Edwin House: specialist care
we are a 41 bed CQC registered residential care setting, that specialise in providing 24-hour person centered care and support for individuals with current or historic alcohol dependency syndrome and or substance use.
The service is comprised of two residential accommodations the first of which residents are working towards recovery and abstinence, the other residents have already achieved abstinence on their recovery pathway but have continuing care and support needs.
We provide a nonjudgmental trauma informed approach to delivering care to those with severe multiple disadvantage we achieve this via:
creating a psychologically informed environment
administration of medication
designated senior support workers providing the spoke one-to-one care plans risk assessments in key working sessions
nutritionally balanced meals
offering support with daily living skills and personal care
joint working with Nottingham recovery network (community substance use services)
focus on re-enablement using smart goals
support to liaise and meet with health professionals
individual en-suite rooms
we are a pet friendly service (some restrictions do apply)
host on-site health bus for sexual health, blood-borne virus testing and harm reduction
we have outdoor secure gardens
peer mentoring available on site
links to mental health services
24-hour care and support staff on site
in service social activities.
Visiting times for personal visitors is between 10am and 8pm.
Residents may not have overnight visitors for two weeks following admission. Following this, residents may have overnight guests for no longer than two night in any 7 day period. These visits must be planned in advance giving a minimum of 24 hours’ notice with staff and guests must adhere to the behavior guidelines as detailed below.
Residents have a right to have intimate relationships and should a resident’s partner stay overnight staff will respect the resident’s privacy during well-being checks by knocking on the resident’s door and waiting for a verbal response only.
Residents are expected to be with their visitors at all times and are ultimately responsible for their visitor’s behavior. The following list details the expected behavior of visitors to Edwin House:
No Visitors under the age of 18, unless prior arrangements have been made with management
Visitors must sign in at reception on arrival and sign out when leaving
Visitors must not source or bring alcohol onto the premises, nor should they consume alcohol on the premises
Visitors must not source or bring illicit substances onto the premises, nor should they consume any illicit substances on the premises
Visitors must treat staff and other residents with respect
