Kingfisher Court is located in the market town of Sutton-in-Ashfield and provides friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 66 residents. All bedrooms offer single en suite wet rooms to support residents' dignity and privacy. Kingfisher Court benefits from a coffee shop area, quiet lounges and it is situated in its own private, landscaped gardens.

A wide range of activities is offered and care is tailored to each resident who lives at Kingfisher Court. Residents living with dementia receive friendly dementia care, provided by colleagues who are fully trained. The care team provides individual and compassionate care by getting to know each individual and building strong relationships with them and their loved ones.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has more than 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people. I can see my mum is being well cared for at Kingfisher Court both in how she looks and the clean and friendly atmosphere in the home. All staff are working as a team to provide the kind of care anyone would want for their mother. By now my mum needs everything doing for her and I know the staff are
kind and professional in the way they deliver her care. There is no doubt that my brother and I could not look after her without everyone at Kingfisher Court. As well as all of this, the social team engage her in activities which is a real benefit.

My mum joined Kingfisher a couple of months ago and has settled in very well. Everyone is so welcoming and always have time to put my mind at rest when I ring to see if my mum is OK. It was heartbreaking at first for her and the family but I saw her today and she's happy. Kingfisher Court is a lovely

Mum has been a resident for about six months and in that time my dad passed away unexpectedly. The home has been fantastic and supported Mum through her grief. The level of care is genuinely outstanding and we couldn't ask for a better home for Mum.

Amazing care home. With broken hearts, we made the hard decision to transfer Mum to 24 hour care. On her day of admission, the care home was again forced due to Covid to take the necessary steps and lockdown the home to protect all their residents and staff, this was extremely hard for our family but
more importantly for our mum, as she was entering a totally new environment and with people she had never met, but from day one we knew she was in safe, caring hands and would be treated with respect and dignity at all times. The manager and her team have been absolutely fabulous, nothing is too much trouble and issues/questions are dealt with promptly and always with a smile. Due to Mum's stroke, she has very limited speech and is totally immobile but the team have worked with our family to understand just exactly what Mum's limited communication means, they have built on this and developed a lovely relationship. Kingfisher Court is now our mum's new home. Thank you team.

My dad joined Kingfisher Court four months ago and he has settled in so well. All of the staff are so warm and welcoming and always happy to chat to me and put my mind at ease over the telephone. The staff have built a lovely relationship with Dad which brings comfort knowing he is looked after with
genuine care. We have been really impressed with how clean Kingfisher is and how much fun they have day to day with all the activities. We are really happy with Dad's placement. Well done and thank you for everything Kingfisher Court!

This whole Covid-19 situation has been very alarming for people who have relatives in care. I could not be happier with the way in which Kingfisher Court has responded to the crisis. They locked down the home and stopped all unnecessary visits very early on in the crisis. Although this means I can't
see my Mum they put in place video calls and have tried to keep the stimulation levels up for their residents. I have called the home a couple of times and they have been very responsive to my Mums needs. Keeping my Mum safe is the most important thing to me and I have no concerns about the way that Kingfisher Court has responded.

My mum had to have a cataract operation and because of dementia, was confused and very stressed. I was allowed to stay with her in the home before and after the operation. I was made so welcome and looked after by all the staff, especially the hostess. Everyone was as concerned for me as they were for
my mum. The atmosphere in the home is lovely.

I love this care home! So pleased we found it.
Warm, friendly environment, light and spacious. All-inclusive makes so much difference - no longer all those worries of how to get Mum to the doctors etc. She loves getting her daily papers and enjoys her visits to the lovely hairdresser. Staff care about
their work and make a point of getting to know the residents and spending time talking to them as well as doing all their other duties. All the management and their staff are very approachable and make time to listen to any family concerns and follow through if any action is needed.
This care home is better than any I have seen before by miles.

