All bedrooms offer single en suite wet rooms to support residents' dignity and privacy. Kingfisher Court benefits from a coffee shop area, quiet lounges and it is situated in its own private, landscaped gardens.

A wide range of activities is offered and care is tailored to each resident who lives at Kingfisher Court. Residents living with dementia receive friendly dementia care, provided by colleagues who are fully trained. The care team provides individual and compassionate care by getting to know each individual and building strong relationships with them and their loved ones.

Kingfisher Court provides a safe place with well thought out modern facilities for the residents. Our mum is treated with dignity and she is well cared for. Over recent months there has been very little activities organised for Cedar floor.
These activities don't have to be outings but much more thought
needs to be given to this. Staffing levels on Cedar floor are not right. On 7th May 8:1 ratio- not satisfactory. The majority of staff are excellent but I wonder if they have the back up they need from manager and director.

The home is 2 years old, all sparkly and new. Unfortunately, the care given is not any better than any other satisfactory/good care home. Quality of staff varies, some are really helpful, others you have to instruct constantly. Activities are very poor, due to a failure to provide staff to do this well.
Dementia residents seem to get put last. Clothes are often placed in the wrong rooms. My relative has been found dressed in others' clothing. The food is good. Directors promise a lot and deliver little. They need to get real and properly address issues in a timely manner.

Our mother has been living at Kingfisher Court for six months having previously lived alone for many years and recently been diagnosed with dementia. Every member of staff we have met has been caring, willing and positive. Mum has been helped to settle in very well. Her room is always clean and tidy.
Her needs are understood and met kindly and consistently well. We are extremely happy with our decision to move mum into Kingfisher Court.

Both my mother and stepfather were admitted to Kingfisher just after the opening of the home. Standards were set very high initially, however, these have not been maintained. My mother passed away just before Christmas, which now leaves my stepfather on his own, the home has shown great compassion during
this awkward time, and it has enabled my stepfather to continue with his life. There are improvements which need to be made to ensure the high initial standards return.

The care staff are absolutely top-notch, couldn't wish for better people to look after a relative, however communication with the next tier of the organisation is non-existent. My Auntie passed away there in November, however, Decembers money was still taken out, (fair enough, these things are very
often automated). But since then we ring them every other day.."yes your money is on its way"..we promise, promise, promise to ring you back" They do not! Also, they managed to lose a wedding photo of my Auntie. But that's ok as they are going to ring back on the progress of looking for it! Also when in the home in the early hours my Auntie took a fall, no one rang, and when mentioned to the Doctor he was surprised there was no call out as she is over 90. Kingfisher said they would get to the bottom of it and ring me on the outcome, nope, no phone called.


The staff are smashing, the communication is non-existent and when your relative passes away you are forgotten.

I have only expereinced the care home for the past three months but during the time, the atmosphere I have found to be exceptional. The caring staff without exception could not, in any way, be bettered. The food is equal to a 4-star hotel. The staff from management right through to cleaners are really
friendly and caring. I would, without reservations, recommend Kingfisher to anyone.

Even though the situation itself of having a relative in a care home is difficult, you could not wish for a more homely and positive atmosphere. The surroundings are second to none with all who visit commenting on what a wonderful place it is. The staff here have hearts of gold and nothing is too much
trouble and they work tirelessly to provide the best care and safe environment for everyone there and who visit.

Kingfisher Court is a new care home that provides excellent individual care of a very high standard. As in all care homes, there is room for improvement in some areas but overall staff are caring and supportive to both residents and their families. It has a modern, friendly, relaxed, clean and caring
environment offering great entertainment for those able to take part. I would highly recommend this home to any family.

I have found the staff at the home very understanding as I had reservations about my grandmother coming into a home. The management and staff put my mind to rest and I have now seen the good work.
I have a food allergy which is catered for every time I eat with my grandmother. We now have had experience
of every floor due to the deterioration of my grandmother and I feel all floors are excellent and correct for the residents.

Nowhere is 100 per cent perfect but this home comes close.
I feel mum is cared for and safe. It is a happy environment. Mum has always eaten nutritious meals, though simple, the meals here for mum sometimes are too rich or as she says "fancy" so in this area they could cater for a more simple palette.

Fantastic care home. All the staff are amazing. Very caring and thoughtful towards the resident. The entertainment is really good and they have lots of activities every day to keep everyone active and entertained. The best in the area we have in Ashfield. Can't praise the home enough. Amazing.

On first entering Kingfisher Court you are immediately impressed by the welcoming decor of the reception, which during the day is always manned by someone who again is extremely professional and welcoming.
The standard of all rooms is excellent, clean and functional.
The communal dining room and
lounge are well laid out and have lovely furniture.
We especially like the Tea/coffee lounge, cinema and library.
Staff and management are excellent and well led. Staffing levels are also good.
Food and nutrition are again excellent.
The owners are very hands-on and are available to listen, assist and help when required and go above and beyond to satisfy you.
Stimulation via activities again is excellent via a dedicated Lifestyle Manager. The Christmas timetable has been excellent, having attended many events.
In summary, I would highly recommend Kingfisher Court to anyone who is looking for an all-inclusive, high quality, well managed residential care home for their family.

I called to see if I could visit a relative in your care home. The receptionist was extremely polite and a credit to the Sutton-in-Ashfield home.
The carer came out of the lift did not come to me but shouted to me "She doesn't want to see you". This is very poor communication and she should at least
come up to me and not let everyone know in reception that my relative had refused to see me. Refusing to see me is not a problem, the problem is the member of staff that made me feel inferior, you need to sort this kind of attitude from staff to the general public, who at some point in time may be thinking of putting the life of a relative or friend in your hands.

