Dukes Court Care Home and their staff have provided my mother with exceptional care throughout her residence with them. Her health and well-being have improved and she is very happy. During the pandemic, they have made great efforts to protect the residents, staff and visitors from the risks posed by
the virus. I have a great deal of admiration and gratitude for the way they have dealt with the challenges of the virus during these difficult times.

In the short time, my partner's mother had been in Dukes Court, she has received personalised care, encouraged to take part in activities, taken out on trips, she feels safe, she is happy, she is well cared for, and she loves the meals; she calls it "home"!

The layout and decor of the home are very pleasant, and the resident's individual rooms are nice. The pod in the garden, specially erected to use during the pandemic is very good. I have always found the staff to be welcoming.

Not much I can say really due to Covid restrictions. Phoning in the afternoon is a bit of a restriction but I understand your situation. We feel with the good weather, we should be able to meet in the garden and bring the dog to visit. We are having trouble communicating with Mother as her hearing aids
need replacing.

Accommodation is bright and modern. Staff are very kind, intelligent and patient. My dad took a lot of settling in and was difficult in his first weeks. Entertainment is excellent - always getting the residents involved in fun activities and encouraging them to join in. Very responsive to my queries
and requests. Gave me peace of mind over Dad.

Mum has been a resident at Dukes Court just under three years. Throughout this time I have been very happy with the care and support she has been given. There are days when Mum's mood and demeanour must challenge the staff. However, they seem to manage her brilliantly.
Dementia is a wicked disease.

Dukes Court has looked after my Mum's needs with care and dignity throughout this COVID which hasn't been easy for anyone. She also seems to be enjoying her time here, it's nice to see pictures of her smiling and joining in with others which has been a vast improvement in her wellbeing.

My father has been a resident in Dukes Court for nearly five years. The staff are exceptional, especially through the recent pandemic. My father has been in hospital twice recently and returned more unwell than when he was admitted, but the staff at Dukes Court have gone above and beyond to help him
recover. He sees the staff as his family and has always enjoyed living here. As a family, we have been very lucky to have found Dukes Court.

Mum moved to Dukes Court in August, 4 years into her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. I was her full-time carer for 4 years prior to this. Her needs were becoming increasingly difficult, and I needed help. Loving her was no longer enough and constant care was needed. Throughout the whole experience from the first
show round the home, every phone contact, and all written communication right up to and including Mum’s admission, I can honestly say ALL the staff at Dukes Court have been, and still are professional, courteous and pro-active in ensuring that Mum has the best care they can give.
Sadly Mum has been to hospital a few times following falls, however, the staff acted as you would want them to by ensuring she was checked by paramedics immediately and constantly contacting the hospital for updates that they then relayed to me. They treat Mum as part of the family and have followed all my wishes for her and made her feel at home. She loves the food and eats very well. I thank them all.

My mother is in her second year of living at Dukes Court. I am so happy and thankful that she is receiving quality care. Dukes Court is exceptional and has great staff that are compassionate and really take care of their residents like they would their own family. Food is excellent and great activities

Our mother's 2 years at Dukes Court have given her a quality of life we did not anticipate. The care provided by all staff and in particular during the period of lockdown due to coronavirus has been excellent. The wellbeing team have done a wonderful job with the love and attention to all residents
when family members could not visit. She had a memorable day in July celebrating her 90th birthday. The care given to her at the end of her life was with compassion and dignity. As a family, our final visits were limited due to COVID restrictions, but our mother was not alone. Thank you everyone at Dukes Court.

My mother, aged 103, is very content in her room. She enjoys all the activities put on by the entertainment staff in the lounge. She finds the food extremely good and manages to have a really good lunch. So all-in-all she is very happy in Dukes Court.

I really want to highly recommend this Care Home as being excellent. The ambience was superb with the tasteful decoration, cleanliness and smiling staff who welcomed us each time we visited. It was also very reassuring for the resident and us that there were no changes of staff on her floor so she became
familiar with them during her 11-month stay and they with her, resulting in all her likes and dislikes being remembered and catered for so she did not feel stressed with trying to explain these each time. They also showed genuine care and concern for the person and endeavoured to meet all her needs without fuss and treated her with dignity.

Hello, my name is Claire, and I became the home manager at Dukes Court in October 2023.


I have worked in the care sector for over 20 years, with my passion being in dementia care.


Throughout my career I have worked in Nursing, and residential homes, supporting older people who live with disabilities, and dementia.


I have many years of experience in managing care homes for the elderly and could not imagine doing any other job.


I have completed various training and development courses including levels 2 & 3 in health and social care and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for adult and children care.


I am very proud of our home and the fantastic team who work here at Dukes Court.


I love to see team members develop and love supporting colleagues to improve their knowledge and progress in their careers.

Hello, my name is Lauren and I am the deputy manager at Dukes Court care home. I have been working here since 2015, I initially started as a carer and have worked in various roles including senior carer and team leader to get me where I am today.

Hello everyone, my name is Anthony, I am the maintenance operative for Dukes Court.


