The environment at Meadow View is beautiful, with spacious bedrooms with walk-in wet rooms, a sun terrace, welcoming lounges, a salon and cinema room.

But it’s the team, who were proud to receive a Good rating in every area in the latest CQC report (August 2023), that make it feel like home. Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance.

Staff are passionate about enriching their residents’ lives, and every single day, come rain or shine, every member of the team stops what they are doing to spend time doing impromptu activities with the residents.

Meadow View is a thriving, vibrant home, where residents enjoy everything from baking, painting, gardening and reminiscence sessions, to pampering, live music and regular visits from their favourite therapy dog.

This summer (July 2023) the staff organised a ‘Virtual Cruise Week’, where they transported residents to countries across the globe. The chef recreated authentic cuisine from Ghana, Portugal and Italy to name but a few, staff dressed to the nines and the residents took part in themed activities.

And talking of food, the home’s chef, who won Best Chef in the South East Region at this year’s Sanctuary Care Chefs’ Conference (2023), makes delicious home-made meals every day, as well as home-baked treats for afternoon tea. She knows her residents’ nutritional needs and what they love to eat, spending time getting their feedback, which shapes her menus. And every day, she creates ‘show plates’ so her residents, particularly those living with dementia who may struggle to choose, can see and smell the food, stimulating their appetite.

The gardens are magnificent, with a summer house, wheelchair-friendly pathways and a water feature. This summer the residents enjoyed growing their own vegetables, harvesting them to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

The staff are incredibly caring and supportive. They display a complex understanding of dementia and utilise various tactics with the residents to ensure they eat well, stay calm, take part in activities and are happy. The staff build a rapport with residents, understand their own history, likes and
dislikes for really personalised care. The home is always excellently clean, the rooms are comfortable and practical for care needs and homely. The staff are attentive also to family members by checking in and offering refreshments, making us feel like we are visiting a relative in their own home. The staff are worth their weight in gold. Definitely an amazing home. I feel they support and look after my relative as if they were their own family member - 5 stars!

My 97-year-old grandmother spent the final three months of her life in Meadow View and the care and attention she was given was exceptional. I will be eternally grateful for their kindness and patience towards her as her health gradually declined. The staff at all levels within the home were amazing
and were always quick to update me on any changes or concerns they had with her. I can never thank them enough and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a place for their loved one to be safe and well looked after.

Mum received exceptional care at Meadow View. It became her home very quickly. Our family was always impressed with the level of cleanliness and organisation, communication from the friendly team was second to none. Overall we could not be happier with Mum's care in this amazing home.

I would like to say my brother was in Meadow View Hersden for several years, the care and patience the staff showed him was amazing. We can’t thank them enough. Sadly he died but even in the end, they were the most caring anyone could ask for. I cannot thank them enough.

Mum went into repsite at Meadow View Care Home four times before she went into permanent care in November 2023. Each time she went in she was happy to return so we knew that we had got her in the right place now. She is very happy there and is well looked after and cared for. She always seems happy
when we go in to see her every week. The staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

The staff are the stand out strength at Meadow View Residential Care Home. My mum is in her 90s, frail, but very with it and has been resident for 3 years.
The staff are fantastic, the chef who drops into residents' rooms and makes time to chat about what they like and dislike, others who spend time
doing nails (and telling mum about their lives at the same time), others who have popped in on their day off with their friend and their baby as mum just loves babies and another who had been told where mum went for her honeymoon and stopped off to take a photo when she was on holiday, got it developed and gave it to mum. She treasures it and it’s these little things which make residents feel valued and loved.
I went in unannounced at midnight last week because Mum had been poorly and found a member of staff sitting in her room holding her hand because she was feeling low. The Meadow View team are really superb. Really glad CQC recognised the excellent manager and her team.

First-class service from start to finish. Very caring staff who took great care of my stepfather during his one-week respite care. Everything was very clean, lots of activities and could not fault. Ensuite rooms all well cared for and would not hesitate to place my stepfather in the home long term if
the need ever arises.

The facilities were excellent. All members of staff were helpful, approachable, knowledgeable and caring. Communication regarding my mother's condition could not have been better. Although only a resident for a short period of time we could not have asked for more from the whole team at Meadow View.

Mum has been in Meadow View for nearly 5 months now and I cannot speak more highly of them. The management and staff are wonderful, cheerful, really caring and understand her needs.
Mum mixes very well with the other residents and takes part in the activities. Meadow View is very good at communicating
with the family and responds well and promptly if there are concerns. I have real peace of mind that Mum is in the best place possible.
Thank you for everything you do for my mum.
PS the food looks delicious, especially your cakes!

Mum has dementia, such a hard decision for anyone to put their loved one into care. Meadow VIew has enabled Mum to still live independently, but with the help and guidance she needs. She has settled in quickly and is happy. Thank you all.

My husband recently spent a week at Meadow View for respite care; he has vascular dementia. This was our first experience of respite care and I was very anxious about how he would cope. The staff I met and spoke to prior to his stay were very helpful and were able to answer all the questions I had and
put me at ease.
The communal rooms are clean and bright and felt very comfortable. My husband's bedroom was spacious and had a walk-in shower and a toilet en-suite. There was an armchair and a TV in the room, so he could sit quietly if he chose to. The staff who welcomed him and settled him into his room when he arrived were excellent. They appeared to have a good understanding of his needs and I felt confident leaving my husband in their care. When I collected him at the end of the week it was obvious that he had built a good rapport with the staff who had been caring for him and I would have no hesitation in booking him in for further periods of respite care in the future.

This was my first visit to Meadow View. I was in the house for 1 and a half hours and saw only the entrance, screening room and my cousin's room. I met only two members of staff - so my knowledge and experience are limited.
I was impressed by the pleasant and professional approach of the staff who
received and screened us and the staff member who served tea.
The home seems attractive and well run.

The management and staff at Meadow View Residential Care Home are very friendly and professional. There is always a warm welcome from the receptionist and the managers. The care staff are very passionate about looking after my mother and are always busy doing everything they can for her, nothing is
too much trouble. The entertainments team, cleaning team, catering and maintenance teams are fantastic. Mum is always telling me how much she enjoys living at Meadow View and well she is looked after her which is a great comfort when it has been so difficult to get to see her because of the Covid restrictions. We are extremely grateful for everything they do for Mum. I have no hesitation in recommending Meadow View to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.557)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.557) out of 10 for Meadow View Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.907 for Meadow View Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.907

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadow View Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