On my first visit to see my 87-year old sister I was bowled over by this care home. Firstly it is spotlessly clean, with gleaming loos and bathrooms. Secondly, and let’s not beat around the bush, it is as fragrant as any 5-star hotel! Most importantly, the kindness of the owners and their team is way
beyond any normal expectation.


The public areas are spacious, light and designed along the lines of mid-budget hotels with absolutely no institutional feel and the private rooms and en-suite facilities equally good.


The highlight, though, is the top-down thoughtful care offered. Staff are a constant presence and all go out of their way to offer generous assistance. From the friendly chef to the unbelievably kind housekeeping staff, nothing was too much trouble. (My other 80-year old sister, who accompanied me, was taken ill and the help we were given was way beyond the call of duty, even to the extent of offering her a bed for the night and refusing any payment.) To sum up, excellent.

My mother did not want to go into a care home but we struggled to meet her increasing needs as a family. After visiting other homes we settled on Kingfisher Court and sought respite for my mother.
We were so impressed with the care and attention that was given to my mum and all of the residents we
decided to make this a permanent home for mum.
From what I have witnessed nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. They are very kind and encourage residents to take part in the many and varied activities that are on offer. We have always been kept informed of any decisions that may affect mum and they listen and act on any concerns we have had immediately. They genuinely try and succeed in giving the best possible service at all times. I am very pleased and relieved that we have found such a wonderful place for mum to spend her last years. Staff are well trained and always appear happy at work, the management is excellent. The home is beautifully furnished and kept clean.

My mother has been a resident at Kingfisher Court since May 2017 and our whole family are extremely pleased with the excellent care mum receives. Her life has been transformed by the companionship she now has with fellow residents. She loves the many and varied activities on offer at the home and is
particularly pleased that she is taken to church on Sundays.


The atmosphere at the home is extremely friendly; we are treated as family and always feel welcome. The staff are all excellent, they are aware of and maintain, their professional boundaries and treat our mum with the love and respect she deserves.


The 'all inclusive' terms provide us with peace of mind; no unexpected additional costs each month, yet we feel the quality of the provision is exceptional, the person-centred approach to mum's care is so important to her wellbeing and state of mind.


The home is beautifully designed and scrupulously clean. The food is delicious and the menus are often chosen by residents.

After looking at many homes in the area, we are so glad we found this one. If a certain premium lager could do nursing homes they would be like this!


Staff are fantastic and the home is first class, it's like a 5-star hotel for the elderly. All day there are things for the residents to do to keep

active. Each visit the staff welcome you and will give you an update on how things are going. Hairdresser on site and even a cinema.


If you live around the area and have a loved one who needs care this is the place. We are so pleased with the care he is given, food is restaurant quality, the dining area is better than most restaurants I have been in.


I can recommend Kingfisher Court care home to look after your loved one. Go visit to see just how good it is.
They even post daily pictures on Facebook so you can see your loved one having fun and that really makes a difference to be able to check on them when you cannot visit.

I am passionate about working in care and have always considered myself to be a people person. It is a huge privilege to work with others and to know that I am the driving force behind a service where all people matter. I consider myself to be a kind and empathetic person who is a good listener at all levels.


I have worked in care for a long time, and there are many reasons for this. I love the fact that the smallest of gestures mean the most to others, and if, during the course of my working day I can make others feel valued and genuinely cared for, then I know that I am making a difference to someone’s life. Caring for others is the most rewarding career to have.


An integral part of my role is to forge strong relationships with residents and their families and friends, their input will be fundamental to the quality of the service at Kingfisher Court. I enjoy supporting and developing my staff team to deliver the highest standard of care. I take pride in providing outstanding care to my residents, and having a good team who share the same values is vital to achieving this goal.


I am a perfectionist who enjoys the attention to detail that comes with this job, I like to focus on the standards of attainment required to hold the position that I love.

I’m Nicky, I have worked in Health and Social Care for around 17 years now and my work means so much to me.


I enjoy working with people, supporting them, and encouraging them, leading a happy, fulfilled team! I love getting to know the residents that I support, hearing their stories and learning about their lives, and delivering hands-on care, that enables me to develop a person-centred approach.


I haven’t been here at Kingfisher long, but I have a good feeling about the home, it is such a warm, welcoming, happy place to be. I’m sure that I will fit in well here, I work well under pressure and love having an open door to enable both the residents and their families and me to develop a close professional relationship based on honesty and trust. I feel very fortunate to have been given this opportunity and I am grateful for the warm welcome that I have received. My job takes up a lot of my time but when I’m not at work, I spend my time playing with my 3 Children, enjoying the company of my husband, and saying I will go to the gym!

Hi, I'm Claire the Head Housekeeper, I've been cleaning for 8 years now and the best years have been the 3 years working at Kingfisher Court. I enjoy getting to know all the residents as well as maintaining a high standard of cleaning to make their homes as comfortable and welcoming as they possibly can be. There is more to cleaning in my role it is also about engaging with the residents, they become more like family to us.

Mervyn O'Connor

Job Title: Handy Person

I’m Merv O’Connor, I started at Kingfisher Court in 2023 as the Maintenance Person, I have not worked in care previously, but thoroughly enjoy the change in direction, I left school at 16 and joined the Army as a Combat Medical Technician, travelling and seeing service in a number of locations, upon discharge from the Army, I attended university, obtaining my BA (Hons) in Business, followed by an MA and PhD in Strategic HR and Operational Management, this led to a direction change and I became a business consultant to the food industry, working on a variety of contracts from building factories to developing new products, as well as converting an amusement arcade into my own pub!


Working with the amazing team and residents here at Kingfisher Court makes it worthwhile coming to work!!
