Overall Experience

I am very happy (as is my sister) with the general level of care provided in connection with my mother. The stage involved in her care are very kind and supportive.
My only criticism relates to the lack of "communication" - the relaying of messages or "requests for information" - I would suggest a

"handover" or "message" book could be used to remedy this.

Overall Experience

I normally visit 3 to 4 times a week and have never failed to find staff and management who are extremely friendly and caring to both my wife and myself. When other relatives and friends visit they are made welcome. It is a great home with a family atmosphere. All I can say is thank you for caring.

Overall Experience

My wife has been in Gilwood Lodge 18 months. I have seen previous managers come and go undoubtedly many issues were evident during the time of the deported management. However the "current" manageress is so much better, many improvements have been implemented by this management, now any issues are discussed

and acted on and invariably delegated to the appropriate section to resolve the concerns quickly.

Overall Experience

As I can no longer take mum out due to her condition, I have time on my visits to look around and watch the staff in action. The genuine care and affection shown to mum and other residents is amazing. These people are not in this job for the money, it is obviously a vocation - care comes from within.

I feel grateful that mum is in such wonderful and safe hands.

Overall Experience

Until my mother arrived here from another nursing home, her life expectancy was minimal. Now, I am sure she will make 100. The staff have been so kind. She is much happier here. So glad we chose the Gilwood Lodge.

Overall Experience

What I appreciate most is that the staff are very caring with mum and show her respect, friendship and dignity. Mum needs a lot of time to eat her meals which are now fully liquidized. The staff show incredible patience and take the time to ensure she swallows as comfortably as possible. Overall, we

Overall Experience

My dad who has become a resident this year is a critical man who has high standards. However, he praises the cleaners, the laundry assistants and carers and nurses. He mentions how clothes are washed each day, neatly folded and put back in his cupboards. How all the staff chat to him. He explains how

some carers are very experienced and choose to spend time with him for a chat. They also try and meet his requirements even though they can be busy. He likes the wet room shower and is impressed with the bath with a hoist.

Overall Experience

Dad has been in Gilwood Lodge Nursing Home for two years. He's loved by all, content and well looked after. He is clean, never smells and clean shaven. We are kept well informed of any changes in his health. His room is clean and a pleasant place to reside.

Overall Experience

Gillwood Lodge is to be highly recommended. The residents are involved by activities and various music. The meals are excellent quality and hot. There are cleaners on site who keep cleanliness standards. The staff are amazing and relatives are encouraged to have their say at quarterly meetings. Management

and staff are very friendly and approachable. This dementia home should be the first to be looked at for any family who has a relative who requires dementia care. It is secure and safe. Under the sad circumstances I am very happy with Dad's care.

Overall Experience

It is amazing how quickly mum has settled in. The staff have been extremely kind and welcoming to both her and the rest of the family and the home is great. Her room is bright, clean, tidy, very homely and the home itself caters superbly for visits from the family, with a lovely conservatory and large

garden which she will love. There are also well thought out activities such as gardening, baking, music and movies etc which I know will make a difference to her. As any one will attest, it is such a difficult decision where to place your loved ones and a period filled with worry about whether the decision was the correct one, but we certainly needn't have worried. Everyone has a caring but a professional attitude to the residents and the staff have made every effort to understand mum's needs and I am particularly impressed by the way they have spent time asking about her character and social likes and dislikes as well as looking after her medical well-being, which is fantastic. Thank you from all the family.

Overall Experience

Gilwood Lodge is an excellent care home where standards are very high. Food is of a very good quality. Drinks are available throughout the day where residents and visitors can indulge freely in hot and cold drinks. The residents are always invited to partake of numerous activities and most of them do

so with gusto. Residents are always treated with the utmost care and attention.

Overall Experience

This is the third care home I have visited. Gilwood Lodge is refurbished so is obviously a joy to others but the residents are all cared for, the staff treat them as anyone else, with courtesy, understanding and care. Patience is a priority in my opinion and this is displayed constantly. There has only

been one occasion that I have heard a member of staff be 'snappy'. They do a wonderful job and I have total admiration for Gilwood Lodge.

Overall Experience

My Mum has been a resident at Gilwood Lodge since Dec 15. I visited the home in advance of my Mum moving in and was impressed by the model of care described. Since Mum has been there, I've seen this first hand. My Mum is very happy and settled there which is a big relief.
The surroundings are lovely

and I know it's the type of home my Mum would have chosen for herself.

Overall Experience

I had POA for a lady in this Care Home. I cannot fault it in any way. The love, care and concern for her well-being was second to none. The whole place has a wonderful feeling and looks so beautiful. Her room was extremely beautiful as were others. All the staff were fantastic. They all knew her

very well and were so kind. When she became very ill I was informed and when it was obvious that she was coming to the end of her life I was informed again. I live 32 miles away and came over straight away. The staff were very kind to me and they had made sure that this lady was looked after to the end. She loved Hymn music and they had put a CD of hymns on for her and had put her "Holding Cross" in her hand. I was very impressed. We were cared for too whilst there. When she passed away we were ministered too and were given something to eat. An amazing place with such dedicated staff. Thank you. She was treated with dignity at all times.
