Farnham Mill Nursing Home is committed to the highest standards of service and care, within a friendly and happy, family-run setting. It specialises in Nursing, Dementia, Parkinson's and End-of-life care. The Home is rated as Good Overall by CQC.

Its aim is to provide the highest level of care for residents, in a dignified and compassionate way. With the best facilities and equipment, in a comfortable home with highly trained, experienced staff. The home has 60 large bedroom suites, with floor to ceiling windows, creating a very light and bright atmosphere. Outside there is a wonderful Mill Pond, landscaped gardens and a wildlife meadow. There is also a quiet courtyard garden with raised planters, all accessed by level flat paths.

Compassionate, caring and professional staff try to improve the quality of life for those who have chosen to live in the home. The approach is not 'one routine fits all', but rather a more personal care plan, that makes allowances for the individual's needs and concerns. There is a full and diverse range of activities in place to help residents pursue their personal interests

My father-in-law had a sudden health crisis in late September 2020. He was the main carer for my mother-in-law. My husband and I cared for them both 24/7 for 1 week but saw that we could not continue this long term and that they needed much more care than we had realised. Farnham Mill really 'pulled
out the stops' for us and offered my parents-in-law lovely accommodation from the start of October. We have been so impressed with the excellent standards of care, nursing and good humour from every member of staff we have had contact with there. Nothing is too much trouble. Individual attention to the residents' needs is second to none. Especially impressive is their investment of effort, time and money to keep all their homes Covid 19 free and in establishing and refining the safest possible means of virtual/distanced 'visiting'. Buildings are important, but it is the warm and caring Farnham Mill staff who make it a safe and caring home. A big thank you to all the staff.

The change in Mum since she came to live at Farnham Mill is life-changing. From a frightened confused lady to how she is today is incredible and is all due to the full-time care and kindness of all the staff and the stimulation of all the different things on offer in a beautiful home, it is wonderful
to see her so contented and happy. It has given us peace of mind to see that she is now living her life and not just existing. The management and staff at the homes have been fantastic in their foresight and dealings with the effect of Covid and keeping the residents safe and continuing to offer the same quality of care despite all the difficulties they must encounter.

My mother-in-law spent a months respite stay at Farnham Mill. All the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to help and care for her. She loved the food and the variety that was offered. The cleanliness of the home was immaculate. The activities were brilliant, and she so enjoyed celebrating Ladies
Day at the races when the horses visited.

My Grandmother had a wonderful stay at Farnham Mill for some well-needed respite care. In such uncertain and worrying times the staff were amazing in ensuring I could keep in contact with my Gran via Facetime, this was amazing as it was difficult not being able to visit but it lifted her spirits as
she got to see her family and great-grandchildren, especially my one year old who has just started walking, it was lovely that Gran was still involved. Gran told me that she was really enjoying her meals and the staff were amazing which made me feel at ease knowing she was being well looked after and was happy.

My Mother was admitted to Farnham Mill for 4 weeks on respite care at the end of May 20. Even though it was during a very difficult time with the Covid 19 pandemic the staff were brilliant and they made my mother feel safe and welcomed. This was obviously very comforting for all of our family.
This
is the third time that my mother has used the respite care provided by this company and each time I can not fault them. The staff are always courteous, respectful and so welcoming that they make what is for some a difficult decision a little bit easier.
The homes are well maintained and cleanliness is of the utmost importance, which is especially relevant during this current situation. The homes have excellent activities programmes and the food is varied and nutritional.
All staff that I encountered were always willing to help with any questions that I or my mother had and they always explained things with a caring kind attitude.

My father was a resident at the Mill for a year. I cannot praise highly enough the care he was given. The staff training in dementia is so apparent in the way they care and treat the residents.
My family felt part of the Mill family when visiting and we were all looked after and treated with such care
and support.
This is an amazing environment with outstanding care and we were so sad to have to say goodbye to them all.

My mother came to Farnham Mill for end of life care in July 2019. Her health improved as she settled in and received excellent nursing care alongside kind and competent day to day assistance. She did find group living difficult as she has been very self-sufficient all her adult life but she had huge
praise for all the staff members and felt very cared for which was a great support for me at a difficult time.

This is an absolutely first-class facility. My mother was on her dementia 'journey' and I could not have wished for a better place for her to see out her years. Sadly, she has recently passed away, but she would have wanted it to be known how much she enjoyed her time here. With a host and variety of
activities to stimulate the mind, alongside staff that not only care but understand how to look after our loved with dementia. Not everyone has dementia and those elderly residents are also well looked after on the lower floors of the home. My mum started off on the ground floor, but eventually made her way to the penthouse. I cannot recommend Farnham Mill highly enough.

