Exceptionally friendly staff welcoming us on our first visit. Nothing was too much bother for any one of them. First class care home,with happy residents in beautiful surroundings. All staff were sincere and knowledgeable regarding our resident there, thank you for your care.

I was here for respite care with nursing support. The carers were warm, sensitive to the patients and well-trained. They came quickly, usually when called. There was a positive, cheerful and cooperative attitude binding carers/nurses and management. In a way, there was a good team atmosphere. Difficult
patients were handled kindly and professionally. These patients with problems of claustrophobia, but good mental and physical health, can be reminded by the carers that they are free to leave the building. The cooked breakfast here was superb!

Our long-term friend and neighbour began her stay at Chawley Grove Care Home just before Christmas 2022. We are really impressed by the staff and the facilities. She is being well looked after and is very happy. She is enjoying getting to know the staff and has developed good, friendly relationships

Respite was arranged at short notice due to a sudden change in family circumstances which created a difficult situation. Management were extremely helpful throughout, supporting the wider family to make long term decisions and working with external services as needed.
Staff were extremely kind and
helpful on the phone and when we visited, making us feel welcome and included.
Day to day care was good. Facilities are excellent and we are grateful for the care provided at short notice.

A calm atmosphere pervades on entry and all staff are courteous and helpful. Numerous activities are arranged for residents and a diary of events is published and distributed to each resident. Any minor problems that may arise are quickly and efficiently dealt with by the home manager. A pleasing place

Sincere thanks to all the staff involved in Mum's end-of-life care at Chawley Grove Care Home. As Mum's health declined the communication and support from management, nursing and care staff was excellent. The care we received as family members, as well as Mum, helped us navigate her last few weeks as
positively as possible and ensured that she had a peaceful and pain-free death in a supportive, comfortable environment. Over the six months that Mum lived at Chawley Grove, the staff were efficient and respectful. They did their very best to ensure Mum felt welcome and had the opportunity to engage in activities that she could enjoy. When we visited we felt like we were part of the Chawley Grove family - greeted cheerfully and with updates on how Mum was doing. When things were challenging we especially valued the openness and honesty of the management team and their respect for our views and suggestions. Few people actively want to live in a care home but, for those who need it, we recommend Chawley Grove as a safe, comfortable, cheerful and caring environment. To everyone involved in delivering Mum's care - an enormous thank you, you do an amazing job!

Since I moved into the care home I have had a very happy and contented time. The staff are like family. Everything is excellent - the room I put as good as it was without a mirror when I moved in - this has now been rectified.
I am very lucky to have chosen such a good care home as I need both nursing

My husband's stay was very short but he felt immediately comfortable and cared for. He thought the meals were excellent and loved his lovely en-suite bedroom. The whole atmosphere was calm and reassuring. The building itself is wonderful, airy and bright. It felt very homelike, especially with the resident

Well maintained and decorated new building. Helpful staff. Menu choices look to be good, although I didn't see any of the meals to judge. Room sizes are good and we were able to move things around to suit Dad. Communication online was good. Still waiting on some of Dad's items to be found - was there
any point in an inventory. We are still missing one item that came in with him and have had to buy a new one. Dad came home with an open wound/sore on his bottom - I suspect he was left to manage on his own with the toilet and cannot use his hands properly so maybe did not clean himself adequately - leaving a sore. He also did not move around enough, maybe not encouraged to as possibly short-staffed.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Firstly, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your comments about our team - they are dedicated to delivering an outstanding care experience for each and every one of our residents, and we are incredibly proud of them.
We were sad to hear that Dad developed a sore after leaving us. At Chawley Grove Dad was always assisted when using the toilet and when moving around the home, and a skin integrity check was completed the day before the end of his stay with us with no skin issues at all. We hope that this has now healed.
We loved having Dad here with us at Chawley, and following on from his break with us we are absolutely thrilled that Dad has decided to join us on a permanent basis - he is a very welcome addition to the Chawley family and we can't wait to have him back.

We, like many, had worries about putting my father-in-law in a home but after our initial visit to Chawley Grove Care Home and meeting the manager we had all our worries put to rest. We had visited other homes but this one stood out by miles. The home itself is like the grandest hotel and there are
lots of different activities for the residents to partake in if they so wish. The food is wonderful, the staff are outstanding and the grounds and rooms and mutual sitting areas (private and social) are all that we could have wished for him. He has settled well and is enjoying everything this home has to offer. We can not recommend it enough.

