After an extremely stressful past two months with the decline of my mother's Alzheimer's, it became apparent to myself and brothers that she would need to have 24-hour care. We searched around the area and viewed a few places and our last visit was to Barley Manor Care Home.
When we arrived, we had
a lovely, warm greeting from the client services manager, she showed us around, spoke to us of her own experiences with her own mother, which was very personal and open. We had a long discussion with her, which made our choice a whole lot easier.
My mother was discharged from hospital straight to Barley Manor, the transition was seamless, the staff were very welcoming and put her at ease.
She was adamant she didn't want to stay but with their attention to detail and the way the staff have listened to her needs, she is now settling in very well and even taking part in activities which is a joy to see for us all.
Her care has been exemplary. A great place for our mother to be.

We have been very pleased with the care given.
The staff have been very attentive and caring.
They have strived to make my brother-in-law as comfortable as possible and he is settling in gradually.
They have made his life much more tolerable and the management has helped us in every way possible.

Following a challenging time in hospital for my mum after a fall at home, we needed to find some local short-term respite care for her before returning home. The team were exceptionally welcoming from initial enquiry through to show around and Mum moving in.
Barley Manor Care Home is more than I could
have ever hoped for in care. After worrying for a long time, the step change from home to 24-hour care, I shouldn't have as the team has cared for Mum so well and now has stayed full-time. A beautiful home for a loved one putting both her and me at ease. Thank you.

Very welcoming environment from the moment one enters reception. Friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere, very clean. Resident's bedroom is spacious, spotless, including en-suite facility. Ability to personalise the room with pictures and possessions to make room more homely. Staff available to discuss
any issues and reassure resident.

I needed to find a care home at very short notice for my father, I called the care home at 11 am and by 2 pm, everything was in place to receive him that night. We arrived late at night (around 11 pm) and were met by four members of staff who took care of everything, making him feel comfortable and
secure on his first night in a strange bed. It was an amazing feat by the team at a time when we desperately needed a home for Dad.
Since then, the care has been first-class at every level, from just looking after my father to taking care of his medical needs: all of the team are lovely, the facilities are first-class (think five-star hotel).
Putting my father into care was an immensely difficult decision: reflecting on it 2 weeks later he ls so happy there and thanked me for doing it; this is down to the amazing facilities and staff at the home without which I doubt he would be as happy as he is.

Generally good, sometimes there seems to be staff shortages, this could be due to recent opening. Television provided - disappointed there is no catch-up facility.

The family chose this home because of its proximity to hospital where my wife was being treated. The staff were all very kind and accommodating and flexible in meeting my wife's changing needs. It was lovely to see the staff working together as a team for the benefit and comfort of the residents and
the visiting family and friends.

Since moving here, he seemed to settle in very well and adapted to the new routine.
The staff, all of them, are very kind and friendly, they always have time to chat.
The room is lovely. The home is beautiful.
If there is an issue, there is always someone to listen and help.
Food is lovely most
of the time.
During the summer, mainly, but now as well, we have to find someone to unlock the door to be able to go out for a walk, which isn't always easy but understand why!

I am 86 and suddenly, through family circumstances, decided that I should be looked after in a Care Home. I wanted one near my home and was shown round five, staying for two weeks in one. However, as I was shown round Barley Manor Care Home, there was no choice. It felt so welcoming and comfortable
that I booked a room immediately. I am finding that I have many friends visiting as there are well used shops nearby and so many of the residents have friends in common. It is like having a large, happy family which includes the staff who are so willing to help and so caring.

I had, in the past year, started to consider whether it was sustainable as a 90-year-old to be living alone. I had a fall 6 weeks ago and broke my hip, resulting in a 4 week hospital stay. The hospital was pressing me to return home but while in hospital, I decided to move into residential care. My
daughter came to visit Barley Manor Care Home (they saw her at very short notice) and a room was available which I took on a respite basis. After a week at Barley Manor, the support and care (and friendship) I received from all brought me to the decision that I did need to be in residential care and that I wanted that to be at Barley Manor. There is a very friendly feel to this care home between both staff and residents and also the relatives of residents. I feel my dignity is considered always and I am receiving great care.

We needed emergency respite care for my dad and the home was very helpful in sorting this out over a weekend. From the start, the staff were excellent - very attentive to Dad's nursing needs and very caring and thoughtful in the way they looked after him. They all went above and beyond what was required.
The room itself was very comfortable and peaceful with a lovely view onto the garden. As visitors, we were made very welcome. We are very grateful and would strongly recommend Barley Manor Care Home.

My brother-in-law moved into Barley Manor Care Home about a month ago. At the time, I told friends and family that he was moving from two-star to four-star care. I'm now telling them that he has moved to five-star care. He has settled in really quickly, has become much more coherent and responsive.
He always seems to be smiling which was not the case before. All in all, the move has been a wholly positive experience.
I should add: the food is delicious and he is putting on (much-needed) weight.

My mum was the third resident at this newly opened care home, so inevitably there was a degree of uncertainty as to whether there may be any problems as the operation got going. I had been very reassured by my visits and meeting the staff: the design of the home made it feel homely despite only having
a few residents; there was a full team of staff who had already been in place for several weeks before opening; the staff that I met were very professional and caring; the decor and furnishings were very high quality.
Our experience has more than lived up to initial impressions. The staff are all delightful, friendly, attentive and caring. There is a lot of effort put into ensuring the residents are comfortable, secure and stimulated. The food is excellent. Visitors are made to feel welcome and offered good facilities. Communication is excellent. It is very reassuring to know that Mum is being very well looked after in a comfortable, caring environment.

We needed emergency respite care for both our parents. Management and their team were amazing at sorting out places for them both, at very short notice, over a weekend. Our parents are enjoying their second week at Barley Manor Care Home and already I feel the staff know them both very well, catering
not only for their individual medical needs but also aware of what they enjoy doing. They think of everything, down to the smallest details. The food is amazing too. It will be difficult to get my dad to leave. Here's hoping they decide to return for longer respite. You really are in for a treat. This place is like a five-star resort with staff to match who genuinely seem interested in the residents. The team at Barley Manor go above and beyond to ensure everyone's needs are met and that we are kept informed. Thank you! We could not have got through this fortnight without your amazing care.

Hello, my name is Narcis, and I am the Home Manager here at Barley Manor Care Home.


I have worked in the senior care sector for almost ten years, before which I was a firefighter and a paramedic. I have been a qualified nurse since 2014, which is also the year I moved to England. Throughout my career, I have been a home manager at several other care providers.


Looking to the future, I am excited to form a reliable, strong and enthusiastic team who will work together to provide exceptional care and establish our home as a top choice in Cambridgeshire for nursing, residential, dementia and respite care.


Outside of work, I am a big fan of sports, particularly skiing, boxing, football and fishing. I also have two children aged six and one, who I like to spend as much of my spare time as possible with.

Hello, my name is Denise, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Barley Manor Care Home.


I have over 20 years of experience in the retirement sector, nine of which I spent managing a sales team.


Looking to the future, I am excited to work with a new team to successfully launch our home and see the positive results of everybody’s hard work.
