Chilterns Court Care Centre is located close to the centre of bustling Henley-on-Thames, right next to the new Townlands Health Campus.

This modern but homely care centre provides nursing, intermediate, specialist and residential care, with a dedicated and professionally trained team on hand 24-hours a day, seven days a week, Chilterns Court will offer you the support you need when you need it.

Designed for comfort in mind, based on small household units, Chilterns Court feels like a traditional home with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The large single bedrooms all have en-suite facilities, with assisted bathrooms also provided on each household and all rooms have digital television and telephone points. Each household is arranged in small units, each having their own living area, sitting room, dining room and kitchen. There is also a central destination area for residents to enjoy including a café, shop, hair salon and activity area.

The building is furnished and decorated throughout to a high standard, with interior design consultants having given special consideration to dementia needs whilst keeping a domestic feel.

Outside, is a secure landscaped garden, including features such as raised planters with sensory plants, seating areas and a summer house.

    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

Someone could show resident their TV or radio on a daily basis to encourage them to fill their time. If a carer could take the resident out for short walks. A daily break out of Chilterns Court would be beneficial ie the river. Maybe advertise for someone with spare time to come in and engage with residents.
Encourage dog owners to bring their pets in.

My mother has been at Chiltern Court for nearly 4 years; during this time any little concerns that I have had have been addressed straight away, which is great. The staff have always treated me kindly and with respect. I always feel welcome when I visit.
I do however, sometimes bring Mum's clothes
home to wash and often find other people's clothes in her wardrobe! I think there is room for improvement in housekeeping. Overall a great team. The activities are absolutely brilliant and we are kept up to date with all events.

My husband was in Chilterns Court for three months until his death. He was so well cared for. The team at the home are exceptional in all departments. He improved medically and to my surprise joined in activities (wonderful entertainment organiser). He died suddenly and I will always be grateful that
we had a happy last few months.

Excellent - we were so impressed by everyone at Chilterns Court and the care they gave my father. It's a friendly, happy environment with a team of caring staff who make an effort to make new residents and their relatives feel welcome, valued, and involved. We all appreciated the effort given to tailor
activities to individuals like my father who would never normally want to participate. We were apprehensive when we decided he needed to live somewhere with facilities to help him maintain his dignity but we couldn't have been more impressed. We were all so pleased he settled in so well and was very content giving him a new lease of life for his final months. It's a very special place and we would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to care for their loved one.

My mother who was on respite for two weeks is fully disabled. She had been sitting in a soiled nappy for hours. I rang her at 10.16 in the morning, and at 2.30 when I got there she was still sitting in the same soiled nappy. The lady lied to my face telling me that she wrote in the book that she had
changed her at 11 am. This is the 2nd floor, mum was told off and told by the same nurse to stop calling them. They don’t do one-to-one care. After she had been sick making her feel like a burden. Some of the staff are very good, but some most definitely are not. This place should be investigated. My mum told me that she had taken the nappies I had brought for her and used them on another patient. Mum had been taken to the hospital because of sickness, diarrhoea and low oxygen levels. My mother hasn’t got dementia so knows what is going on.

I felt that my mother was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. She came back home 'whole' which hasn't always been the case when she has needed respite care. The facilities and home were clean, friendly, warm and welcoming and the staff were wonderful and understanding. We as a family are grateful
and would recommend to others.

My 92 year old mother is being looked after with love and attention. She has dementia. I'm very impressed with the level of care and attention to detail, across all the staff. She has settled in well and seems quite content. It's a huge relief!

My uncle became a permanent resident at Chilterns Court following a period there for respite after a stay in hospital two years ago. He is hoisted from his bed to a specialist wheelchair enabling him to leave his room. He has limited movement and therefore socialising is most important. I would say
that activities have been poor but understand this is about to change having met the newly appointed activities person. Laundry is rather random, my uncle has plenty of clothes, all named but as an example, there were few socks in the drawer this week and he was wearing odd ones! A few items have appeared which are not his so improvements could be made. However, most importantly, I feel totally reassured he is receiving the best care possible due to the kindness of all the staff who make for a happy, relaxed and friendly environment. At present his health issues ar stable and he appears quite happy and content. My thanks to all.

