Morar Living is delighted to announce they have now opened their newest £m five star luxury care home, Hermitage House in Helensburgh.

Morar Living, part of Simply UK, is now accepting new residents.

The advanced and exceptional design resembles a five star hotel which isn't like a regular care home. Morar Living prides itself when it comes to care, service, standards and resident satisfaction, providing five star excellence at all times.

The spectacular development accommodates 64 bedrooms, which in regards to their spacious element are alike to an apartment.

Hermitage House has remarkable features such as bistros, drawing rooms a hair salon, private gardens, several lounges and a number of private dining areas. Five star chefs will also be onboard everyday to provide fresh gourmet meals and snacks based upon the residents' individual dietary requirements and preferences.

This care home is worlds apart, we visited many care homes all over the area and as far as Glasgow, but just didn't get the same friendly welcoming feeling, the staff go above and beyond. The home is spotless and beautifully decorated. I couldn't ask for a nicer environment for my dad, he loves the
staff and has found a new lease of life. I can't thank the home enough and I feel happier knowing he is safe and happy.

When I was no longer able to care for my mum's needs at home I visited numerous care homes in the area. Hermitage House was stunning, the staff were warm and inviting, the manager eased my worries and concerns. I also looked into the care inspectorate reports and was very impressed at the high grading
and feedback. My mum has now been in Hermitage House for a month and has settled well. Staff have got to know her routine and personality and have made me feel at home while visiting and at ease when leaving that my mum is safe and happy.

Grandma is staying here. This is a very homely place. Staff are welcoming and comforting whilst being attentive. It's very clean. The activities are amazing. My granny especially loves the monthly singers.

Hermitage House is an exceptional care home. My father resided with them for the last two years, joining them not long after the home opened. The care staff and support team are amazing, their compassion and care of my father, particularly in his last few weeks/days was outstanding. Staff went above
and beyond to make sure his needs were taken care of, even going the extra mile to heat his food up extra hot as he always liked it!

I am more than happy with the care my great auntie is receiving from hermitage house. She is cared for in the highest regard and her dignity is respected by all workers.
When I visit her she is happy and can recall activities and events that she has participated in.
They recently had a family
day and it was a wonderful day for my aunt to meet other residents and more staff that she wouldn’t normally see such as the reception staff.
Having the activities coordinator helps her stay active and has her using her problem-solving abilities which helps keep her brain active.
The hairdresser is a favourite as she likes to look fabulous.

My mum has been a resident in home for a few months now, and I have got to say the standard of care is outstanding, from coming to view the home all staff from management, nurses, and the carers made myself and my mum very welcome. Mum is more settled than she has been last few years. Mum loves staying
in the home and enjoying the activities especially the parties as she loves meeting up with the other residents.

This is an exceptional home. The staff are caring and attentive. My friend has had a wonderful time and the activities and involvement of the staff and residents seem to be growing month by month. All credit to the management team and all staff. A lovely addition was the rehydration stand beautifully
presented and well stocked and available to all great idea especially in the heatwave we experienced... shows a great attention to detail and requirements of the users... keep up the great work.

Beautiful home with lovely rooms and finishes. Very much a home away from home. Staff are very skilled and nothing is too much trouble. They coped with changing needs and tried to do their utmost to be helpful. The staff dealt with medical issues proactively and thoroughly and communication was timely
and effective. At the palliative stage, they were sensitive and very caring. My mum was always beautifully dressed and her personal care was excellent. The home was very clean and tidy.

My father has been in Hermitage House for nearly 6 months and it was the best decision we have ever made. He has been happy and content from the day he arrived from down south and could not have been made to feel more welcome. The care he has received from all members of staff is second to none and
nothing is too much trouble. The minute you walk into Hermitage House you feel a warm and homely atmosphere, the handyman putting up pictures, and being able to bring two bookcase cabinets from home my father requested has made my father's room really feel his own.
I could not recommend highly enough this care home.

What can I say apart from delighted at the care my aunt has received from staff at Morar Living (Hermitage House). Every one of them have been lovely, kind and caring. They show a genuine interest in her wellbeing. After a horrible experience at her last care home, where she was neglected and ignored,
it has brought relief to us all that she finally is getting her dignity back. The review isn't long enough to thank you all for a wonderful place to live.

I cannot recommend highly enough!
Having had to make the very difficult decision to placing Mum in a nursing home, the Management team at Hermitage House and the care team couldn't have made the transition any easier. The personal touches from the girls, the genuine care shown, regular updates given
have been invaluable. The whole team are lovely, friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble!
Beautiful rooms, super modern decor with all the up to date equipment required in a central location is perfect.

What an amazing care home. My parents moved in over three months ago. They are full of praise for Hermitage House and are very happy and settled there. Every member of staff we have met is extremely caring and supportive: senior and junior care staff, nurses, maintenance man, chef, manager and deputy,
receptionist, activities co-ordinator and cleaners. They are all so caring and respectful to our parents, and also to family members. I love information that the app gives us. It keeps us in touch with how our parents are and what they are doing; sometimes it even includes photos of them enjoying particular activities.
My father initially moved in for a fortnight's respite care only. He is very independent and has very high standards. He had absolutely no intention of staying a minute longer than the two weeks respite. But he was so impressed with the food, accommodation and care, that he decided to stay on as a resident within the first few days of his respite care.

The care from all staff at Hermitage House is exemplary and the ambience, food, and environment are all outstanding. Nurses and Carers update an App many times a day, which as next of kin we are to able view the care notes. You may expect to only see medical updates, however, also included, for example,
"Settled in room with feet up, a cup of tea, slice of cake and reading his newspaper. Relaxed and content today." Both my parents are residents and they appreciated chef visiting to discuss their favourite dishes. The staff member looking after Maintenance has helped to hang numerous pictures in their rooms, along with tune TVs. Being located beside a park gives an opportunity for a lovely short walk.

My Gran has been in hermitage house for 5 weeks and the carers and nursing staff have been absolutely incredible! From getting to know Gran and updating us on the smallest of things to settle your mind! My gran was unsure about going into a care home and now she sees it as her own. From the handyman
to the manager, the staff are perfect! The handyman goes above and beyond to make the residents feel like their rooms are their own! They have an app that updates you on their care plan and the rooms and cleanliness are 5 stars, feels more like a hotel than a nursing home!

Welcome to Hermitage House in Helensburgh. My Name is Lynn Cumming and I am the Care Home Manager. I have been extremely lucky to be part of this amazing home since its opening in Jan 2022. I and my staff have had the privilege of being involved in the commissioning of a brand new luxury care home.


Here at Hermitage House, our main focus is on our residents, and we are very passionate about providing excellent standards of care. Our stunning home combined with our excellent staff allows everyone to get the very best out of life. We encourage our residents to enjoy and maintain a full and active lifestyle.


I have been nursing for over 15 years and found my passion for working with the elderly, Care Homes are where I have spent the duration of my working career devoting time to training and developing staff members. This is most definitely my biggest achievement to date. I am passionate about being able to offer staff the opportunity to progress in their career in a job that they enjoy, which more importantly improves the quality of care.


We provide long term, short term, dementia, palliative, and respite care.
