Fleming Court has the feel of a hotel rather than a care home which meant a lot to my mother when we looked around. The building is well designed with excellent facilities. The staff are friendly and caring and often have a smile for you. I was very happy with the care my mother received.

We have always found the staff in Fleming Court very friendly, helpful and professional when we have visited. The surroundings are very nice and the facilities are always kept to a high standard.

The home is clean, warm and comfortable with lots of really good facilities e.g. A small cinema, numerous lounges etc. The staff are friendly and approachable and always willing to help.
My sister's room is quiet, clean and warm. She is very comfortable and happy in her new home. There are no smells
of stale food or body waste, unlike some care homes.

The staff at Fleming Court are excellent and have provided sensitive care for my mother. When her health has faltered, then staff have responded promptly and used their experience to help her to recover.
The staff are also very welcoming to visitors - it feels like an extended family.

My father has only been here for 24 hours so it is difficult to come to a final conclusion.
However, early impressions are very favourable.
It's a new modern building with very nice individual rooms and very good communal areas.
Have not yet met many staff members but those that we have met are all
cheery, helpful and caring.
Excellent catering and family can book in for meals when visiting.
Don't know about activities yet.

My mother was given a very warm welcome when she arrived.
The staff have been excellent, always polite and attentive. They have been caring and happy to accommodate my mother's particular needs. The room is very comfortable, clean and well laid out.

This is an outstanding care home.
The facilities are top notch and the staff are caring, personable and dedicated. They are most helpful with relatives - be it visits or phone calls.
Ps. Why not install a computer or 2 for guests to use so they can enjoy an internet café.

Excellent surroundings, staff always welcoming. Activities are very important. My mother is again beginning to do more stimulating things.
The downside, belongings do go missing in her room. Clothing also gets muddled.

After much research for a care provider for my uncle, we chose Fleming Court. The standard of care my uncle received, was extremely good, the staff took great care of him, showing respect and treating him with dignity. Daily activities and trips out were varied and well co-ordinated, whilst the front
of house staff kept us informed of forthcoming events.


The home itself, is beautiful, with good facilities. The resident rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped, it was nice that we were able to add personal items to make it more comfortable. The food is nutritious and meals varied, it was nice that we could sit and have a meal also.


Little touches such as having hairdressers on site, tuck shop to buy sweets and delivery of daily papers, made it pleasant for him.


I highly recommend Fleming Court.

Good care with attentive staff. Love the décor and ambience of Fleming Court Care Home. Hospitable to visitors. An odd meal not as good as others and room 7 needs a toilet roll holder fitted on wall.

Moved to Fleming Court to be nearer to my family. The staff have made the transition as smooth as this process can be. The staff are kind, respectful and caring. The home is very well kept. Family are welcomed. It is a warm and homely place.

I would have preferred to be offered a shower more often. I would like to be offered a chance to go out of the house. I felt that I had to get up early as everyone wanted help to get out of bed at the same time.


During the day I appreciated being taken to the toilet when I needed to go.


I didn't

always get a bib when I requested one, which made my clothes messy.


Some staff would benefit from being reminded about how to fit hearing aids.

Thank you for your positive feedback and here at Fleming court we always welcome suggestions of areas to improve. Showers facilities are in every bedroom, to address this I will advise my staff to offer a shower each day at a time appropriate for yourself. We have outstanding gardens, parks and locations around Newcastle, there are staff who would escort you outside weather permitting. Our wellbeing coordinators would also support you and I am also recruiting more staff to be available. The Laundry Department have plenty of protective garments for mealtimes and insist staff only need to collect items from the laundry. Lastly I do apologise for ill-fitting hearing aids, this week I had a meeting with Vision call who will be conducting training at Fleming Court, this will provide a better service in regards to hearing and vision services.

Light switch by the bed too high to switch off if in bed at night.
Encouragement required to sit with others at meal times.
More fruit and fresh produce green vegetables required. Endless stews are indigestible.
Initial introduction on arrival was poor, left to her own devices.

The health and wellbeing of all our Residents is very important to us. We are delighted to hear your positive comments with regards to our home and the support you received via our care team. We have recently appointed two excellent and highly experienced chefs to join our hospitality team and have also arranged for monthly meetings with our Residents to enable us to receive regular feedback on our hospitality services. Fresh fruit is also now available in the dining area each day. Our Home Manager operates an open door policy and is happy to assist both Residents and family members with any concerns they may have. We also hold monthly staff meetings and Resident/Relative meetings to discuss any issues or ideas to improve the Resident experience.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Getting to know the person and taking time to listen.”


As a Heath Care Professional, Karen has gained a wealth of experience in providing care support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One for 12 years, Karen closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Karen remarked:


“Watching the interaction between Residents and staff and watching them laugh together.”


Karen has also achieved much outside of work, she has completed a 1500ft sky dive for the Neonatal ward in Sheffield.”


Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
