Ideally situated near the vibrant town centre of Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, St Clare’s Court is a friendly, purpose-built care home offering residential and residential dementia care.

A luxurious home with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, St Clare’s Court offers high-quality and personalised care and support across two communities, Bluebell and Apple Tree.

Both communities benefit from luxury decoration and hotel-style facilities across their living areas, dining rooms and bedrooms, all of which are complete with a modern finish and are easily accessible by wheelchair. Residents can enjoy a selection of home-cooked and nutritious meals in the dining room, or a catch up in the comfortable seating areas by the cosy electric fireplace over a cup of tea and homemade cake.

Residents’ bedrooms are furnished to a high standard, and Residents are also invited to decorate their rooms with small items of furniture and treasured belongings to help make St Clare’s Court feel just like home.

Some rooms also benefit from direct access to the landscaped garden, and others offer picturesque views of the beautiful outdoor space. The stunning garden is a popular spot for Residents to catch up with friends and family in the sunshine, and many enjoy tending to the flowerbeds and relaxing while listening to the birds sing.

St Clare’s Court also offers a comprehensive activities programme for Residents to enjoy, including arts and crafts, baking, local sightseeing, and relaxing pamper sessions in the home’s on-site hairdressing salon. All activities are designed to help stimulate the mind, body and soul.

Every visit was perfect and the staff were always friendly and attentive. They are a credit to the company and went above and beyond my expectations.
I could not have asked for any better care during these sad and difficult times.

My dad moved into St Clare's in November 2019 and since then has been treated with the utmost kindness by all of the staff and has received excellent care to enable him to settle into his new home. From day one staff were able to cater for his dietary needs (gluten-free). The chef spoke to both my
dad and I regarding his food preferences and he has put on (much needed) weight since his admission. Sadly visiting is currently restricted due to the Coronavirus, however, we have been kept up to date regularly on my dad's health and antics and more recently we have been able to enjoy family video calls with him, much needed and greatly appreciated and reassuring!
Dad has dementia and the staff have encouraged and enabled him to join in lots of different activities, both in and out of the home and they look forward to his wee dog visiting as much as he does.
As a family, we are delighted with the excellent facilities in the home, how well Dad has settled in and we can see how well looked after and loved he is - thank you!

A first-class care home. Staff are very friendly and professional and always approachable. Feedback is given when requested and they look after residents like they were one of their own family members. All staff are very caring and compassionate. We are over the moon with dad's progress - he loves living

I am continually impressed with the understanding and care shown by all staff of my husband's complex condition. During his moments of anxiety he is shown kindness and reassurance by everyone.
St Clare's Court is an exceptionally well-run establishment, with very high standards. The manager runs a
'tight ship' and is approachable, efficient and proactive, from this relative's point of view.

Both of my parents moved up 200 miles to be near myself. The management team were a great help with the move. My parents are cared for very well. All of the staff are well trained, compassionate, caring and fully aware of all residents needs.
The only small criticism I have is due to how busy all the
staff are and I found it very difficult to find a manager to ask questions.
That said I cannot recommend highly enough the care and high standards this home offers.

Welcoming, very high standards of cleanliness. Staff were exceptional, going out of their way to assist in any way possible. Through the transition of putting mam into St Clare's, was hard enough, but the staff helped Mam and us to get through and make this move as smooth as possible. Mam has been made to feel great through all of this which is our priority and there's. You're all fabulous St Clare's.

My dad had moved to St Claires Court Care Home from another home. The process was made extremely stress free and it has been the best decision ever made. My dad has settled really well and in his words "it's about time he lived in a bit of luxury". The staff are approachable to listen to any issues
and act in a timely manner. I feel my dad couldn't be in better hands and his overall health has improved dramatically. It is the type of home you would dream of having family members live.

I cannot praise the staff at St Clare's court highly enough.
Right at the start of my mother's respite care, they even helped me to unpack her things from the car. The facilities, care, food, drink and activities are first rate and I feel confident that my mother is being looked after at the highest
standards. I have been welcomed into the home and all staff are attentive to my needs for my mother and very professional but approachable at all times.

My sister in law took residence at St Clare's Home in February 2018 and was welcomed by a very caring staff. I have observed over time that she has enjoyed very good care which has made a great difference to her wellbeing both physically and mentally. Our requests to both management and staff have been
listened to with concern and diligence. Her home here is like a smart little hotel and she is very happy in residence. Thank you so much.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

What does kindness mean to you?


“Kind care is willing to put the needs of others first.”


As a Health Care Professional, Sarah has gained many years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Sarah shares that HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Sarah remarked:


“The Residents, the people. Hearing laughter in the home and supporting Residents to fulfil hopes and dreams. Everything is possible with the right love and support behind you.”


Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her favourite people, going on holidays, listening to music and reading. Sarah’s biggest achievements are getting ‘Outstanding in Care’ CQC, making the final three for Care Home of the Year and winning Rising Star of the Year.

“For me, kind care is about doing good things that bring happiness to others. In my job, I demonstrate kindness by always having a gentle nature and having the desire to make a real difference to our Residents and their families.”


Having joined the kind care team at St Clare’s Court in 2017 as a Housekeeper, Katie has worked collaboratively with her Colleagues to provide the kindest possible care to Residents, while gaining a greater understanding of the care sector over the years.


After four years at St Clare’s Court, Katie was appointed as the Resident Liaison Officer, where she continues to provide kind care to Residents and their loved ones. In her role, Katie provides a warm welcome to all new Residents and Relatives to help them settle into St Clare’s Court, helping it feel like a true home-from-home.


Katie shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Katie remarked:


“I love getting to know all of our Residents as individuals, by understanding their likes and dislikes to ensure we deliver high quality, person-centered, and, most importantly, kind care.”


Katie’s greatest achievement is her children, who she and her husband enjoy spending quality family time with outside of work.
