Under new management and ownership since March 2023, Burscough Manor is situated in the village of Burscough near Ormskirk, Lancashire. The home offers luxury residential, dementia and specialist/complex nursing care, provided in a friendly, safe and secure environment.

At the 80-bed care home, all rooms are stylish and complete with an en-suite. Burscough Manor combines the best of technology and modern design with the highest levels of premium comfort and care.

More like a five-star, boutique hotel than a care home. Excellent staff and great management team. 'Hats off' to the manager and her management style. Everybody is so very thoughtful and caring.

My nan went into Burscough Manor Care Home for three weeks. The home is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. My nan has been very well looked after and has had a great time. The food looks and smells amazing, beautiful views and lots of activities keep everyone busy. The bedrooms all have en-suite
like being in a hotel. Cannot praise this home enough.

My husband was admitted to Burscough Manor Care Home having spent three months in hospital. He was on an end-of-life package so sadly only spent a short time in your care. Our family and all his friends, who visited him there, were impressed by the organisation and standard of the home. We felt the
staff, in every way, were outstanding and caring and we thank you so much for your kindness and professionalism which were second to none.

I see a constant improvement week on week in the facilities/equipment, knowledge and abilities of staff and the activities and entertainment available. The staff are patient and understanding of my mum's dementia, even when things are difficult. Staff keep us well informed.

Friendly management and staff are attentive to the needs of all in their care. Rooms are spacious and airy. All areas of the care home are kept beautifully clean and any items of maintenance that arise are quickly dealt with. There is a varied menu, with dietary needs being met and the food is nicely
cooked and presented. Where able, residents are encouraged to participate in a range of activities. Charges are commensurate with the standard of care provided. Thank you, Burscough Manor.

The new entertainment organiser does group activities and one to ones with residents. Seems to be well organised, introduced herself at the beginning. Hopefully my mum will get plenty of stimulation each day. Keep it going. Mum enjoyed the coronation celebrations. Thank you.

I have nothing but praise (on behalf of my sister) for the care she received at the care home before returning home. Everyone was so kind and caring and thanks go to the kitchen staff, carers, nurses and reception.

Home from home the title says! this place is anything but! On first appearance, it looks fantastic. My brother who is 66 and has Alzheimer's went in for some respite recently. When he went in he could go to the toilet with our assistance. However, it became quite apparent in the first few days that
he was being left to dirty in his pad. This was such a heartbreaking thing for us to see! Even though we constantly asked for them to take him to the toilet. He came out a few weeks later a shadow of himself with his backside all burnt where he had been left to wear pads for hours on end. We constantly reported this to the nurse in charge and were always told she would have a word or they couldn't get the staff!
Imagine if this was your mum dad, brother/sister. No one should have to go through this! He wasn't being cleaned or showered properly. We had to do this on several occasions, these are basic needs and they couldn't get that right! I could go on but it is a short review.

Mum stayed at the care home for respite care. She settled well, and all her needs were addressed and taken care of - nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Throughout her stay, she voiced how kind and helpful everybody was.
As a family, we felt that the care she received was excellent; there
was always a nurse/carer in attendance whenever needed.
The room she was allocated had access to the outdoor area, where she sat when the weather was good; this enhanced her stay.
Mum used the services available hairdresser and podiatry and was pleased with the attention given.

We paid a visit to see a resident. We were impressed by the modern, clean environment and the care given by the staff. We were given coffee and the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The resident we visited has a comfortable room and she is complimentary about the staff and meals.

My mum has been at the care home since 23rd September 2021. During that time she has had unbelievable care from all the very lovely staff. I have visited her once, as I do not live locally, and she is much better in herself and happier than she was previously which is very reassuring. My sister lives
locally and she visits 2 to 3 times a week and she is very happy with how my mum is and all the staff could not do anymore. They are very kind and empathetic. I would highly recommend the care home.

My nan came to the care home after a stay in hospital. She has been treated with compassion and kindness by all staff. The understanding of her dementia needs has been excellent and lots of extra effort has been put into her care in order to accommodate her needs. Something I have really appreciated
is the honesty of all staff, if my nan has had a tough night we are always informed, this gives such peace of mind.

Mum has been in this home for 6 weeks now. The whole experience has been very positive and all aspects are excellent. The home, although new, is really clean and bright. All staff are excellent and very, very caring, attentive and reassuring to Mum.

Lizzie

Lizzie Brighouse

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2023

Lizzie has been working in care for over 10 years. Joining Sandstone Care Group in 2022, Lizzie has progressed through from Clinical Lead to Deputy, now being Home Manager at Burscough Manor.


Lizzie has a Master's Degree in Nursing, along with a passion for complex and palliative care. Lizzie is currently partway through completing a further Master's in Palliative Care.

Kirsty Faulkner

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I have worked in the care sector since I was 18 and I have worked my way up from a care assistant to a senior care assistant. While working in care I completed my level 2/3 NVQ health and social and even progressed to complete my CHAPS degree within the company I worked for which also led me to further my career and become a unit manager.


I joined Ribble Court in 2022 as a senior care assistant then moved to Burscough Manor in March 2023 and got promoted to unit lead on the two dementia units and then was promoted to deputy manager in November within a short space of time.


Sandstone Care is an amazing company to work for. The whole team are very involved in the standards of care that all residents receive. Building a world that makes a positive difference to those in later life is a passion of all the team.


At Burscough Manor, we all work as a team and work to a high standard to deliver person-centred care to all residents in our home. Knowing that we truly make a difference in a person's life is the most rewarding. I love my job and the team. I am currently completing my level 5 leader and management course at the unit to progress my career further in years to come.


Andrew

Andrew Mason

Job Title: Clinical Deputy Manager

Joined: 2021

Andrew joined Sandstone Care Group in September 2021 as a registered nurse. He has since been internally promoted to Clinical Deputy Manager in 2023.


Andrew assists the Registered Manager with the everyday running of the home and ensures high-quality person-centred care is being delivered at Burscough Manor at all times. This includes but is not limited to, recruitment of staff, audits, medication management, reviewing care plans and having 1 to 1's with the residents.


Andrew has worked in the care sector since the age of 16. At the age of 24, he became a Mental Health Nurse and worked with the NHS for over 12 years. Since then he has worked in care homes, progressing from Nurse to Head of Nursing and now his current role as Deputy Manager.


Andrew is passionate about his job and likes to work alongside other passionate employees in Burscough Manor Nursing Home, to ensure the residents have the best quality of life they can possibly have.
