The staff are always very welcoming when I come to visit and make an effort to learn names and recognise faces. They know their residents well and treat them as if they are family. The staff are always cheerful and are prepared to spend time talking to residents and visitors. The chef is excellent.
The food I had was first rate. They made an effort to ensure the residents are as active as they can be. My place for the future is already booked.

Thank you so much for a lovely review, you are far too young to join us for many years to come but we love seeing you come and visit M so regularly, she is always so delighted to see you, and it was lovely of you to say we treat everyone as a family because that is how we see our home as one big extended family unit. See you soon.

My mum stayed at Dorking Manor for a 2 week respite stay in late February 2025. Overall she enjoyed staying there very much. It is a brand new home which has only been open for 3 months, and as a result there are not many residents staying there yet. Prices are currently discounted making it very good
value.
Dorking Manor is a beautiful building with excellent facilities and a large garden. It is situated in a quiet, lovely area of Dorking, within walking distance of the town centre. The staff are all excellent - friendly, caring and experienced, and Mum was looked after extremely well. The 'homemaker' model adopted by Hamberley Care Home seems to work well, as all staff are engaged in caring for the residents in addition to their other tasks, which results in good social interaction between residents and staff. I have given slightly lower ratings for food and activities, but these will no doubt improve when the home is more fully occupied.

Thank you for your lovely review, we miss mum here but hope she has settled well into Charrington Manor our sister home. We were delighted we could look after her whilst you were waiting for a room to become available. Our new Lifestyle & Wellbeing Lead starts work with us on Monday 17th March and has lots of ideas for how we can entertain our residents which are increasing rapidly.

My friend is well cared for at Dorking Manor. All the staff are attentive and ensure that her day is interesting. She has always been a smart woman, and here, she can get her hair done weekly and have her nails painted, which is so good for her morale. Twice recently, when I visited, there has been
live music, and she has clearly enjoyed this. I am welcome to drop in anytime to visit her, as it's clearly important that she regards this as her home now.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.513)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.513) out of 10 for Dorking Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.875 for Dorking Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.875

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.638 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dorking Manor Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.263

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
