My husband’s godmother moved into Gracewell in December, having had an excellent month of respite care there in September. The home is a lovely place to live, despite current lockdown restrictions. It is comfortable and friendly, with a large range of activities and an excellent menu! The bedrooms are
large and pleasant and the other residents we have met seem very nice. There is also a garden which, owing to current restrictions, we have not been able to visit. Above all, the staff are friendly, caring people who really take the trouble to spend time with their residents, chatting and eating with them if they do not feel up to going to the restaurant for their meals. Should a resident be unlucky enough to have a fall or be ill, the staff quickly deal with the situation in an appropriate manner and fully inform the family of what has happened. We are very pleased with the care taken of our godmother.

My mother moved in the first week of January and was immediately made to feel welcome, being greeted in a warm and friendly manner by a variety of the team. Despite the restrictions due to Covid, the move-in was made as hassle-free as possible and my mother remained positive throughout the whole day
despite some understandable nerves and second thoughts the previous day. Since then, we have had a telephone line installed and every day she remarks how genuine and caring all of the staff are and how they have continued to keep her occupied and provided company, despite her initial ten days of self-isolation. I have received a couple of telephone calls to give me updates on how she is settling in and to also check and clarify on their understanding of her dietary requirements etc. This involvement with the family has really reassured me that they treat every resident as an individual. I am sure she will continue to be happy here.

My auntie entered Gracewell after an unexpected admission to hospital and during particularly difficult times. Complications within her immediate family also added to the unsettling transition, however, the team at Gracewell, especially the Admissions Advisor, ensured that everything possible was done
to make the process as smooth as possible.
I am indebted to the whole team for being able to give me peace of mind that she is being very well cared for and has even been complimentary about the food, which for my auntie takes some doing!
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Gracewell of Newbury to anyone seeking a first-class care home for their loved ones.

I cannot praise enough the care and love my parents have received over the past 3 1/2 years at Gracewell of Newbury, particularly when they both contracted COVID-19 earlier this year. The commitment and care form the staff is excellent. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

In these unprecedented times we have seen people at their best, and no more so than the dedicated staff at Gracewell Newbury.
For a family, it has been really hard not being able to see our loved ones, but knowing they have had the best care in a safe dedicated environment from people that really care
for them as individuals has been amazing.

My mum moved into Gracewell of Newbury in July 2018. I cannot express in words how highly I would recommend this home. All of the staff are exceptional and always go that extra mile to make sure that the care that Mum receives is second to none. They all work together as a team to make sure that the
care they give is the best it can be. In the current difficult situation, they have worked tirelessly to protect all of the residents. As soon as the home went into lockdown, they organised Ipads so that we could Skype. 'Through the looking glass' visits were also made available where you could visit, but it was through a patio door with mobile phones. I cannot express how invaluable this has been to maintain contact with Mum and to bring a smile to her face. Mum did contract Covid-19; when I got the call, I honestly thought that I would never see her again. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, my mum has pulled through and is now doing really well again.

Gracewell of Newbury was by far the best care home we came across when searching for our Mother over three and a half years ago - we looked at eight others, and none came anywhere near Gracewell, based on the initial inspections and induction meetings we had with care staff at that time.
Of course,
the proof of the pudding has to be in the actual experience over time not just from first appearances - I have to say they still ultimately win over all others!
Despite many changes in management within their first year (2016/17) and employing lots of agency staff, the actual care was still excellent even then!
Our Mother was always happy at this amazing care home from her first day, right up until her recent passing - all the staff gave her an incredibly loving send-off too!
With their policy of always trying to only employ their own care staff has ensured consistency in care standards - exemplary!
All staff at branch level offer enthusiasm with empathy and are professional.

First-class care home. Mother has been in Gracewell for 2 years 5 months and there has never been any issues with regards to the care she has received whilst in their care. The care home has a good feeling whenever you go in, and in my case, this is most days. The activity coordinator should be highly
commended.

I would like to say how pleased I am of the care my Mum is receiving at Gracewells. All the staff are caring and nothing is too much for them. I only have to mention something to them and they will act on it. The Nurses are always available if I have any queries on medical grounds. My Mum has trouble
speaking and they show great patience and encouragement to her, enabling her on occasion to say a phrase, and communicate her needs. When she is unable to, it shows how well they understand her as they can work out what it is she needs.
A big thank you to all the staff for doing a hard job well and with compassion.

Gracewell is wonderful. The staff have a very difficult job, but do it so well. They are all nationalities and ages, but nearly all speak good English. They are all so kind to my husband, who has Parkinson's Disease and dementia. Unbelievably, the atmosphere is lively and relaxed.

My mum has lived at Gracewell for over two years. She has advancing dementia and needs a huge amount of care, love and patience. She receives this in abundance from all the carers. Her anxiety is kept to a minimum, she is physically very well cared for and she enjoys all the many activities and visiting
entertainers.
The staff work very hard and respond quickly to any concerns I may have. Following a broken hip earlier this year, Mum spent a few days in hospital but staff were anxious to get her back home so they could start her rehabilitation. At 93 this could have resulted in a very different ending however the staff were determined she would be mobile again and with hard work and constant encouragement she was on her feet and moving within a week or so. Her previous mobility has not quite been regained and dementia advances but I am very happy that Mum has as good a quality of life as possible. I enjoy my daily time with Mum and the residents joining in with the care staff.

Mum has been here for over two years. In that time she has been very happy and well looked after. Her favourite saying is "I have no complaints". It is always a pleasant place to visit and she always has lots to keep her busy. Highly recommended.

The professional care and kindness are evident as soon as you walk through the door, my friend receives excellent care. The facilities are very good and the food excellent. All the staff are friendly, happy and caring. It's a lovely place to visit.

My father has now been a resident for four weeks, I am extremely happy with the level of care and kindness that the carers show. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they always have time to care. The facilities are very good, the food is excellent and my dad is very well cared for and has settled

Adarsh Kurian

Job Title: General Manager

I am a Registered Nurse with over fifteen years of experience. I lead the entire home team at Newbury Grove, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the home and its facilities to ensure we meet all of the standards required of us.


I appreciate how important it is to residents and their loved ones that they receive regular information and updates about their care, and what’s happening in the home. I’m passionate about keeping everyone updated, including our team, and about celebrating our successes.


One of my favourite parts of the day is spending time with residents and catching up with their families. We’re one big family here at Newbury Grove. I look forward to welcoming you to the home very soon.