I have just spent over a week as a respite resident. This was my second visit and it felt like coming home. Everything about Farnham Mill is as near perfect as you can get. The staff are dedicated to the comfort of those in their care and the rooms are delightful, cosy and attractive. The food is varied
and likes and dislikes are catered for. Every afternoon there is a programme to suit all tastes - we had a lovely carol service on Wednesday. I can find no criticism except the coffee could be stronger. I look forward to my next visit.

My mother lived at Farnham Mill for 18 months and was the happiest she had ever been since my father died 11 years ago. The staff treated all the residents with respect and dignity at all times. The facilities and activities stimulated and amused a demanding lady. I cannot praise highly enough the end
of life care provided by all members of staff. Both my mother and her family were supported magnificently. Farnham Mill sets a very high benchmark of excellence for others to aspire to achieve.

I cannot fault the standard met by Farnham Mill. It should be a benchmark for other care homes to strive for. During our visit, we observed a level of care and teamwork in the caregiving, that I would like to receive should I need to move into care.

My mother was taken to hospital and as she was Dad's main carer, we had to quickly look for respite for him. Farnham Mill acted so quickly to accommodate him. Dad was looked after so well, everybody was so kind. Dad spent three weeks at the Mill and talks of it fondly and would love to return when my
mother needs a rest again.

Following the death of my father-in-law, my mother-in-law needed a secure dementia care facility due to her wandering nature and medical needs. Following extensive research and visiting several nursing homes in the area, there was one that stood out from the rest and that was Farnham Mill. The home
was purpose-built just a few years ago specifically to care for the needs we required. From our very first visit, it was well run, secure, beautifully clean and decorated with large rooms and lovely communal facilities. More importantly, there is a very good staff ratio and the carers are wonderful and caring. There are various entertainments organised such as singers and musicians along with daily entertainment activities and trips out to garden centres etc. No, it's not the cheapest care home in the area but also it's not the most expensive. My mother-in-law has been unwell recently and we are informed as soon as possible and consulted about treatments etc then kept updated. Well done.

My mum has settled well into life at Farnham Mill.
It is lovely to see her looking well and after a slow start she is now joining in with activities. Last week my sister and I visited together and watched Mum in the cookery class. It was wonderful to see her so engaged in making cheese straws. Mum
was school caterer and you could see how this activity was bringing back memories. Mum is always encouraged to join in by the wonderful caring staff who are always there to help.

Mum went to Farnham Mill in March 2019 after being hospital for 2 months. It is such a lovely, warm, caring environment. This is due to the staff, who are professional at all times but have a caring attitude. There are so many activities that my Mum is encouraged to join in. The latest favourite is
the cooking club. It is wonderful to watch Mum using some of her skills from her 'school catering' days. If you are thinking of placing a loved one at Farnham Mill, rest assured that they will be well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. A fantastic place. 'Home from Home'

I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at the Royal Free Hospital when I assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd following my mother's retirement in 1998.

I have been working at Farnham Mill as a front-of-house receptionist.


I worked for a well-known high street bank but changed my career which was inspired by my mum’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and the impact it had and still has on my family’s lives. I am passionate about and love my role at Farnham Mill. To see families being able to spend time together is my real inspiration and to be able to spend time with our residents is a real privilege on a day-to-day basis.

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

I joined Farnham Mill in July 2018 and feel proud of my role as activities coordinator.


My passion is making our residents happy and I believe this is part and parcel of good care.


My job as activities coordinator allows me lots of opportunities to do this, through organising lots of different activities and trips that our residents enjoy. These include arts and crafts, quiz's, trips out to the pub, shopping and to garden centres. Plus lots of musical performances.

I am the Senior Nurse and Clinical Lead at Hill House. I joined Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd in 2019, after working in a number of other nursing homes previously. I was drawn to Farnham Mill because I had heard about how the company offer outstanding care to their residents and takes care of its staff.


On a personal level, I have always been passionate about caring for the elderly, especially those with dementia. It is my belief our residents should receive excellent nursing care and I am proud to be part of the outstanding team at Farnham Mill.

I have worked with the Woodlands and Hill Brow group for more than 5 years, working my way up to Senior Nurse. I work with a great team of management, carers and domestic staff. I have worked for Woodlands and Hill Brow since 2018, first at Hill House as a carer and when Farnham Mill was built, I transferred over. I love working in such a beautiful purpose built, nursing home. The home allows us to provide the best possible care for our lovely residents. I also enjoy working with such a dedicated team of carers, nurses and management who all put the residents happiness and care first.

Job Title: Facilities Manager

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
