapists.
I always like to use a holistic and person-centred approach which I think led me to become a “wellbeing coordinator”


Combining enhanced care and activities, with the community and family connections in mind, as well as improving diet and exercise.


My favourite activities to provide are cooking sessions and movement to music. I also love pet therapy sessions.
I love working with people and I love using my skills to make a difference. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
