Our Brother moved into Castleford Lodge this year, he settled in extremely well right from the 1st day. The staff are friendly and without doubt, give outstanding care. It's a lovely, calm relaxing place, a real home from home. We as a family are very happy our Brother has a home in the lodge, can't
thank them enough.

My partner has been with The Lodge for almost 2 and a half years. This care was 2nd to none with all staff being very friendly, helpful, and supportive. My partner passed away in early March and I can't praise the team highly enough for letting me know immediately how he was treated, with respect and
tender loving care. Truly a fantastic team who do care,

I would like to say that over the last few years, my brother has been looked after extremely well. He has a lot of challenges and his health can become rather complex - on a few occasions, he has had to go into hospital. If it wasn't for the caring staff at the Lodge, he would not be able to look after
himself. I am extremely grateful that he has been happy at the Lodge and is allowed his own space.

Castleford Lodge Care Home offers a very friendly 'home from home' environment for my son. It enables him to be semi-independent within the home but also gives the security of having staff available at all times. I really appreciate the manager and staff who always do their best for my son and often
go the extra mile for him in many different ways.

My husband sustained a brain injury 2 1/2 years ago and was allocated a place at the Lodge in late September this year. Sadly at this same time, he was diagnosed with oral cancer, the staff at the Lodge are without a doubt outstanding. They have put so much in place for him including having to take
him to Cardiff every day for radiotherapy and ensuring he eats well to build himself up. For the first time, all this began I feel my husband is in safe hands and is happy there.

My brother has been a long term resident at The Lodge, during his time there his physical and mental well-being have improved. His mental health is fragile and the staff take great care to support him during low periods. The staff go over and above what is expected. Our mother recently declined in health
due to dementia, The Lodge supported my brother at this time. When my mother passed away last year they arranged for two staff members to attend the funeral with my brother and looked after him at what was a desperately sad time.
I can't speak highly enough of the care he receives.

I have known and looked after the resident for more than thirty years until it was obvious that special care was required. My friend has benefited from the residency at Castleford Lodge immensely and continues to do so.

Well done all involved and much thanks for your professional and patient approach.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.271)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.271) out of 10 for Castleford Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.896 for Castleford Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castleford Lodge is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 9 registered maximum number of service users is 1.8, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