Well situated and located care home close to the hospital and also the green countryside. Light, airy and pleasant rooms and building. Good caring staff. Choice of good food. Outings and activities arranged. Staff take the time to talk to residents. Management is good and listens, acting on good suggestions.
The ambience of the building and surroundings is very pleasant with good ambience and atmosphere in the care home. Excellent having on-site incorporated facilities, such as hairdressing. Residents are clean and smart and have their privacy respected. Visitors welcomed and encouraged - and also emotionally supported if necessary! Progressive care home - Excellent!

My mother has been a resident at Kingfisher Court for over two years. It is much better than her previous care home despite that one having a good CQC rating.
The staff are permanently employed, not agency, so they get to know the residents. The price is all in so no worries about hospital visits
etc. The management and staff are very approachable as well.

My father was a resident for two years, and during this time he was treated with great care and dignity. The difficult transition from home to care home was made easier by the sensitive way that the manager understood our reservations and emotions as well as reassuring Dad about his anxiety. The care
home offered Dad many choices regarding meals, snack, daily newspapers, social activities and personal space. He was treated with dignity, and the staff went out of their way to liaise with the family in finding out about Dad's interests and background.
My sister and I were particularly impressed by the front of house team and by the senior carers who find time to speak to us regularly about Dad's needs; particularly as he approached the end of his life. We were given excellent support after his death both in their understanding of our feelings and in offering suggestions regarding funeral arrangements. All of this exceeded our expectations and made an emotional period of time easier to cope with.

My mother and father were both in Kingfisher Court and the commitment of the majority of the staff was excellent and in many cases well beyond reasonable expectations. I could not have wished for better care for my parents in their final months.

Well managed care home, my father was resident for 18 months in all and to which every need was met for him. Staff were very helpful and caring for my father, it is unfortunate that he had to be moved into a nursing care facility after his health declined more. Facilities at the home are fantastic,
helped my father with his mobility when needed. Daily exercises, day trips, shopping trips and much more. Management very comforting helpful and also knowledgeable. The home itself is very warm and welcoming, modern, clean and safe, meals are good quality and freshly prepared.

Most of the staff are good/very good; some are exceptional, going above and beyond reasonable expectations.
Both my parents settled in very well, enjoying all that was on offer. Dad especially enjoyed the food, putting on two stone in weight within about 5 months (which he badly needed to do). Mum
had a few health issues but the care and support to us all has been amazing all along; nothing is too much trouble.
We were still able to retain our family unit by occasionally having meals together in the tea room and also having wider family celebrations for their birthdays and a recent big wedding anniversary.
Whenever issues have arisen, they have been dealt with professionally, effectively and promptly whenever possible.
We have got to know some of the staff very well and all the visiting family and friends are always welcomed by our new extended family – thank you staff.

I am passionate about working in care and have always considered myself to be a people person. It is a huge privilege to work with others and to know that I am the driving force behind a service where all people matter. I consider myself to be a kind and empathetic person who is a good listener at all levels.

I have worked in care for a long time, and there are many reasons for this. I love the fact that the smallest of gestures mean the most to others, and if, during the course of my working day I can make others feel valued and genuinely cared for, then I know that I am making a difference to someone’s life. Caring for others is the most rewarding career to have.

An integral part of my role is to forge strong relationships with residents and their families and friends, their input will be fundamental to the quality of the service at Kingfisher Court. I enjoy supporting and developing my staff team to deliver the highest standard of care. I take pride in providing outstanding care to my residents, and having a good team who share the same values is vital to achieving this goal.

I haven’t been here at Kingfisher long, but I have a good feeling about the home, it is such a warm, welcoming, happy place to be. I’m Merv O’Connor, I started at Kingfisher Court in 2023 as the Maintenance Person, I have not worked in care previously, but thoroughly enjoy the change in direction, I left school at 16 and joined the Army as a Combat Medical Technician, travelling and seeing service in a number of locations, upon discharge from the Army, I attended university, obtaining my BA (Hons) in Business, followed by an MA and PhD in Strategic HR and Operational Management, this led to a direction change and I became a business consultant to the food industry, working on a variety of contracts from building factories to developing new products, as well as converting an amusement arcade into my own pub!

Working with the amazing team and residents here at Kingfisher Court makes it worthwhile coming to work!!
