Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge is a purpose-built modern care home. It provides friendly care within a comfortable and relaxing environment. Each bedroom has an en suite wet room and underfloor heating as standard.

The team are pleased to be continuing to welcome permanent residents and those who wish to join Buckingham Lodge for respite care.

The home provides residential care, which is personally tailored to meet the individual needs of customers and enhance their quality of life. Anchor works with customers and their loved ones to create detailed care plans. This ensures each individual’s health and care needs are continually met. Anchor prides itself in dementia care and provides on-going training to care staff to ensure their approach always reflects best practice. Buckingham Lodge is also a pet-friendly home.

Buckingham Lodge gives a welcome vibe as soon as you set foot in the door. Nothing is too much trouble and the home is always clean and well maintained. My mother is really happy and looks on Buckingham Lodge as home. Good to see activities and interaction with staff.

As a Family, we were very anxious and unsure of the process when planning on moving our relative 120 miles from her home town to Aylesbury. However, I cannot commend the staff at Buckingham Lodge Care Home enough. They all made the process so easy, reassured us throughout and have made us feel more
than welcome since our first visit.


The care they provide is great, all members of staff are genuinely caring and are keen to know the individual residents history and interests to make the transition as smooth as possible. The staff are very proactive with improving mobility, helping residents interact and calling the GP when necessary.


The home itself is modern, accessible and well kept, the corridors are wide and bedrooms/bathrooms are spacious. There is plenty of homely lounge space and a varied timetable of daily activities which the staff encourage residents out their rooms to participate in. All the staff are enthusiastic and take part in the activates with the residents.


The food is lovely, a daily menu is displayed and there always seems to be a great variety throughout the week. They also have healthy snack and hydration stations which are a great way of encouraging residents to keep their fluid intake up.


Overall, we are more than pleased that we moved our relative into Buckingham Lodge Care Home and we would thoroughly recommend it to other Families.

I was very worried and nervous about admitting my mum to a care home. She had fiercely resisted the possibility of having to leave her home of 60 years and I wondered how I was going to overcome this as she has Alzheimer's and is no longer able to live an independent life. I called to see Buckingham
Lodge and was immensely impressed with the quality of the building, furniture and fixtures. I was given a very warm welcome and made to feel that my mum's needs were paramount. Mum was assessed in her own home on the Tuesday and I took mum on the Thursday. I stayed for lunch, which was delicious and cooked on site. There were healthy snacks and drinks available all day for the residents to help themselves to. Tea and cake/biscuits were served in the afternoon. I was given a comprehensive list of things needed on arrival and the paperwork was made as easy and painless as possible. My mum settled really well very quickly and when I left, she was sitting in an armchair chatting to some new friends. I can't wait to visit tomorrow.

My Mother who has lived with us for the past 8 years now has Parkinson's and due to my wife's poor health I was no longer able to care for mum properly, We visited and researched several homes and the whole family concluded that "Buckingham Lodge" was the easy winner with superb facilities, excellent
rooms wonderful staff and management teams and all at a fraction of the cost of other homes in the area. We and my mum were made to feel important and felt confident that mum would be well cared for. We are also able to visit any time of day or night (within reason) and been offered to stay for meals whenever we visit (as long as we let them know in advance).


The whole family are extremely happy with the care mum is receiving and have no worries about her continued safety, welfare and happiness.

Lovely calm atmosphere and friendly staff have made my mother's difficult move into residential care much easier. Food is good, layout very cosy and well thought out. For example small quiet sitting areas instead of just large communal areas. The dining area is spacious and activities take place there.
Very happy with communications with the home.

My mother has just spent two weeks of respite care in Buckingham Lodge and the care was exceptional. We felt immediately welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My mother spent most of the day in the main lounge area where at least one carer was always present and activities were undertaken.
The carers treated the residents with such kindness and there was a great deal of support available. The atmosphere was very homely. Furthermore, the meals were excellent, both in terms of choice and quality. I would have no hesitation in recommending Buckingham Lodge to anyone.

The Care Team at Buckingham Lodge treat each of their residents with kindness, dignity and respect. They encourage family and friends to visit and are very responsive to feedback. The location allows for residents to walk to and from the local shops and residents are able to be part of the local community.
There are different lounges including a quiet lounge, where residents are able to mix with each other and be supported by the care team to take part in different activities. I recently attended a musical afternoon where a singer performed to residents, their visitors and the care team. It was heartwarming to be part of an afternoon that the residents really enjoyed, many of them singing songs from the past and dancing.
The food created by the Chef and his team is superb and he spends time with each new resident to discuss their favourite food. The dining room is spotless and family and friends are able to come for a meal with the residents.
The team have an open door policy and we can visit at anytime but at all times the security system is in operation.
On a Friday the hairdresser provides a great service to the residents in the hair salon. My Mum really enjoys her weekly trip and this is a very important part of Mum's week.

The staff at Buckingham Lodge are kind and caring. This is a well run Home. There are enough staff to provide proper care for the residents. The Home is well run and the Manager very helpful. We used this Home for respite care and would be happy to return and to recommend it to others.

Mum moved into BL in June 2015, one of the first residents at this new care home. Everyone at BL helped Mum to settle in, they are very attentive to the residents needs and we feel that Mum is now happy and content. The building is very light and bright, Mum's room is very well equipped and decorated,
there is even a small fridge incorporated into the furnishings! The food is very good, all cooked from fresh ingredients. Family are invited to join their relatives for Sunday lunch, tables in the restaurant are laid with cloth table cloths and napkins, that along with the food make Sunday lunch a very enjoyable experience. Residents are encouraged to participate in various activities so they are NOT left to sit around staring into space or sleeping. The acid test - could I live there, definitely Yes!

My husband had two weeks respite at Buckingham Lodge. Over the last 5 years we have tried 6/7 different homes and this is the only one he would go back to so many, many thanks to all the staff for taking great care of him and giving me a much appreciated break with peace of mind!

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello!


My name is Simon, and I am the Home Manager at Buckingham Lodge.


I am originally from Lancashire but moved to Buckinghamshire at the age of 18 years. I have spent all of my career working in adult social care, mainly in the charitable and not-for-profit sectors.


I’ve worked across all of the different care sectors, and I believe I have gained a good understanding of the issues that people in our care experience, as well as an appreciation of how daunting it must be to move from the family home into residential care. The thought that I am in the privileged position of being able to influence and have a positive impact on people’s lives is very motivating and rewarding for me.


I am also passionate about supporting our staff to develop and achieve to the best of their ability. If we have a happy and engaged staff team, we should have happy, well-cared-for residents and a happy home – everyone matters!


If we can put each individual at the centre of all that we do, we can ensure that our residents are fully involved in all of our decision-making processes, enabling us to deliver care and support that is as individual as they are.


Away from work, I am married with two children and a dog. If I am not at Buckingham Lodge or at home (or out walking the dog), I can be found following the mighty Preston North End around the country.
