The overall standard of care at The Denby has deteriorated. The rooms are not cleaned daily and the cleaners appear to have more work than is achievable. Food does not get cut up, napkins are rarely used and cakes/biscuits are not put on plates. Some staff are excellent and some not so. Facilities are
not used due to my mother's reducing mobility. I believe the care/support has declined as my mother has declined. This should not happen!

Thank you very much for your feedback. This is much appreciated and supports us to learn and develop. As you will be aware, The Denby has experienced some significant challenges recently due to the Covid pandemic and this has undoubtedly affected the experience for our residents and staff. We have maintained safety at all times and now all of the team are back at work, we are very focused on making improvements around meal service for our residents. In addition, each department is supported to have sufficient resources to deliver the standards we expect.

At a time of unprecedented difficulty for the care home sector, the staff at The Denby continue to deliver care with compassion, understanding and respect. The difficulties we experience are a result of government guidelines and the home does its best to navigate around them with the interest of the
residents at the heart of what they do.

The main point is that my father seems quite content despite the restrictions that continue to be imposed. He feels at ease in his surroundings, and the staff are amenable. However, he does benefit from spending time outside of The Denby with members of his family, which has been severely limited recently
for obvious reasons. An urgent review of the procedure in this regard is needed though. I am aware that senior management and not the management of the home would be responsible for this.

Thank you for your feedback. Please be assured we are acutely aware of the impact restrictions have on the people we care for and their families. We must, however, follow the instructions provided by the Public Health Department and Government. HC-One does not develop them but must adhere to them as a registered care home. We work closely with the Local Authority and Public Health team to ensure all residents, visitors and colleagues are safe and to prevent the spread of infection. As soon as we are safe to do so, the Local Authority will guide us in supporting less restrictive visiting. As soon as we know, we will let all families know.

Carers and management are at pains to personalise the experience for my mum. They do this by asking family and by making observations. Now, after a year here, my mum's sensory needs are considered, as are those concerning her mental health. Dishes that Mum is most likely to eat are served up. I am impressed
by the level of care and attention afforded to my mum and also to me, her essential carer.

I can't begin to say how happy I am that my mother is residing at The Denby, where I know she is safe and well looked after. Her safety and wellbeing are always at the forefront of the staff, who are all absolutely brilliant. They always keep me informed of even the slightest changes in her care which
goes a long way to ease my mind. I cannot recommend the staff and care at the Denby highly enough and would like to take this opportunity to thank you all very much.

Brilliant! The staff can't do enough. Been made very welcome. Unable to do activities due to being confined to the room for 14 days isolation - "intake". Unable to answer "value" as not having any savings can only say I am no longer able to care for myself anymore!

My mother was in the Denby for nearly three months. She was well looked after and was 100 during her stay there. The staff really cared about her. The facilities were modern and well furnished. At her passing, the staff were very caring, compassionate, made the right decision to keep her in the home
and were with her until the end. No hesitation in recommending it.

Our good friend moved into The Denby at Denby Dale in mid-December. During the pandemic.
This felt really difficult, but the staff were really good at supporting her at what must have been an uncertain time for her.
We appreciate very much the patience shown to our friend, as she can be difficult
and uncooperative at times, so full marks to all at The Denby.

My mum has been a resident for 4 years. The staff are caring and attentive to the residents' needs. Very clean and bright atmosphere. Mum thinks she is in a hotel. She has dementia but is very much catered for. I would certainly recommend The Denby to anyone looking for a safe and happy home for their

My elderly father has received good care at The Denby for 2 years. In that time his mental and physical health have changed and they have adapted the support he needs, whilst respecting his dignity and desire for independence. They acted appropriately in medical emergencies which occurred particularly
at night, and then accepted and managed his discharge from hospital to settle in again.
Due to Covid these have been very frustrating times for me as a relative who used to go every day, and when/whether visiting can be achieved has been a roller-coaster. I do understand but it has not been easy, and the staff have been patient with daily phone calls from me and my brother living abroad.
What makes the Denby a real gem is the staff of all types - genuinely kind, good-humored and treating my father as an individual. Their response and care to me on his recent death has just illustrated that again. Thank you.

The Denby at Denby Dale in Huddersfield provided exceptionally excellent care for my father when he needed respite care after being discharged from hospital. The staff are extremely helpful, kind, caring and treat all the residents with utter respect and dignity. I would recommend The Denby to anyone

I stayed at The Denby for two weeks after having foot surgery and unable to bear weight. I was looked after really well. The staff were so helpful to me. The food was plentiful and excellent. My room was clean and had all the facilities needed - I slept well in a comfortable bed. I would stay again
and now I recommend it to anyone.

When it was decided my uncle needed to go into a care home, we were given the choice of three to look at. The first one was a non-starter in our eyes, the second was a maybe but when we visited "The Denby" it was an instant decision. The home is very clean, spacious and light, we were made very welcome
by the staff member who showed us around.
We asked quite a number of questions which he answered with no hesitation whatsoever. He also explained the process for a new resident to move in quite plainly and gave us a number of brochures to take away and read. We spoke to a few residents who praised the home and said they would recommend it.
My uncle is thoroughly enjoying living there. The rooms are kept very clean and there is plenty of variety in the food which is plentiful.
The staff are always polite, friendly and very professional when undertaking their duties. We do not need to worry about him at all, he is in good care. Would highly recommend this home.

My aunt thoroughly enjoyed the last three years of her life at The Denby. She never once complained to me and enjoyed chatts with all members of staff she came into contact with. It was a comfort to us knowing that she was settled, content and well cared for. Staff excelled and went the extra mile to

My mother has been at The Denby for over 4 years now and though in the past it's gone through ups and downs ay the present moment it is excellent. Since the new manager has been in place, the home has improved greatly in all areas. I haven't submitted a review before as there has always been negative points over the past 3 years.
Responding to care needed is now much improved. Staff appear much happier and are looking after me very well.

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Hannah has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked with HC-One for many years, Hannah closely shares the company vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Hannah remarked:


“I love working closely with and supporting our team so that we can continue to improve the quality of life and create a home-from-home for every Resident.”


Hannah’s biggest achievement is working hard in different positions within HC-One before being appointed Home Manager, she is proud to have achieved her career goal. In her spare time, Hannah likes to spend quality time with her family and travel to different countries for holidays.
