Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge is a purpose-built modern care home. It provides friendly care within a comfortable and relaxing environment. The team are pleased to be continuing to welcome permanent residents and those who wish to join Buckingham Lodge for respite care.

The home provides residential care, which is personally tailored to meet the individual needs of customers and enhance their quality of life. Anchor works with customers and their loved ones to create detailed care plans. This ensures each individual’s health and care needs are continually met. Anchor prides itself in dementia care and provides on-going training to care staff to ensure their approach always reflects best practice. Buckingham Lodge is also a pet-friendly home.

I visited Buckingham Lodge Care Home to visit a resident, who was celebrating her 80th Birthday.
I had already heard from her daughter what a fabulous place it was and how good the staff were and whilst it was only a visit, I have to agree wholeheartedly! I was delighted that the home implemented
careful covid procedures upon entry, but were also extremely welcoming. Seeing a card, presents and giant 80th Birthday badge, the staff member made a big fuss that it was another visitor for my friend and was seriously excited for her, when I said I was not expected, but was a neighbour of hers from over 20 years ago! I was led to her room and everything was meticulously clean and all the residents looked really happy. A little later, a number of staff came in with the most beautiful homemade cake, singing happy birthday! It was obvious that they cared deeply and you could see how comfortable my friend was with them. Absolutely brilliant and congratulations to all the staff!

One of the team leaders at this home is my mother's main carer and is a star. She provides monthly catch-ups that are informative and a shoulder to cry on when a visit has been stressful.

Buckingham Lodge is an amazing care home, always clean and tidy and since my mother in law has been living there (over 2 years now), they have made her feel welcome and comfortable!
The staff are always friendly, helpful and lots of fun and have been great recently, when her health deteriorated and
they helped to keep her spirits up!

I came into the home in November 2019, after the loss of my husband. It has been a difficult couple of years due to severe depression but the carers and managers have always treated me with patience and respect. I am now feeling a lot better after getting the help I need and feel grateful to be in such
a lovely home with wonderful caring staff.

My nan has been a resident in the home for over a year now, putting someone in a home is a heart-wrenching experience especially as we were in the middle of lockdown and couldn’t settle her in or visit. My grandad had previously been in Buckingham Lodge so we knew the home and felt after visiting lots
that Buckingham Lodge definitely was the best, and we still believe this, in lockdown staff were like warriors, battling against staff shortages, a pandemic that was traumatizing the world, yet to my knowledge no residents caught COVID. I’m pretty sure they kept their whole community safe… now how many homes/communities/establishments, etc can say that. Staff are warm and welcoming and look after a very challenging client group, my nan does many activities in the day and sadly forgets them by evening, this doesn’t deter the staff they continue where they can to provide a structured day. No home is perfect, but patients are put first here, and that’s exactly as it should be.

During what has been the most incredibly difficult of times, the staff at Buckingham Lodge have been amazing! When I was unable to visit my mother during lockdown, I received regular updates regarding her wellbeing from the Team Leader. These phone calls and emails, as well as photographs, were a huge
comfort throughout those weeks when we were unable to visit our families. This vital communication helped enormously. Carers face the most considerable challenges on a daily basis and to continue to provide such a great service during a pandemic is a credit to them all. Thank you so very much for your hard work and continual care and patience.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Lodge for taking good care of our mother for these past years. A special thank you to her carers who made her stay at the home a memorable one, with lots of care and affection towards her needs, especially during the last few months.
My mother came to the home not knowing what to expect after being taken care of by her family for several years. After a short time, it was clear to see that she was welcome,d which felt very comforting and reassuring. During her stay, she had a wonderful time with her family and the staff who made it feel like a special place for her. I recall my sister during the church service, referring to Mum saying that "she was proud to call the Lodge her home".

Where do I start, Buckingham Lodge has made a very difficult decision easy, putting our dear mum into a home was something we never wanted to do.
Unfortunately, it got to the point we had no other choice.
From the moment Mum went there for respite, we knew it was the only place we wanted her to be.
The
staff are amazing, I've never seen anything but genuine care and compassion.
Mum has struggled to settle in, but they have helped her every step of the way.
Obviously, things have been difficult in the last few months, but not once have I had any worries about the care she is receiving without us there.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you all do.

My mother originally went into Buckingham Lodge for respite care with a view to long term if she settled. The respite was for one month, and during this time, Mum was looked after very well. I was also given support as when I decided it was in Mum's best interest to become a permanent resident it was
still a very difficult decision to make with the usual emotions such as guilt. The staff were amazing to both Mum and me. Ten out of ten!

