Mum moved into Greenan Manor in August 2021. A lovely modern home. Spotlessly clean with fantastic views over Ayr Bay and friendly attentive staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Comfortable rooms and excellent food. A few days after she moved it was mum's birthday and the staff put on a lovely
birthday lunch complete with balloons, cake, wine and music. Mum loved it and said it was the best birthday she'd had in a while! As the home is brand new there are only a few residents just now but as word gets out on how good it is I'm sure this will change.

Reply from Elaine Hughes, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are delighted that your mum has chosen to stay at Greenan Manor and we look forward to having many more birthday parties for her. As the new Home Manager, I look forward to helping the home grow and meet new residents and their families. I will pass on your lovely comments to the staff.

Delighted with our choice of care home for our aunt. Feels like a 5-star hotel/clean, lovely decor. Staff have been universally lovely, helpful, sensible and a pleasure to deal with. Communication has been good, I feel ‘ kept in the loop’. My aunt seems settled, even although unrealistically, she wants
to be in her own home. She is being very well looked after.

Thank you so much for your lovely review - as Commissioning Manager for Greenan Manor, it is great to hear this feedback. I will be sure to pass it on to Elaine and the Team at Greenan Manor.

The staff are very informative about my mum's condition and if a doctor is required, they will discuss that with us. I find the staff very friendly which reflects the mood of the care home, especially during the Covid pandemic. They are very attentive to my mum's needs and as purpose-built every facility
available.

No complaints at all, always made very welcome. The staff are very polite and courteous. Outside the building very attractive, superb location with facilities to sit out in the fresh air and enjoy the view. Gardens in the early stages will look stunning once established. The rooms are very spacious
with great toilet and wet room facilities. One criticism the furniture in the bedroom dark and a bit drab.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

We appreciate your feedback and I have shared comments regarding fitted bedroom furniture with our commissioning team. Whilst main garden areas are in process of establishing, our Activity Organiser is working with residents to choose plants for their personal patio areas and I hope you will enjoy time visiting your mum, sitting together on her patio and enjoying the view out to sea and Arran. We look forward to welcoming you again soon to Greenan Manor.

Staff are very helpful. Telephone facilities are very bad. Telephone cable jack situated on desk - not near bed or chair. Very bad insulation or planning. No part available to connect phone for over 6 weeks, no interest by head office IT in problem. Local staff very helpful. No communal activities organised.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

Thank you for making time to review our Home. I'm pleased to note that you are extremely likely to recommend Greenan Manor, despite the issues raised regarding installing a private telephone line. As a new Home, we have experienced some unexpected challenges that can not always be as swiftly resolved as we all would wish and I appreciate your patience and working with us to learn from such difficulties. We now have an experienced, full-time Activities Coordinator working with our residents and the care team and we can offer individual and small group activities daily. I welcome direct contact from families and will respond positively to feedback and seek to promptly address any concerns.

Clean, modern environment. Good food. Caring and helpful staff. Activities - a new home with few residents to date so activities are limited.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

We greatly appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to respond. The majority of activities have been individualised due to Covid-19 isolation restrictions for new residents, personal choice and as a new Home, gradually increasing admissions of new residents, numbers to engage in group activities have been limited. We recently appointed a full-time and experienced Activities Coordinator who is engaging well with our residents, the team are facilitating small group activities that offer increased social contact amongst our residents. I will be speaking with residents and their families on a regular basis to ensure your feedback is promptly addressed.

Attention from staff is good, and I'm enjoying my meals, the menu is varied so I can choose my favourites. I haven't used many facilities but looking forward to going so.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

We have appointed an experienced Activities Coordinator to enhance the programme currently available to residents, individually and for small (socially distanced groups). We're particularly aware of the challenges for our new residents due to the current Covid-19 isolation period, and our care and hospitality team make great efforts to get to know individual residents and tailor activities to their preferences and promote wellbeing and lessen the sense of isolation during this time.

Apparently, my mother is being treated well and she loves the room and the facilities. She gets on well with the staff and vice versa. She enjoys the meals and the freedom she is given. Also she likes the view and the ability to sit outside in the warm weather.

Reply from Amanda Harland, Home Manager at Greenan Manor

We greatly appreciate your time to provide feedback and we're delighted that your mum has chosen to stay at Greenan permanently following a respite stay.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.737)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.737) out of 10 for Greenan Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.972 for Greenan Manor is calculated as follows: ( (103 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.972

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.765 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Greenan Manor is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.865

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
