Best placement I've been in. Staff are supportive and management always have an open door policy. In my time here, staff have supported me in gaining my independence. And I've found psychology helpful.

Although my daughter has been at Chilwell House Care Home for many years, from the day she arrived there, the staff have been so kind and caring. Any worries I have had with my daughter, I can always talk to any of the staff and they are all very approachable. Lots of activities take place with clients,
suiting their capabilities. All clients take part in cooking, cleaning, washing etc. This helps with giving them their independence back with the aim of independent living, for which I cannot thank them enough. Also, Chilwell House is in a good position for joining in with community activities. I would like to extend a great, big thank you to all the staff at Chilwell House.

My daughter has been in Chilwell since December 2020. She took quite some time to settling-in plus the home had to learn and get to understand which can take time and involve all who support our daughter. This was very stressful for my husband and I worried so very much especially as she has special
needs and learning difficulties. Now she has been there for over a year, we all work together to help meet her needs. Chilwell House Care Home now has a good understanding of her greatest needs to enable them to support her. Plus it can be very hard to help her as she has trust issues and very high anxiety but they are working very hard to help her meet her own goal of living independently. The new manager and staff keep us informed of any new issues and ask us for support that our daughter may need from us. The new manager is really making a difference too and we thank her for that.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.443)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.443) out of 10 for Chilwell House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.843 for Chilwell House is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.843

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chilwell House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 15 registered maximum number of service users is 3, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