I am only ground crew in the royal air force and think the garden is well looked after, the laundry is well kept. The manager is working very hard trying to get more clients in.

Chawley Grove Care Home has been a fantastic step forward for my father. I see it as an improvement in his quality of life and being there has enabled him to achieve things again that would have not been possible in his home environment. The facilities are well managed and all the staff are caring,
kind and considerate. My mother (who also suffers with dementia) is able to visit on a daily basis and everyone is kind and welcoming to her. My father’s behaviour has been challenging at times but he has received nothing but love and kindness. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to others.

Why have I put good, not excellent in some boxes? 1) Occasional, temporary workers do not adhere to the principles which the home generally inculcates. 2) Occasionally the essential encouragement of the residents to join in activities provided is missing because the social person is needed to replace
an absent helper. 3) We are concerned about the price being put up since we stretched my mother's finances to the limit in order to place her near me so that I can visit her four out of seven days. I am able to judge the most important thing about my mother's care according to her reactions. Every day on the phone or with her I can ask how she likes being there - she likes the staff, has made friends and is happy. At 99.5, long may this continue!

I had been in hospital for nearly three weeks with stomach ulcers and had had strong medication to avoid operations etc. When I arrived I was very weak but getting better. The noise and short staffing added to shouts of dementia patients made sleep impossible. So by coming here the peace and comfort,
added to the kind staff, soon made me feel relaxed and peaceful. I now feel able to look after myself and go home. The food is beautifully cooked too. It's interesting to meet such diverse staff.

My daughter, who is seriously disabled and a wheelchair user, has just come home after a first respite visit lasting for a fortnight. Her first remark was 'it's lovely, can I stay longer next time?'.
The staff are kind, caring and careful, building excellent relationships with the service users and
their nearest and dearest.

My father recently passed away, spending the last six months of his life at Chawley Grove.
The staff did everything possible to support, care and help him; I cannot praise them highly enough.
The home is beautiful and really well equipped.
Whilst protecting the residents from this awful pandemic,
they have also looked to be responsive with the changing rules to enable residents to have as much contact as possible with friends and family, recognising the huge benefits that contact bestows.
I thoroughly recommend Chawley Grove to anyone looking for care for an elderly one in the Oxford area.

I cannot recommend Chawley Grove highly enough. The home itself is delightful - it has a lovely atmosphere and everything is modern and very clean. But what really makes it special are the people who work there. Everyone I met had such a clear interest in making my aunt's stay with them as happy and
comfortable as possible. My aunt was very ill when she arrived - it was clear that she did not have long to live after an extensive stay in hospital. The staff at Chawley Grove could not have been kinder and more welcoming and did everything they could to make her last days as happy as possible. I particularly appreciated the way that they bent over backwards to help us see my aunt so that we could spend as much time as possible with her within the Covid-related guidelines. This meant that the people closest to her could say goodbye properly. She received first-class medical care, and it was clear that the highest consideration was being paid to her needs and wishes.

Chawley Grove stands out amongst other care homes I am acquainted with in every way. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly and have done everything possible to make my stay comfortable, supportive and centred around my individual needs. I have appreciated the quality and availability of the
nursing staff who are on hand 24 hours a day. Likewise, the physiotherapy service which is knowledgeable, person-centred, friendly and supportive. The quality of the meals and the flexibility of the menu, for someone like myself who has a special diet, has been delicious and reassuring. The spaciousness of the rooms, the decor and comfort are unique in my experience of care homes. The environment is light, airy and contemporary and feels more like a hotel than a care home. There is a good choice of activities, including a cinema and hairdresser. This home has provided the perfect environment for convalescing from an operation and I would return and recommend it without hesitation.

Ana Martinez Gonzalez

Job Title: Clinical Lead

Ana is Chawley Grove’s dedicated Clinical Lead. Qualifying in Spain with a Degree in Nursing before gaining a Level 5 NVQ in Health & Social Care Management, Ana has thrived in Health & Social Care since 2014, working in care roles in Germany and in Oxford. Ana's expertise spans complex health needs, notably dementia care and care home management. Outside of work, Ana is a qualified Personal Trainer and enjoys keeping fit.
