I have been staying here for three weeks now and can say it has been a very easy transition. From my first introduction to the staff, I felt so comfortable and at home. Not only have I made new friends but I have discovered that my new friends share connections within our local community. The food is
of good variety and quality. There is a cinema which has become the centre of our everyday entertainment where we choose the evening's entertainment.

This care home is fantastic. The staff are so caring and kind and looked after Dad so well for the relatively brief period he was a resident. Also gave Mum the support she needed in the couple of weeks before Dad passed away.

Both my parents were admitted on an emergency basis, my mum first then my dad. My dad has now passed away and my mum has settled well into the care home. The staff provide good personalised care for my mum, which provides her with the support and structure she needs due to her Alzheimer's.

My sister has been a resident at Mearns View Care Home for a few months now. The care she is getting is first-class and the accommodation is very nicely done with beautiful rooms and gardens. The cafe is a favourite place to meet with her and have a chat over a coffee and some homemade cake! The cinema
room is also a favourite. The staff are just brilliant and nothing is too much bother for them. The manager, deputy manager and team do a really great job looking after her! She is very happy at Mearns View and as a family, we are content knowing she is getting first-class care and attention at all times. I would highly recommend Mearns View for anyone wanting and needing the exceptional care this home gives.

My mum was recently in Mearns View Care Home for respite care while I was on holiday. This is her second stay. She enjoyed it so much she wanted to go back. The facilities are excellent. Lovely rooms and public areas with beautiful furnishings. All the staff I encountered were exceptionally kind, thoughtful
and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble. My mum is very fussy about her food and she really enjoyed her meals during her stay. I would definitely recommend Mearns View Care Home.

My mum went to Mearns View Care Home for respite while I was on holiday. She really enjoyed her stay. She was kept busy with daily activities and enjoyed the company.
Mealtimes were enjoyable with nice meals, she also enjoyed the entertainment room with movies.
Getting her hair done was an added
bonus as she cannot manage this herself. She tells her friends that she had a great time and wants to go back when I next have a holiday. This was great to hear.

Excellent staff, always attentive and caring towards residents and their guests.
Amazing facilities are always kept to a very high standard - never have to worry about cleanliness. Nurses are on hand 24/7 and have a wide variety of activities.

I can’t praise the staff enough, nothing is ever a problem. It is welcoming, always clean with all the facilities you would expect at home with so much more. As a regular visitor, I find it comfortable and relaxing with all the privacy we would need available at all times. Highly recommend.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Mearns View Care Home. From the manager, the nursing staff, activity organiser to the housekeeping staff all have been amazing. They welcomed my husband into their care which in turn lifted the heavy load of caring for my husband from my family’s shoulders.
Great food and comfortable living and socialising areas and a variety of activities, mean that residents have all they could wish for. As a family, we are so grateful that this place exists.

Our mum was in the care home (which we refer to as the luxury 5 star hospice) only for a week for end of life palliative care, before she passed away peacefully. We cannot rate Mearns View Care Home highly enough, we had the most positive experience during a very difficult time. Our mum received exemplary
care and was treated with utmost dignity, respect and compassion. Her room was so homely and she was very comfortable there. We filled it with family photos, personal bits and bobs and flowers. The whole care home is beautifully decorated, and very well thought through with incredible attention to detail. Our daughter very much enjoyed the beautiful gardens and playpark when she was visiting too. All of the staff are incredible and made us feel so welcome and at home, so that we could be at Mum's side during her last few days. They took the time to get to know us and were so supportive and understanding. We are delighted we found this place. Highly recommend. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Mearns View is a brand new care facility who were able to accommodate my mum when we needed emergency respite care. She is now a permanent resident, and although leaving the same home she had lived in for 57 years she has settled incredibly well. Every member of staff is warm, welcoming and caring.
The facilities make friends and family welcome - having a cafe, outside seating and flat garden paths to walk around. A play area is perfect for visiting great grandchildren. My mum really enjoys the food which is a great compliment from her!

The nursing care given to my friend was exceptional, The nursing staff were very attentive and caring during his brief stay. He was very comfortable and peaceful. We we're very pleased with the personal care and attention he was given as an individual. They couldn't do enough for him. It felt like a
five-star hotel accommodation and would certainly recommend this home to anyone.

The care that my mother got at Mearns View was above and beyond what I and my family could ever have imagined after her six months in the hospital. The staff from the nursing and care side were fantastic. All the staff were so friendly and made the family so welcome at each visit. The nursing staff
kept us informed with very important information at the times when my mother's health was deteriorating, very professional, and totally empathised with the situation. Was so comforting to know that Mum was being cared for by the staff and was with family through the most distressing time of our lives at the point of losing our dearest mother. I could not fault any care my mother received at the home and was only glad this was where she spent her last days in your care. The facilities and rooms are of excellent standards, unfortunately, Mum was not well enough to have more time there. Thank you to all the staff again for your care. It is very much appreciated.

