My father moved into Badminton Place on 6th November 2024. The facilities are first class and the hospitality and acceptance that he has received from all members of staff has been second to none. On 30th Jan 2025, he celebrated his 103rd birthday and again all members of staff provided him with a birthday
party to remember, for which he and our family are extremely grateful. We as a family are so pleased that he is comfortable and well cared for in this super establishment, and once again I cannot thank all the staff enough for their support and understanding in helping Dad adjust to his new environment.

Reply from Philip McAllister, Customer Relations Manager at Badminton Place

Ensuring our residents feel at home, comfortable, and supported is at the heart of everything we do, and your feedback means the world to us. Exceptional from start to finish!
Requested an assessment and was moved in within three days.
The whole team pulled out all the stops to make it happen. Care plan in place, registered at doctors etc., all done. All staff, without exception, are helpful and kind, could not do enough. One particular
staff member even came to work early, to ensure all clothes were labeled and put away. I have no doubt, I have the best care home for my cousin and the look of joy on her face when she arrived confirmed that. Thank you all so much.

Reply from Philip McAllister, Customer Relations Manager at Badminton Place

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and thoughtful words. It truly means so much to us to know that your cousin's move into our home was a smooth and positive experience. We understand how important this transition is for families, and we are so pleased that we could help make it as seamless and reassuring as possible. Our team genuinely cares about every resident, and hearing that their kindness and dedication made a difference to you and your cousin is incredibly touching. I will make sure to share your lovely comments with everyone, especially our staff member who went the extra mile to ensure everything was just right. Most of all, knowing that your cousin's face lit up with joy when she arrived was the best reward we could ask for. We feel privileged to be part of her journey and will continue to do everything we can to make her feel safe, happy, and at home. If there's ever anything more we can do for you both, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Lovely place but that's about it. Unbelievable amount of neglect towards the patients that family and friends have witnessed and brought to the staff's attention, which most just ignored. Sadly told my mum had passed away from a heart attack but now have find out she had choked to death (ongoing enquiry).
At
least 10 managers have left since my mums care started and the few good staff they've had have all left. Don't be fooled by the looks of the home. The care is disgusting and boarding on inhumane.

Reply from Philip McAllister, Customer Relations Manager at Badminton Place

I want to start by expressing my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your mother. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this has been for you and your family. Please know that we are deeply sorry for the pain and distress you have experienced.
We are fully committed to understanding what has happened and addressing the issues you have brought to our attention. As you are aware, there is an ongoing investigation/enquiry involving our Home Manager and Operations Director to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding your mother's care. We are working diligently to ensure that all concerns are taken seriously and that the investigation/enquiry is both thorough and transparent.
While we acknowledge there have been some staff changes in the past, our current team is very experienced, stable, passionate, and fully aligned in their commitment to the well-being of all who live here. We continue to be committed to making meaningful changes to ensure every resident receives the care, dignity, and respect they deserve.
At this time, I'm unable to comment further but if there is anything more you would like to share, please do not hesitate to contact our Operations Director or our Home Manager with whom you have been meeting. Your voice is important to us, and we are here to listen and support you during this difficult time.

The staff at Badminton Place have been very supportive and helpful, answering all our questions to help my father settle in. He has been here four days and is beginning to understand that he only has to ask to get his questions answered. There have been a few hiccups along the way but the staff have
dealt with them professionally and speedily. The food is excellent, surroundings very comfortable and the staff are kind and caring.

My dad has only been here since the 29th of October after staying 4 weeks in another home. From first impressions, not only is the home beautiful, the staff are so kind and friendly and nothing is too much of a bother for them. I would highly recommend it already! The standard of care and attention
to residents is top of the scale.

I visit my friend, who sadly lives with dementia. My friend appears to be happy and contented. The home is very lovely, caring and attentive nursing home, nothing is too much trouble. There has been some disruption with management and staff change recently and sometimes it feels that there is not enough
staff on duty to help. This has worried me and impacted on my expectations of my friend being looked after and heightened my anxiety of the unknown however I can truly say that, whilst still a little nervous and apprehensive, I have seen lots of new faces and long-standing staff throughout the home. (Not where they are usually as staff have been moved around). Everyone is always busy but staff and the new management always manage to find the time to chat with me, even if it feels like a quick hello. It is refreshing and reassuring to see the manager out and about chatting to residents and visitors and hugging staff! The home is starting to feel homely and relaxed. Thank you.

Reply from Philip McAllister, Customer Relations Manager at Badminton Place

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We're deeply touched by your kind words and are delighted to hear that your friend appears happy and content in our care. It's our utmost priority to create a warm, homely environment and we're glad this has been reflected in your visits. We are especially pleased that you find our team caring, attentive and always ready to help, despite the busy atmosphere. We truly believe that every interaction counts and it's wonderful to know that our new management, along with our dedicated staff, is making time to connect with both residents and visitors, even during a quick chat or a warm greeting. The small moments often contribute the most to fostering that sense of community and reassurance. Thank you again for your trust and ongoing support.