Mum was exhausted and struggling to look after Dad. We finally came to the decision that Dad needed to move into a care home, and we knew where we wanted him to be - 'Buckingham Lodge'. Shortly after making the decision, we were hit with Covid-19 and lockdown, which made the situation even more difficult,
but despite some very hard decisions and after speaking with the home manager, who gave us lots of reassurance, Dad moved in on 13th April 2020. The home itself is welcoming, bright and immaculately clean. The staff have been very supportive and have worked hard to ensure Dad's first few weeks have gone well. Although we have not yet been able to visit due to Covid-19, the staff have been available to talk to whenever needed and kept us updated with newsletters. We look forward to seeing Dad in his new environment when restrictions have been lifted. All staff have worked so hard and successfully kept their residents safe at this time, and I commend them for their efforts.

My mum has been a resident for over 18-months, and as a family, we have all been very pleased with the way she has been looked after. The care delivered by the staff is really exemplary; they are really caring and look after mum with dignity and respect. The only negative comment would be that sometimes
communication can be a little slow, but that’s being picky!
What matters, is the level of care and at Buckingham Lodge, they deliver it really well.

The administration has appeared to improve considerably in recent months, however, communication to get direct information regarding a resident is quite difficult. This has, of course, become more of a problem during the current coronavirus situation, when visiting is not possible. It is difficult to
get the name of a carer, who has the necessary continuity to give a quick update on a given resident. However, this is not meant as a criticism but more of an observation of something that could be improved. Thank you.

Buckingham Lodge is an excellent care home, my father has been here for two years and during this time I have been happy with his care in a beautiful environment with excellent facilities. The staff are very caring and always welcome me into the home. If I have any issues the team do their best to sort

I would recommend this home to others although I feel there is a very high staff turnover which I don’t think helps with the smooth running of any home.

The care that is being provided to nan and all the service users is excellent. I know that she is being cared for impeccably especially in these isolating times of covid-19 when we are unable to visit. We receive regular updates from the care home and see lovely photos on social media of the activities
the service users are doing with the carers and their birthday celebrations. We are very grateful to the whole team at Buckingham Lodge for providing the help and care which nan requires. A very big thank you to the manager and his team.

Over a very difficult period, the care gran has received has been incredible, she really has been looked after. She loves all the staff but the Home Manager and area Manager especially. She has been a little under the weather recently but as a family, we really feel she has been kept an eye on and how
she perks up when getting visits from the managers is great to hear. Regular calls and video calls have been amazing too. Genuinely impressed with the support and care she is receiving.

I would recommend Buckingham Lodge to anyone. It is run by a very competent and caring manager with staff who are equally kind and caring. My husband has severe Alzheimers and is very disabled so needs a lot of care which is given with respect and love.

My Mum has been living at Buckingham Lodge for the last 18-months and we are very happy that she is looked after well, and the environment there is always very friendly which is manifested by the way the other residents always chat to our family whenever we visit. It is good that she has some regular
carers that she is fond of but does find it frustrating that agency workers are not familiar with her needs. So the only criticism I would have is that more permanent staff are needed, but I appreciate the difficulties with this. The managers are very quick to respond to any request or concerns that we have, and Mum enjoys being able to attend the Church services and craft sessions that they have arranged. The receptionist is always very welcoming and helpful too. I must say that the way the home has responded to the Coronavirus situation is very commendable,# and pleased that they have helped us stay in touch via video calls with Mum.

Hello!


My name is Simon, and I am the Home Manager at Buckingham Lodge.


I am originally from Lancashire but moved to Buckinghamshire at the age of 18 years. I have spent all of my career working in adult social care, mainly in the charitable and not-for-profit sectors.


I’ve worked across all of the different care sectors, and I believe I have gained a good understanding of the issues that people in our care experience, as well as an appreciation of how daunting it must be to move from the family home into residential care. The thought that I am in the privileged position of being able to influence and have a positive impact on people’s lives is very motivating and rewarding for me.


I am also passionate about supporting our staff to develop and achieve to the best of their ability. If we have a happy and engaged staff team, we should have happy, well-cared-for residents and a happy home – everyone matters!


If we can put each individual at the centre of all that we do, we can ensure that our residents are fully involved in all of our decision-making processes, enabling us to deliver care and support that is as individual as they are.


Away from work, I am married with two children and a dog. If I am not at Buckingham Lodge or at home (or out walking the dog), I can be found following the mighty Preston North End around the country.
