The environment at Meadow View is beautiful, with spacious bedrooms with walk-in wet rooms, a sun terrace, welcoming lounges, a salon and cinema room.

But it’s the team, who were proud to receive a Good rating in every area in the latest CQC report (August 2023), that make it feel like home. Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance.

Staff are passionate about enriching their residents’ lives, and every single day, come rain or shine, every member of the team stops what they are doing to spend time doing impromptu activities with the residents.

Meadow View is a thriving, vibrant home, where residents enjoy everything from baking, painting, gardening and reminiscence sessions, to pampering, live music and regular visits from their favourite therapy dog.

This summer (July 2023) the staff organised a ‘Virtual Cruise Week’, where they transported residents to countries across the globe. The chef recreated authentic cuisine from Ghana, Portugal and Italy to name but a few, staff dressed to the nines and the residents took part in themed activities.

And talking of food, the home’s chef, who won Best Chef in the South East Region at this year’s Sanctuary Care Chefs’ Conference (2023), makes delicious home-made meals every day, as well as home-baked treats for afternoon tea. She knows her residents’ nutritional needs and what they love to eat, spending time getting their feedback, which shapes her menus. And every day, she creates ‘show plates’ so her residents, particularly those living with dementia who may struggle to choose, can see and smell the food, stimulating their appetite.

The gardens are magnificent, with a summer house, wheelchair-friendly pathways and a water feature. This summer the residents enjoyed growing their own vegetables, harvesting them to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

Making the decision to put my mum in a care home in the middle of a pandemic was really hard, especially when I only had a couple of days to make the decision due to the circumstances. However, it was the best decision - my mum has been so happy there. Honestly, it has been many years since I've seen
her this happy. The staff are amazing, always friendly and helpful.

Although, initially being very upset and apprehensive when my mum had to move into Meadow View, I was soon reassured we had made the right choice as all the staff and the manager were so kind and understanding and went out of their way to help my mum settle in, even moving her to a room with a lovely
view over the garden, which she loves. The care and kindness have continued in almost two years since my mum moved in. It is such as relief to know Mum is safe and being so well looked after. Each and every one of the staff has been so compassionate and treated Mum with dignity and respect. They have kept me regularly updated regarding Mum's health and any concerns when she has been unwell, and the kindness shown to me has also helped me to cope with the sadness of Mum's illness. I also cannot praise the care home enough for the way they have dealt with the Coronavirus pandemic, and the care they have given to the residents during this time.

My mother was a resident at Meadowview from 2016 through to when she sadly passed on 23rd January this year. I felt she was always safe, well cared for and all the staff contributed to making her stay as enjoyable, stimulated and interesting as they possibly could by providing different activities.
Mum always enjoyed her food and residing at Meadow View suited her very well, the dining room is delightful and the food, good and varied with a nice ambience providing an excellent opportunity for the all-important social interaction. The lounge also, an excellent meeting place to catch up over a cup of tea and cake.
The manager, well where do I start? Sadly with Coronavirus, his job became incredibly hard but due to his absolute dedication, together with that of his staff who all speak so highly of him, they got through it thankfully although of course, it is an ongoing problem albeit hopefully to a lesser degree. I can only thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

I cannot praise or recommend this nursing home highly enough. Ever since my dad as been there he has been treated with love respect and dignity. My father caught Covid and passed away on January 25th. Through the 2 weeks of him having Covid, I was updated 3 times a day on his condition and FaceTime
by a care assistant who showed love passion. The team leader and care assistants were angels as my dad went through a bad spell and they looked after him and the love they gave my dad is second to none. Big respect to the manager for giving my dad time to adjust and great support from the deputy manager and receptionist and all the staff. I shall remember the laughs and tears, thank you, Meadow View for making my dad happy and now at peace.

I would highly recommend Meadow View Care Home, the care all staff gave to my mum in her last year of life was second to none, she couldn't have been better cared for. The room she was in was very light and airy, she had clean clothes every day and there was never a bad odour in the room. all in all,
I was very impressed with all the staff and procedures put in place to make mums final year comfortable.

