Ideally situated near the vibrant town centre of Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, St Clare’s Court is a friendly, purpose-built care home offering residential and residential dementia care.

A luxurious home with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, St Clare’s Court offers high-quality and personalised care and support across two communities, Bluebell and Apple Tree.

Both communities benefit from luxury decoration and hotel-style facilities across their living areas, dining rooms and bedrooms, all of which are complete with a modern finish and are easily accessible by wheelchair. Residents can enjoy a selection of home-cooked and nutritious meals in the dining room, or a catch up in the comfortable seating areas by the cosy electric fireplace over a cup of tea and homemade cake.

Residents’ bedrooms are furnished to a high standard, and Residents are also invited to decorate their rooms with small items of furniture and treasured belongings to help make St Clare’s Court feel just like home.

Some rooms also benefit from direct access to the landscaped garden, and others offer picturesque views of the beautiful outdoor space. The stunning garden is a popular spot for Residents to catch up with friends and family in the sunshine, and many enjoy tending to the flowerbeds and relaxing while listening to the birds sing.

St Clare’s Court also offers a comprehensive activities programme for Residents to enjoy, including arts and crafts, baking, local sightseeing, and relaxing pamper sessions in the home’s on-site hairdressing salon. All activities are designed to help stimulate the mind, body and soul.

St Clare's Court is very lovely, pleasant and friendly. Staff are friendly. All staff go above and beyond for all residents. All resident's needs are all met in every way. There is always plenty to do for all the residents. The management is always on hand to always answer any problems/issues - the
office door is always open.

My mum has been in St Clare's Court for three months now. During this time, the staff have been amazing. It has been a difficult time for our family, and care and attention have been given at all times. Mum is now very settled. She leaves her room for all the activities that are arranged for the residents.
I would have no hesitation in recommending St Clare's Court to anyone who has a loved one who needs a fantastic care facility.

My husband is given all the care and help he needs at St Clare's Care Home. The staff are very good with everyone who lives there. Very caring, and most of all, happy and chatty and ready to cope with any and all the needs of the residents.

My father recently moved into St Clare's Court, and the whole family has been made to feel at home almost overnight. The care and support afforded to my father are second to none whilst he is treated with respect and dignity. The staff have been incredibly supportive and gentle during what has been
an anxious time for both my father and the rest of the family. Communication between St Clare's and the family is almost constant, although I don't live in the UK, I am as included as the rest of the family. Such a beautiful home from home.

So pleased we have our mam is this home. The staff are excellent, very attentive to Mam's needs. She seems very happy here and calls everyone her friends. To have your elderly parent in any home can be very distressing, but it's good to know she is in good hands.

Sadly, my amazing, wonderful mum, who suffers from advanced dementia, last summer took a nasty fall and fractured her left femur. Needing 24-hour care, she had to go into care. Following a second fracture femur and with all the trauma... fractures, no longer able to live in her home and needing 24-hour
care... Mum was in a terrible state. A decision was made, after much thought and discussion and research, to move Mum to St Clare's to be near myself, her youngest daughter. A huge decision. I felt so very anxious in case I’d made a wrong choice and put Mum through even more trauma with such a big move. But I had a gut feeling that it was the right thing to do for so many reasons. And how happy I am to have made the decision I did. Mum is cared for, safe, smiling and laughing again, eating well and seems settled and happy. Not scared or lonely anymore. St Clare's is everything I could have ever hoped for Mum. The staff genuinely care. They are kind, gentle and professional. An absolute blessing!

My mum has only been in St Clare's for a few weeks, having moved from her previous care home and hospital in Yorkshire. Mum has vascular dementia and has had a very upsetting and confusing few months prior to her move to St Clare's. The care and compassion Mum has received since moving to St Clare's
have been wonderful. She is now very happy, well looked after, settled and mostly extremely cheerful. My sister and I have also been fully supported and looked after by the management and whole team during the very difficult move from Yorkshire. So much thanks and gratitude to all.

After so long without being able to visit Mam, I can only praise St Claire’s at how professional and caring they have been while face to face visiting has been reinstated.
All staff wear full PPE, administer a lateral flow test with courtesy and request extensive information to allow, on a negative
test result, a visit indoors in a designated visitors room.
Thank you all for ensuring Mam is given the best care and attention.

Mum joined St Clare's as England was in and out of lockdowns. I have not been able to visit mum yet due to local and national covid restrictions. However, from day one, St Clare's have been fantastic. They arranged a video call in the first couple of days and have accommodated my zoom calls each week
ever since.
The staff are so kind and fill me in on mums progress. It's never a bother when I call for a chat.
Mum always looks great. It's a pleasure to see her looking like mum always did, hair done, her favourite skirts and twinsets and her lippy!
I know she's settled and cared for so well. Thanks to all.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

What does kindness mean to you?


“Kind care is willing to put the needs of others first.”


As a Health Care Professional, Sarah has gained many years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Sarah shares that HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Sarah remarked:


“The Residents, the people. Hearing laughter in the home and supporting Residents to fulfil hopes and dreams. Everything is possible with the right love and support behind you.”


Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her favourite people, going on holidays, listening to music and reading. Sarah’s biggest achievements are getting ‘Outstanding in Care’ CQC, making the final three for Care Home of the Year and winning Rising Star of the Year.

“For me, kind care is about doing good things that bring happiness to others. In my job, I demonstrate kindness by always having a gentle nature and having the desire to make a real difference to our Residents and their families.”


Having joined the kind care team at St Clare’s Court in 2017 as a Housekeeper, Katie has worked collaboratively with her Colleagues to provide the kindest possible care to Residents, while gaining a greater understanding of the care sector over the years.


After four years at St Clare’s Court, Katie was appointed as the Resident Liaison Officer, where she continues to provide kind care to Residents and their loved ones. In her role, Katie provides a warm welcome to all new Residents and Relatives to help them settle into St Clare’s Court, helping it feel like a true home-from-home.


Katie shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Katie remarked:


“I love getting to know all of our Residents as individuals, by understanding their likes and dislikes to ensure we deliver high quality, person-centered, and, most importantly, kind care.”


Katie’s greatest achievement is her children, who she and her husband enjoy spending quality family time with outside of work.
