Juniper House is a beautiful modern home, which is at the heart of the local community, next door to a GP surgery.

Providing residential and dementia care, the home also provides respite care breaks, which can be pre-booked in advance.

There are regular visits from toddlers from the local nursery, who join the residents for activities. The home has strong links with the local Age UK group, and hosts community coffee mornings, inviting local people to join the residents for a catch up over coffee and cake.

The gardens are stunning and are overlooked by a beautiful garden room, where residents take part in activities, from a book club and arts and crafts, to a knitting club and music. The gardens are surrounded by wheelchair friendly pathways and are a wonderful space to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time.

Juniper House also has a minibus, for residents to enjoy trips out into the community.

And next door is the Noble House retirement living scheme, which has a bistro, which residents are welcome to visit. The scheme also welcomes residents across for events and celebrations. It also has a hair salon, where they can enjoy regular hair appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

The residents enjoy delicious, home cooked meals in Juniper’s dining rooms, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays. And residents are welcome to dine in the neighbouring bistro.

Their bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished, with walk in wet room showers. There are adjoining and larger rooms for couples.

The home is a stone’s throw from the centre of St John’s, which has shops, cafés and a library. There is also a large car park for visitors.

Care is very good - all rooms are en-suite and well furnished. Food is excellent. We know that our mother is happy living there and she is getting the best possible care.

My mother-in-law recently died after two and a half years in Juniper House having being admitted due to dementia. In the last couple of months she was critically failing in her physical and mental capacity.
She was given consideration, care and dignity in response to her needs which she would of struggled
to communicate. On visiting the staff was very willing to talk about had she was eating/management etc.
The senior nurse manager gave us a clear and informative guideline answering any questions with honesty as it became clear she was rapidly declining.
This was very helpful during the last few weeks of her life and after her death.

The staff are friendly and efficient. The onboarding of my mother was both sympathetic and easy. They were so thoughtful and kind- nothing was too much trouble. Mum is always clean and happy and the staff all seem to really care for each other and the patients.

All the staff at Juniper House are caring and considerate no matter what their role might be. The staff that care for the residents are well trained and will use their initiative when needed, keeping the relatives well informed. My only criticism is that the food in the way it is presented is not appetizing
enough to someone who is or has been very ill and does not have dementia. However the staff are more than willing to find something to tempt a failing appetite.

End of live care excellent, My friend had been in Sanctuary from 2010. Staff are very kind, caring to client and relatives. I found questions would be answered and dealt with. one which was difficult the laundry lost not found. The home should be on TV for people to see a good home.

My mother was moved in August into this brand new home. She now has a bigger room, complete with en-suite wet-room. She likes this very much as it is total luxury for her with a lovely dining room and lounge. As most of the staff moved over as well she appreciates this.

Mom could no longer support herself at home despite family and professional support. She had had a couple of falls and knew in her own mind more support than could be provided at home was necessary, however she was still a reluctant admission to Juniper House. Within 48 hours she felt at home, enjoying
the security and the companionship of both other residents and staff. This was due entirely to the kindness of the staff and the professional standard of care provided without any compromise to her dignity. Juniper House was originally intended as respite while she completed the part purchase of a 'supported apartment'. Suffice to say she has pulled out of the purchase and has elected to remain at Juniper House.
