This time last year, I remember how much myself and family were concerned about being requested to move my husband to a new care home due to him requiring more nursing care. During two years in care, he had lost the ability to communicate with speech and could no longer feed or drink for himself. We
were very concerned about how he would cope with this change.
On viewing Oakhill Mansions prior to his move there, we were impressed with the overall view; the room allocated was perfect, and the staff seemed very friendly. Our concerns about this change were very high.
20th January 2023, the move was made, and within 24 hours, my fears were elevated. The staff went above and beyond to find out about his wants and needs and what sort of man my husband is.
A year on, I look back at his journey, and it couldn't have been more perfect!
The nursing care has been brilliant; they could see he was sleeping more than he should, so they took action to reduce and eventually stop altogether one of his medications, and the change in him is amazing - he is so much more alert and active. I cannot praise all the staff enough!

Lovely helpful staff.
Excellent bedroom. Very airy and warm. I love that I can go home and know he's being looked after well.

Oakhill Mansions is an amazing place the staff are caring-loving-understanding and they become family. My dad has passed away now but in his last years, he was living with them and were his family too. He had the best care any family could want for their loved ones. 150% and more their give. Loving
caring family home we go back for visits and have just been in to see them all for Christmas.

You were also there for us as a family when things were getting harder - such a high standard of care; you

I had to find a care home for my mother, who has been diagnosed with vascular dementia. I came across Oakhill Mansions in Westbury on Trym. Upon the very first visit, I made to have a look around, and I was made to feel welcome. The home was clean, the staff were friendly, caring and professional, and
the residents seemed happy. My mother moved in soon after. I can honestly say that I could not have wished for anywhere nicer for my mother to go. She is so well looked after, and the staff are amazing.

Just wanted to thank you so much for the care my terminally ill mother-in-law received in the last week of her life. She was only with you for such a short period of time, but in those seven days, we witnessed such a high standard of care. All the staff were so professional but also approachable and
friendly. They were so attentive to her and so supportive of us as a family as we stayed to give her round-the-clock company, and nothing was too much trouble - endless cups of tea and warm blankets!
Thank you for making such a sad and difficult time more bearable. We only wish she could have been with you for longer, but it was not to be.

My mother who died in October at age 101 was happy here and looked after by very caring and attentive members of staff. The rooms were modern and comfortable. It is in a pleasant area and visiting and parking is no problem. When Mum died I had just lost my wife very suddenly. I live a long way away
from the Bristol area and things like registration of death and getting forms to the undertaker would have been too much for me. The manager of the home stepped right in and arranged all these things for me. He ensured I got Mum's rings and the required certificates by special delivery. At a time of great sorrow for me he helped more than he will ever know.

My Mother spent approximately 8 months at Oakhill Mansions and in that time I have never had any cause for concern whether visiting either on the spur of the moment or pre-organised, her dignity was maintained at all times, staff were patient, polite and always on hand to feedback from questions or
queries I may have had.
Her room was always clean, her laundry done and she looked presentable when it was clear this was beyond her own control.
Towards her end of life, her medical care was first-rate as it had been throughout her stay and I was always kept up to date without even having to ask.
All you could want for your loved one is here, a beautifully kept building with kind, thoughtful and above all genuinely caring staff.

Carers and helpers are very friendly and cooperative. Talked to a member of staff in detail about my mother and he was excellent.
Also, the CEO was very approachable and understanding. I had an excellent meeting with him concerning my mother's care and the financial commitments needs.
Overall, a very
good team and a friendly working atmosphere.

Oakhill Mansions accepted Mum 3 months ago when no other decent care home would due to her severe Alzheimer’s, mobility, double incontinence and challenging behaviour. Mum has been kindly well-cared for, seems happy and has settled in well and we feel she is in good, safe hands. She was hospitalised
after only one week in her previous care home as they couldn’t cope with her so we are very very grateful to Oakhill.

My uncle was a resident at Oakhill Mansions, Bristol, for eighteen months. I am very glad that he spent the last part of his life cared for there. Every member of staff I encountered - the manager, nurses, carers, activities staff, admin staff, cleaners - are dedicated, caring, compassionate and totally
professional. Every member of staff knows their job and carries it out not only professionally, but with good humour. I feel that I did absolutely the right thing in placing my uncle into 24-hour care and I feel fortunate to have chosen Oakhill Mansions to give him that care.
My uncle passed away very peacefully and I am so grateful to the nursing staff and carers who looked after him so well at the end of his life.

Dad was admitted to Oakhill Mansions in September 21 on a pathway 3 bed then as a permanent resident, the care he received until he passed was exceptional with complete open communication from all staff with a high standard of professional care, nothing was ever too much for the staff looking after
him. When the home went into covid lockdown my family were allowed to visit Dad anytime as he was at end of life, to be able to visit him in the last few weeks of his life enabled us to prepare for the inevitable and make the process that little bit easier. The care and compassion from the staff after he passed continued and as a family, we are so very grateful for everything Oakhill did for Dad.

Oakhill Mansions have been caring for my Dad since September 2019 and we have been very grateful for the care, support and professionalism of the staff. They are responsive to his needs, keep us continuously informed and he is happy in their care. We feel the staff know and understand him very well,
and that they genuinely care about him and enjoy spending time with him. We feel that he is extremely safe in their care, despite the pandemic.

My mother spent the last few months of her life at Oakhill Mansions before passing away in November. She required a very high level of nursing input, and we were so relieved that she received excellent care during her time there. The staff was so kind, helpful and hardworking, and my mother formed a
wonderful bond with them all. As a family who visited Mum very often, we could see how comfortable and peaceful she was, despite her deteriorating health, and all staff were doing their best. We as a family were treated with respect and in a very supportive manner at a time when we really needed it. Mum also received great help from the local GP practice attached to Oakhill. A big thank you to you all for making the last few very challenging months more bearable for Mum, and us as a family.

My mother has dementia and has been cared for at Oakhill Mansions for over one year now. Previously, she has been cared for at other nursing homes but failed to settle. I am very happy to see her so settled at Oakhill Mansions, where she can make her wishes known in her native language too. I am very
grateful to the staff speaking her native language but also to those who cannot. Some of the staff, to my great surprise, even learned the basics, so that they can communicate directly with her. Overall, I found all the staff to be very caring and helpful. My mother happily smiles when returning from her weekend visits home and meets the staff on duty welcoming her back. Oakhill Mansions offers a lovely ambience for living, greatly enhanced by the professionalism and kindness of its entire staff.

I have been at Oakhill Mansions for 5 months. I am receiving "end of life" care as I have terminal cancer. When I came here, I was anxious and worried about the treatment I would receive and how I would cope. In a very short time, all the people here made me feel comfortable and welcome. The care I
receive is 1st class and I feel I am part of a "family" that put my welfare and best interests before anything else. All my relatives and friends remark on how well I am looked after. I would recommend Oakhill Mansions to anyone who needs nursing care.