I cannot speak more highly of all the staff I encountered during my stay at Chilterns Court Care Centre, Bluebell ward. Chilterns Court Care Centre is a happy, caring and nurturing environment situated in a modern, light and airy building. There is a real sense of family in the Chilterns Court community and my mother is happy there. The staff are so friendly and it is run efficiently by the manager and her team. My mother
says the food is delicious and nothing is too much trouble. The only area of improvement, which they are working on, is more activities for residents.

The standard of care at Chilterns Court Care Centre is generally very good. The staff are all very caring and attentive. Where there are shortfalls, these are almost always due to the shortage of staff, which seems to be a constant issue. I am confident that my mother, who is living with dementia, is
in safe and caring hands.

1. Chilterns Court Care Centre is a relatively new building and it is a very pleasant environment to live in. My wife has Alzheimer's and is on the first floor which has two TV rooms, two small lounges, a place to eat which is available to prepare tea and coffee. On the ground floor there is a very
pleasant and large area with comfortable chairs, tables, a soft drinks bar area with snacks available and a very pleasant view which is accessible to residents and relations to meet up in. Outside there is a quadrangle with plants and a potting shed for residents and relations to relax in during summer months.
2. The caring staff are very friendly, pleasant and competent. The residents have a wide range of dementia states some of which require residents to be fed and the staff do this as required.
3. Each resident has their own room which is large and has an ensuite area with toilet, sink and shower. You are encouraged to furnish it as you wish.
4. Relations and friends can visit at any time.

My father moved into Chilterns Court Care Centre three months ago - I had visited several homes and this was my first choice. The home is modern, bright and clean. The carers are kind, friendly and professional. The initial information about what to expect/what families are responsible for could have
been better communicated. My father seems content and well cared for. His room is lovely and the staff have made great efforts to let him personalise it. I'm always welcome to visit and am very happy with our choice.

Joanna

Joanna Dowejko

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2013

Joanna Dowejko is the Home Manager at Chilterns Court. She joined the Trust in 2013 and has twelve years’ experience in the care industry. Jonna has completed a Master’s Degree in Nursing and is studying towards her Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social care.


Joanna was inspired to become a nurse by her mother, also a nurse who she looked up to from a young age. Joanna choose this similar path after seeing her mother care for others. She said: “I like to spend as much time as possible with my team and residents. I make sure that all the residents are well cared for and receive first class personal care.”


In her spare time, Joanna likes to read books and try out new recipes when cooking.


Denise

Denise Hayes

Job Title: Care Leader

Joined: 2008

Denise Hayes is the Care Leader at Chilterns Court. She joined the Trust in 2008 and has worked in the care industry for thirty years. Denise has two Level 3s in Health and Social Care and Dementia Care.


Denise’s responsibility is to support residents, their families, and colleagues. The most exciting part about Denise’s role is to help residents live their lives to their fullest. Every day is different and brings a new challenge.


Denise’s fondest memories are of the home dressing up for every Christmas, and of working shifts as Mrs Christmas, asking for dolls from the local community for doll therapy, which had a brilliant response from the residents. She also recalls organising lots of fun activities over Dementia Action Week, like a day at the seaside, having a paddling pool to dip feet in, as well ice-creams and a sandpit, which was enjoyed immensely. Denise’s proudest moment was when she was awarded the Chairman’s Commendation for meritorious service.


In Denise’s spare time, she enjoys going on walks and reading.


Linda

Linda Wheeler

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2020

Linda Wheeler is the Administrator at Chilterns Court. She joined the Trust in 2020 and has worked in the care industry since then.


Linda’s role varies as her day is never the same. She enjoys regularly learning new tasks and ensures she makes time for the visitors, relatives, residents, and her colleagues. Linda also enjoys building these relationships.


When required, Linda helps in the kitchen, which she really likes to do as she is proud that she can do this alongside her administrator role.


In Linda’s spare time, she likes to cook and spend time with her family.
