I cannot stress enough how the wonderful staff at Barley View were in caring for my brother in his later years. He was treated with kindness, patience, love and total professionalism. It was very comforting to me and my family knowing that he could not have been in a better place.

Thankyou so much for your kind words, I will make sure that this is passed onto the team.

After visiting many care homes we chose Barley View. We are so glad we did. It is great. The staff are all so welcoming and friendly. My parents love it. They enjoy the food and hospitality. They love the days out and the entertainment, especially the singer! Can't fault the care they are getting.

I am a friend of one of the residents, I come a few times a week since she moved in a few years ago. Before I was her carer until she needed full-time care. What I have seen with most of the residents is a wonderful change, they have a lady who started not long ago who does entertainment, the residents
join in more and seem very happy, she is so friendly and caring, she is a credit to Barley View. All the staff and management are wonderful.

Mum has been a resident for nearly five years. She is on Willow as she has vascular dementia. She has deteriorated over time but throughout she has been happy and jolly. I have been very happy with her care and of her carers. A little disappointed to have had many managers and different structures to
work with. Overall, the systems work well. Now we have full-time activities, should be even better for residents.

From the minute I contacted Barley View in regards to my Mum's care the management have been amazing- they did everything they could to help me make the move as seamless as possible. The care my mum has received over the last 6 months is first class. She looks great and is always clean and tidy and
nicely dressed. In every photo she has a cup of tea in her hand - I can see what she’s doing from the wonderful photos that are posted. The activities are varied and they try so hard to make them meaningful to the residents. Moving Mum into a care home was a hard decision but I know she’s in a first-class environment.

My mother has been a member of the Barley View community since February 2019. She was, initially, apprehensive about moving from her own home but she was welcomed warmly by management and staff, who helped her to settle in. Her room is attractive and well furnished and is kept very clean, as is the
en-suite shower room. The meals are well planned, with the help of a dietician and residents and relatives are consulted re. food suggestions. Residents are encouraged to join in the many activities but no pressure is put on them to take part.
I would like to give special thanks to the exceptional staff, who, daily, go out of their way to care for the residents, especially during Covid and the resulting lockdown. Nothing is too much trouble. The carers have looked after my mother superbly through a stroke and she has a wonderful rapport with them. My family and I are very grateful to them. I have recommended Barley View to several people. Many thanks team. x

My father had a very happy last three months of his life at Barley View where he was (in his own words) "treated like a friend". He made friends with the staff (four of whom even attended his funeral) and with other residents. It's a shame this period of happiness could not have continued but his health
took a turn for the worse. I would certainly recommend this care home, it is quite pricey but worth every penny. I am happy that we persuaded Dad to relocate here and so was he. I have recommended it to two people.

The residents I've seen all seem contented and the staff appear to interact with them very well. It is a very pleasant environment and my uncle is very happy there. He has had a few problems, not related to his care, that I've had to sort out, but I must say the manager and her team couldn't have been
more helpful and understanding.

Mum went into Barley View for a weeks respite just after Christmas and she was treated with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, we had to take mum back in March, this time for permanent care. Staff have been helpful, kind and caring. I know mum is safe and well looked after. The food is hot, nutritious
and tasty. All the staff know the residents as it's a small care home where everyone is made to feel welcome and cared for. It is clean, well maintained and spacious. There is a nice garden area to enjoy when the sun decides to shine and there is a patio area at the back which I'm hoping mum will use in the warmer weather. Overall, it's a place I hope she will soon be able to call home - she has her own en suite room which we have made as comfortable as we can with family pictures etc.
My Dad and I have peace of mind that she is being cared for and looked after.

Making the decision to put your loved one into a nursing/care home is not easy, particularly when they do not understand it is in their best interest. Finding Barley View was the best thing we ever did. The care, patience and kindness displayed by all members of staff is exactly what we wanted for our
loved one. As every day goes by we realise how lucky we were to discover Barley View. We cannot express how much it means to know that your loved one is safe 24/7. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Barley View. Thank you to every single member of staff.

Barley View is an excellent facility and the care provided is first-rate. My Mother moved there four months ago and is extremely happy. The carers have formed good relationships with her and they have fun together as well as providing a high standard of professional care. The food is good and the courtyard
garden is a lovely, safe place to sit out.

The carers are good some are very good although all caring and mum loves them all. Beautiful place and glad to see it hasn't lost its homely feel. Immaculately clean and the food beautiful. The laundry lady is fab.
Good activities although some carers don't seem to help her. Gardens are lovely.

On visiting Barley View for the past 6 months, I have found it very welcoming to visitors and think that the residents seem very comfortable and well-fed and cared for.
I particularly like the spaciousness and light in the home and think the bedrooms are very cosy and roomy.
The staff always have
a cheery word for visitors too and you can always get a cup of tea.
Excellent.

Since moving into Barley View in March my Mum has settled really well.

Our mum and her family were given the most wonderful welcome when she arrived at Barley View and she has received outstanding and loving care since.
All the staff are professional, know the residents very well and treat them all with respect and warmth.
The rooms and communal areas are lovely and
all the food delicious, homemade and catered for the individual residents.
Mum always looks very well cared for and often says, "I like it here".

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.193)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.193) out of 10 for Barley View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.800 for Barley View is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.8

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.393 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barley View is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.893

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
