The manager was fabulous sorting everything out. The team leader welcomed Mum and got her comfortable. The purpose of Mum's stay was to build her up both in weight and confidence in walking, being independent. So Mum put weight on but the real progress was made in her walking. She started off just
being able to walk to the end of the corridor and back to her room but by the end was doing three laps of both corridors and this was down to the encouragement of the team, good food providing Mum with the stamina to do this and her sheer determination to get back on her feet. Mum slept well, ate well and got well - she still has a way to go, but this stay has made a huge difference to her.
If you want a care home that smells fresh, is modern and homely this is it.

Very good care, all staff made mum very welcome and showed great respect and attention at all times. Mum felt safe and at home at all times. As a daughter, I felt I could go away on holiday and feel safe that mum was in good hands.

When staying at Mayflower Court, it looked very clean and modern, but at mealtimes, the kitchen should stay open until meal times are finished and there is not always enough pudding to go around all the time. They should ask in the early afternoon for dinner menu, they would know what people have asked
for. The price you pay should be enough for everyone at each meal time.

Thank you for your feedback. The kitchen is open throughout the course of the day but has the facility to support customers for any requirement out of these hours. There are also snack stations throughout the home. Menus are displayed within the home and customers are able to choose on a daily basis what they would like to eat.

My widowed mother (94) has recently spent a week's convalescence at Mayflower Court after a number of periods in hospital. This was her first experience of residential care. Both she and her family were impressed by the welcome and reassurance of all the staff, the standard of the premises and the quality
of care. It is good to know that convalescent care of this standard is available and fortunately, on this occasion, at relatively short notice.

As a young active 69 year old, living alone but facing a major operation, I was anxious about moving into a care home. However, after the initial show around I knew Mayflower Court was the right 'convalescence home' for me. The home was spotless, the gardens were a joy to walk around or just to sit
and admire, the food was superb - in fact, I asked the chef for recipes! And finally, but certainly not least the caring staff were just superb. Patient, gentle, kind, very caring are just a few words to describe them - always professional. Just one comment - please use the word 'convalescent' in your marketing/advertising! Mayflower Court - not to be faulted.

We had an occasion to research a dementia care home to look after a dear friend for whom I have full power of attorney. After much searching and deliberation, we settled on Mayflower Court in Westwood Road.
My sister had many happy years in the original Anchor Care Home on this site.
After three months
our friend has gained weight and become much more lucid, even recognising us at times. We are sure this is due to the specialised exceptional care and attention she receives. The staff are well trained and take pride in learning about each individual needs. The Mayflower is light, airy and colourful with large glass windows and plenty of activities available.
We are looking forward to the summer when we can take our friend for a stroll around the beautiful gardens. We are so grateful to know she is safe and secure with all the attention she deserves.

My Mum has just had 4 weeks respite care here we were met by a lady and had a tour of the home all the information we needed was given to us we viewed the room she would be in and met some of the staff who would take care of her. She had her assessment and was able to move in that week. After a long
stay in a hospital, she needed help to get back to normal, with the help of all the staff she is now able to return home.
I would recommend Mayflower court to anyone looking care as they helped my mum back to her normal self.

My father has had dementia for a number of years and until now we have coped with care in his own home, he had always been so determined not to have to go to a home that I honored his wish until a crisis point was reached.
He has moved into Mayflower Court and has settled extremely well and is happy.
It is a delight to see the improvement in his well-being and happiness. The home is a lovely environment and the staff treat him with such dignity acknowledging the man behind the dementia.

My mother was resident here for 12 days and the staff were excellent in keeping my mother stimulated and involved in all events during her stay. The staff made sure she was introduced to other residents as soon as she arrived. Her room was excellent with adequate room for her to stay if she wanted time
to herself. Thanks to all the staff for their attendance while my mother was there.

I moved into Mayflower Court in June. What a fantastic home. On moving in my ability to walk was very minimal, now with help and encouragement, I can walk a little further which is great. The staff have been fantastic in looking after me. My wife moved in with me, so as a couple we are well looked after,
with great meals every day. Cheery staff, what more can we ask for.

Having cared for my mother for the last eight years, I was very concerned about placing her in a care home. However due to her severe dementia it became impossible to care for her at home. I have been amazed at how well she has settled in and I have absolutely no concerns about the way she is being
cared for. All her needs are met and above all she is being treated kindly and with respect. I cannot fault any of the staff here.

Settled in very quickly into the home. She chose her room- she loves the colour scheme, very restful. The staff are very helpful- in her own words she says, "You cannot fault them- there is no pressure." She loves the food and enjoys the company of her friends. The relief in finding a care home where
she feels so safe and at home knowing she is taken care of to a very good standard has lifted a great pressure off the family. We visit often- we find the home has a very pleasant atmosphere.

My Mum stayed for a 1 week respite break. It was her first experience of care and She was reluctant for me to organise respite.
I was impressed at how person centred the care is and how much time is taken to find out what the individual's needs and interests are in order to provide the best care and
ensure that their interests are catered for. Mum is interested in gardening so a trip was arranged so that the residents could buy plants and then plant them in the garden themselves.
The staff were very caring, had an excellent understanding of the needs of someone with dementia and showed a real interest in my Mum when they spoke to her.
Mayflower Court is more like a hotel than a care home and this made the experience much more enjoyable for my Mum as She felt like she was on holiday. She enjoyed the food and there was a great deal of variety.
My Mum and I highly recommend Mayflower Court and Mum will definitely be popping in to visit her new friends. She is planning another 2 week break.

My sister and I were looking for a care home for our mother and found that Mayflower Court has everything Mum would want or need.
The Customer Relations Manager, has so much care, compassion and understanding about the needs of the elderly and the difficulties and emotions experienced by their families
when the time comes for them to relinquish independent living and move into a care home.
Our mother has always been a very private person and fiercely independent but sadly her Dementia means she is unable to continue living on her own.
Mayflower Court will be our choice as it will not only provide all the care and services that Mum needs but the style of accommodation and the attitude of the staff suggests to us that the individual needs and personality traits of each resident are respected and accommodated.