My husband spent two weeks in Badminton Place receiving respite care. It is fair to say he would prefer to be at home but he came home saying his experience was good. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The food was excellent and the care given was good, very good in some cases. I was impressed
by the management's help in setting up the two-week care, especially providing a recliner chair to make his visit possible. The staff are all welcoming and helpful and I am very grateful to them for looking after him, and me so well.

Reply from Philip McAllister, Customer Relations Manager at Badminton Place

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We understand how challenging it must have been for your husband to be away from home, so it truly means a lot to hear that. I'm glad to know that he found his room comfortable and that he enjoyed the meals. It's heart-warming to hear that the care he received was appreciated and I'm particularly pleased that our team could make his stay more comfortable with the recliner chair. We always strive to ensure that each resident's needs are met in a way that makes them feel at ease and I'm thankful we were able to do that for you both. We look forward to seeing you both soon.

We attended the bingo and bubbles event with Dad on Wednesday. It was so nice to see all the residents' families and staff taking part and enjoying the fun!

I required respite after an operation. Marketing was excellent however, it did not follow through. All the staff were caring and professional. Badmington Place is rated 5 stars, I unfortunately do not feel this is warranted. On my first night, I found my emergency button didn't work, stains on the carpet,
general cleanliness of rooms and lifts was poor. Food and especially management are very hit and miss, (too many chiefs). Three stars!

Following our conversation on your visit after your respite stay, I want to assure you that we have taken your concerns to heart. My close friends have been in care at Badminton Place for the last two years and have thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The attention of care by the staff (including support staff) has been exceptional. The Badminton team is always in contact should there be an issue or a change in living conditions.
I find their proactive approach to my friend's needs a definite asset in an industry where so many others are left unattended and neglected.
This care home, by other standards, sets the bar very high, yes costly but I don't think you can put a price on a loved one's health and care. Keep up the great work.

Terrible experience with a high turnover of staff including management and also staff who can be exceptionally rude. At one point I witnessed 4 staff doing a jigsaw together and totally ignoring the residents in their "care". They frequently rush lunchtimes and do not allow the residents time to finish
their lunches independently, preferring to feed them, which I feel does not support their dignity and starts to make them more dependent. My experience on one occasion was that a resident was eating play dough, and on another, my father was left sitting in wet clothing shivering without socks or a jumper - the excuse was, "he must have spilt something". There appears to be a significant problem with theft as several brand new items of clothing have vanished whilst others have been shredded from new in less than 3 months. The dining room floor has not been properly washed and the table legs have food detritus on them. This causes numerous flies in this area which is not sanitary.

My parents both moved into Badminton Place in October 2023. It was a difficult transition for them both, being a traumatic and sudden change of circumstances. Since their arrival, my mother has commented on several occasions that they both feel very well looked after; the regular staff have got to know
them both well and respond positively to their needs and requests. In particular, my father (who has dementia) has benefited enormously from having a greater interaction with both staff and residents.

Following my own personal experience I would not recommend anyone to leave their loved ones in this facility, four managers in the space of just over a year! Appalling service for residents, extremely high turnover of staff and many agency staff.

Reply from Chelsea Bligh, Customer Relationships Manager at Badminton Place

Thank you for taking the time to review our home. You will appreciate, I'm unable to comment on individual cases. We have tried to reach out to you personally prior to this review, attempting contact on the phone and email.
Transparency is key and it is important for me to share some information with you:
- Our manager is the 3rd manager here at the home - the home opened with a commissioning manager (experienced in setting up and opening homes) and it is very common for these managers to move on once the home is established. Each manager has enhanced the home and developed the team positively.
- We are recruiting for care roles and use agency to cover sickness or late holiday.
Our residents' wellbeing is at the heart of all we do, and again I always welcome and encourage feedback that will enhance a resident's experience with us. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further given we're unable to discuss with you directly. Our manager would be available at a time that suits you.

A beautiful facility that is sadly let down by insufficient staffing and a lack of coordination with an ever-changing stream of agency staff and the loss of key people. The basic daily care especially personal hygiene has been insufficient over 7 months despite excellent senior carers attempting to
hold things together.

Reply from Chelsea Bligh, Customer Relationships Manager at Badminton Place

Thank you for taking the time to review the home.

I appreciate your concerns regarding staffing, the home is now fully recruited for care roles and use agency to cover sickness or last-minute holiday. We have a great relationship with our new agency which means the agency colleagues feel very much part of our home team and this allows for great continuity of care. Residents and families are commenting on these relationships with positivity. Our care team are dedicated to making a difference and work hard to build relationships with every resident to ensure they feel supported, cared for and very much at home.

As you will have experienced, when concerns are raised, we work in partnership with families to understand the concern and put measures in place to rectify these and meet regularly to ensure progress is being shared.

From when we were first shown around, the care taken to help my father to have all his needs met, making sure the room was arranged right, and trying different foods to help with his eating problems. Dad's health has improved under the care of the home. This care home has totally changed my view of
care homes, it is so good.

The staff at Badminton Place have gone above and beyond when welcoming my granddad. The care and attention has exceeded our expectations as they truly give a personal touch to each individual. Helping him to settle in where he is very happy. Fun activities, day trips and themed socials!

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