I am most grateful to the manager and all the staff at Meadow View Residential Care Home for the wonderful manner in which they have looked after my husband and all the residents during the lockdown period and kept us informed about their wellbeing. In addition, this week they kindly made it possible
for a distanced visit on the occasion of our birthdays which are only three days apart, the first time I had seen him since early Feburayr and he looked and sounded very well. So, many thanks to them all.

Dad has been here for 10/11 months. Very slow to settle as this wasn't really what he wanted. Finally, I think he is getting used to it. Unfortunately, the lockdown has caused him a lot of distress and isolation being completely separated from family. The staff has been amazing with the forced situation,
giving a lot of time to help out. Visiting has been half-hour slots and very limited outside under the gazebo. Windy and noisy with loud traffic noise and building site noise. Management has listened and been very understanding of our frustrations and bent over backward to help us stay connected. No cases of COVID-19 means everyone has done an amazing job. Just desperate for him to get back to the real world again and out of confinement, safe and well.

The management and staff have done a superb job of looking after my mother and all residents during this extremely difficult period with Covid-19. They are very professional caring and have kept the residents and themselves safe. I couldn't ask for better care for my mother who reached 100 years on
June 16th was given a great celebration by Meadow View despite all the restrictions.

Excellent care during lockdown - remained virus-free and the staff have gone above and beyond their duties to keep the residents safe and happy. The staff are BRILLIANT! They show care to us relatives too during this difficult time.
We are now able to visit, albeit socially distanced and the staff
have shown much compassion to their residents' needs.

The family of resident (three children and one daughter in law) has been trying to learn more about the conditions she is living in. We appreciate COVID makes things different. Considering we were unable to actually visit the home, information about rooms and services were not readily forthcoming (no
plans of rooms), communication has been difficult with a delayed contract, outlining what is and is not included in the package, poor communication with the phone more likely than not being unanswered.

Worrying lack of action and information about complaints of pain by my mother-in-law concerning her knee.

Today one of her sons, tried to reschedule an appointment to see his mother from 11:30 25 June (which he was told was the first available appointment) to an earlier time which another son, said were available from 20th June.

We have not seen her for months. Until her move to Meadow View we have been confident about her care but not now. Can't answer questions.

In these unprecedented times, my father has been kept safe and well because of the foresight of staff and managers. PPE was accessed at the beginning of this pandemic, which kept staff and residents safe. All staff and residents were tested all came back negative. Thank you.

Staff are always friendly and will answer your questions to the best of their knowledge. My mum seems to love the staff, and they are excellent with her. They always contact me if there is any change with Mum eg medication/lack of appetite and if she is even feeling a bit down.

I am very happy with the way my mother is looked after in this care home. I'm sure if she had not come in last July, she would no longer be with us. She has had very good care from all the staff and management.

The staff at Meadow View care home are fantastic; showing care and attention to the needs of the individual. They have enabled my mum to have the best quality of life that is possible for someone in their late nineties suffering with dementia. The highest accolade is that throughout the COVID-19 crisis
they have worked tirelessly to keep the residents safe and well and there are no words powerful enough to thank them for that in this truly awful time for so many.

One of the great things about this Care Home is the very caring staff who all look after my mother with respect, dignity and good humour. Her day to day needs have changed over time and they have been quick to respond. Any medical issues have been dealt with quickly and I feel happy that my mother
is being cared for in the best way possible for her. All the staff are well informed and able to tell me how she has been during the week or on that particular day when I visit. Communication is good, the Senior Staff will phone me whenever necessary and update me with any current issues.

My mother has dementia and required respite care on two recent occasions and Meadow View was the right choice after viewing several care homes in the area.
The staff at Meadow View were exceptional in assisting with the care and respite required for my mother, particularly as she is also blind. I viewed
the care home, including the garden, TV lounge (with two budgies), restaurant and the available bedroom on the ground floor and discussed the care plan my mother would require. The meal menus are great and my mother commented on how good they were and how much she enjoyed them, she even had her nails painted whilst in respite. The Care Home was safe and secure for my mother, especially having everything she required on the ground floor with key coded entrance/exit doors.
All of the staff are very caring and I would certainly recommend this home as a safe, caring environment for those we love.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.557)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.557) out of 10 for Meadow View Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.907 for Meadow View Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.907

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadow View Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