My role is to maintain all aspects of the home and to ensure everything complies with Avery's high standards. This is my 10th year working in this role for the company and I’m very proud to be a part of this caring and dedicated team at Dukes Court.


On my normal day you will see me around the home performing a variety of tasks which can include, checking the residents’ rooms are up to a high standard, ensuring the décor of the home is well maintained, and carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly checks.


I am here to support you when you move in and am happy to always assist as you settle in.

My name is Mike, I have over 25 years working within the hospitality industry. There came a time when I wanted a change so applied for the role of head chef at Dukes Court and I have been here happily since 2018.


Catering for the elderly has been very rewarding for me.


Dukes Court is a thoroughly enjoyable atmosphere to work in, I enjoy attending monthly residents’ meetings and hearing the residents ’ valuable feedback and I always ensure to take it on board.


I have a fantastic team of kitchen assistants that ensure that the day-to-day running of the kitchen goes as smoothly as possible.


I pride myself on our recent 5-star food hygiene rating from EHO.

I started as a care assistant and have worked my way up to being a senior carer in our York memory community.


I love my job and enjoy making the residents happy, I am currently working towards my level 3 NVQ


My main responsibilities are ensuring my residents are receiving medication, making sure they are leading a healthy lifestyle and that their appointments are being upheld.

I have worked a Dukes Court nearly 3 years, from starting as a carer on nights, to being a senior and then moving to days to be a senior carer


I am currently working towards my NVQ 3 within health and social care


My aim at Dukes Court is to ensure that the residents throughout the home are happy and safe I am very passionate about this, and that their care needs are being met. I support my care team to ensure this happens.


Working alongside my team is very important as it helps ensure we maintain the quality of care to all our residents; my team will always be my second family and we are always there to support one another.

Hi. My name is Arlene. My role is Customer Service Assistant. I’ve been working in Dukes Court for over a year now and I would say that working in a care home is very rewarding because you get to talk to people from all walks of life. I like interacting with our residents especially when we have events in the home and getting to know each one of them is such a pleasure.


My main role is to meet and greet all visitors, keeping the reception desk neat and tidy. Making sure that the desk is pleasant to welcome all visitors. Part of my role is to show the home to the enquirer and make sure to present the whole home in the best possible way.


As a colleague, we all work closely and as one family, helping and supporting each other, especially in difficult times.

Hi everyone my name is Simon!


I am the Wellbeing Coordinator for Dukes Court


Dukes Court has a very sentimental place in my heart as it is the first care home I've worked in, taking a total career path change back in 2014 when I decided to leave a very successful, highly paid but stressful sales account management role within the public sector to begin my career in a care setting. It was the best decision I ever made and I feel I was made for the role.


So what does a well-being coordinator role consist of?
Well, I can honestly say that it isn't all bingo and rice pudding at Duke's. The role might require me to be a listening ear for one minute, loneliness prevention, a meaningful one-to-one engagement. Other times I can be seen beavering away at the computer or on the telephone booking fantastic, quality entertainment and planning amazing weekly and monthly events. Families rely on me to keep our Facebook page updated daily with news and photos of their loved ones, we pride ourselves on our up-to-date content and engaging posts and we welcome the support and comments from our loyal followers and friends of Dukes Court. Singing, dancing, quiz and game host, I have adapted the skills I honed during my entertainment days and now try to give the residents a touch of the theatrical within our planned activities.


My background experience has been in the performing arts, studying at Booth Lane College in Northampton, and going on to work as a performer in the Skyline gang at Butlins, Skegness, Pontins, Haven, British Holidays and JMC holidays in Kos. Greece. The ten years of experience I gained performing to audiences of all ages over the years has enabled me to bring lots of fresh ideas and a variety of activities for our residents. I like to think out of the box, in fact, I probably threw away the box.


A local man, I was born and brought up in Wellingborough and I have close links with the community and this gives me a greater understanding of the surrounding areas. Always handy when having a chat with residents who may or may not know the area and definitely useful when planning our local trips.


Fun fact: When I left school I was a bartender at The Duke of York pub that used to be where Dukes Court stands today, pulling my first pints and enjoying the lively atmosphere that the Duke of York would create throughout the week and weekends. So you could say, I have come full circle!


I thoroughly enjoy my job and feel very privileged to spend my days with such wonderful ladies and gentlemen from whom I learn a lot and share laughs and smiles every day. I have a combined total of nearly five years as a well-being coordinator at Dukes Court now and I'm very excited to welcome new residents who have chosen us to be their care provider.

Hi, My name is Kate and I work as part of our wellbeing team.
I originally started my career working in retail where I worked for many years.
I eventually decided I wanted a change in career, That's when I found this perfect job at Dukes Court with a great team to work alongside.
I have been at Dukes Court for nearly 2 years now!
I find my job so rewarding, learning new things all the time about our residents.
You will often see us having a dance and sing-song to some old style classics as well as showing our artistic side in our arts and crafts sessions, Why don't you come along and see for yourself!
One to ones are very important part of my role in wellbeing for those who may not be able to physically join in with group activities.
Its a pleasure to go home at night time knowing I've made a difference and bought fun and happiness in to the day, not only to our residents but there family members too