Needing respite care quickly for an elderly relative, Mearns View was the choice.
The staff were kind and attentive, and nothing was too much bother in the settling-in process. During this time, it was decided to make the placement permanent as another family member needed nursing care. Again timing,
placing, and conditioning were excellent. The comfort and beautiful surroundings are apparent, but the quality of the management and staff were the deciding factor in the decision to stay.

Terry

Terry Blackwood

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Terry is the appointed Home Manager for Mearns View and brings a wealth of experience having started in the care sector as a Care Assistant and then having progressed having gained his BSc in Mental Health Nursing. He has held previous roles of Unit Manager, Deputy Manager and more recently a Home Manager in the local area.


Terry has a genuine passion for the nursing profession and caring for others and working in the care in his own words is a great privilege and allows me to support others achieve their own personal goals by helping them live a life that is full and not dominated by diagnosis.


Ana

Ana Santos

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2023

Ana is the Deputy Manager at Mearns View Care Home. For the past 15 years, she has been working in the healthcare sector. Following her Accountancy degree, Ana worked as an Accountant in Barcelona before moving back to Portugal to look after a close family member.


Ana’s interest in Nursing developed then and she decided to go back to university and qualify as a Nurse. She graduated as a nurse in Lisbon and worked for a private care home in Portugal for 8 years before moving to Edinburgh in 2016 where she worked as progressed to a deputy manager position. Ana moved to Glasgow in 2022 and is excited to join the team at Mearns View.


Toni

Toni Docherty

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2023

Toni has joined the team as our Administrator and brings with her a wealth of experience in this field.


Toni is looking forward to getting to know all of our residents and their families.


In her spare time, Toni enjoys spending time with her family and walking her dog Ben.


Lewis

Lewis Pringle

Job Title: Head Chef

Lewis has been appointed as our Head Chef. Lewis has worked in the catering industry for over 30 years in Scotland. Lewis has worked in various hotels, restaurants, production kitchens and care homes. Lewis loves to cook, especially comfort food with good produce. Lewis lives local to the care home and when he isn’t standing over the hot cooker, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and watching sports.


Lewis loves to involve the residents in the planning of the menus to ensure that everyone is catered for.

Linda Beedham

Linda has been a cook for 30 years. This is Linda’s second time working in a care home but she thoroughly enjoys this. In the past, Linda ran a gold hotel, and microbrewery and was a mobile chef. In her spare time, Linda enjoys horse riding and cooking for her family. Linda also spends her time cooking for the homeless.

Ilze is originally from Latvia. When Ilze lived in Latvia, she completed a university degree in economics and worked as a project manager. After this, Ilze moved to Scotland where she started working as a Housekeeper for various companies. Most recently, Ilze has been working in the care home sector as a head housekeeper. Ize loves working in the care sector as she loves being able to use her skills and knowledge to help people.

Jane is employed as a registered nurse at Mearns View. She has been a nurse for 26 years and is dual-trained (Adult and Mental Health Nursing). Jane knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse as her gran was a mental health nurse and she loved to listen to the stories she told. Her main passion is delivering exceptional dementia care and palliative care. In her spare time, Jane enjoys walking her dogs, hillwalking with her partner, gardening, cooking, and baking. Jane is also trained in martial arts.

Barbara has been a nurse for several years and has lots of care home experience. Barbara has worked at Mearns View since it opened in May. Barbara enjoys spending time with her family on her days off and going for meals. Barbara also enjoys reading and relaxing with her cat, Katie.

Adela has worked at Mearns View since opening. Adela has always wanted to be a nurse to fulfil the desire to help others, she graduated in August 2022.

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Sarah has worked at Mearns View for a few months and has settled in great, all residents and staff love her. Sarah is a newly qualified nurse who demonstrated excellent skills and knowledge. Sarah was previously in the Army training to be an avionics engineer. It was in the army that Sarah met her husband. Unfortunately, Sarah injured herself and had to rethink her career. Sarah started working as a care assistant in the community and began her nursing studies during the pandemic.

Linda's favourite about working as a care assistant is being able to provide exceptional care to the residents.

Javier, originally from Spain has worked as a care assistant for many years. Havier enjoys providing person-centred care to all residents. In his spare time, Javier plays the violin.


Javier has even played for our residents in the care home.

Nicola is a senior carer at Mearns View Care Home. Nicola, in one way or another has always been a carer, whether it’s at home with her children who have autism or in a professional capacity. Nicola loves her job because she can make a difference in people’s lives every day and can offer comfort to families. Nicola is a talkative, friendly, loving and respectful person who always aims to do her best in every situation thrown at her. In her spare time, Nicola enjoys reading fantasy adventure books and spending time with her family going on holidays abroad and up to the Scottish Highlands to hike.

Sophie has worked in care for 4 years, she has worked as a carer for a family member, and home care and has now settled in well to her role as care assistant at Mearns View. Sophie loves working in care as she finds it very rewarding to be able to care for the residents and also loves to build relationships with them and their families.
