Park View is a care home, passionate about providing a range of 24-hour care services for older people.

Set over four floors, the home offers residential, dementia, and palliative care. Respite and convalescence care is also available. Situated on the top floor of the home are 17 Close Care Plus Apartments, aimed at residents who are still quite independent but have the option of support if required.

All bedrooms have an en-suite wet room with shower facilities, equipped with WiFi, telephone points, and digital and satellite television. Residents are encouraged to bring belongings to personalise their rooms.

The home offers a range of facilities including a coffee shop, a hair salon and a library, cinema room, as well as various activities and events. Mealtimes are very important and residents can eat delicious, freshly prepared and nutritious food at Park View Gloucester.

My father had respite care. My horror when I collected him has still not diminished. He was dishevelled wearing clothes not belonging to him, 4 days beard growth, numerous items of clothing missing. His shaver was broken as was his electric toothbrush. I left a letter of complaint including the above
and: Failure to change hearing aid batteries leaving him deaf, the newspapers he wanted were not provided but still charged, incontinence pads I provided not used a carer was “frustrated” by him wetting the bed, no moisturiser used to help protect from ulcers, “Care not always given with good grace”, he was not taken to any activities despite me asking them to do this, because of his dementia he did not understand “Kingsholm” was in the home, not ready to leave at 10.30 still being in his PJ’s. They are not compliant with their complaints procedure I am sharing my experience to warn others. My father was not treated with respect, dignity and wasn’t provided with the care promised and paid for.

Since my nan has been living at Park View she has deteriorated in her health and her dementia has got worse but the staff try their very best to keep her calm and happy as possible.
Nan is cared for very well and couldn't ask for any more from all staff and management.

Caring and responsive! My mum has been on the 1st floor for just over 12 months and the staff couldn’t have worked harder to ensure she settled in. Not surprisingly, her health has deteriorated over the year - I have been reassured though that the staff have not ignored these changes in her needs and
ensured she received the proper treatment and care. A recent concerning incident was handled with the utmost care and professionalism - I can’t thank them enough for their help and support.


Flexible visiting hours. Friendly and welcoming staff. Bright rooms. Approachable and open to feedback and new ideas.

My parents recently spent just over 2 weeks in Park View Gloucester while I was away on holiday. They both have memory problems and my father needed help as he is physically struggling with mobility. However, their experience at Park View was very positive. These are their comments "Everyone was very
helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was good and it didn't feel like a nursing home. The atmosphere was good as were the facilities". They had everything you could ask for ( mum loved the big bath). The staff were cheerful and pleasant also accommodating and ready for a laugh. We wouldn't hesitate to give Park View a recommendation to others and would be very happy to go back there at some stage

My Husband and I have been resident here since the 'home' opened in 2016. Since then things have changed quite a bit. Staffing has gone down quite a lot, fewer carers, and at night only about two carers for the whole home.
Food - the content of some meals is not very good.
The carers are mostly very
caring.

We assess staffing levels weekly (and sometimes daily) in order to ensure we have the right number of staff and skill mix to meet our residents' needs. Currently, there are at least 8 staff in the home at night time - perhaps now would be a good time to re-open the discussion on moving your loved one to an area within the home where staffing levels are higher than on the residential floor. I have also passed your comments to our chef who will visit you to discuss how we can improve your personal menu offering.

I cannot find the words to express how grateful we are to the staff at Park View. Without their compassion and care, the last month of my father-in-law's life would have been very different. Nothing was too much trouble to them they listened and reacted with love and support not just for dad but also

On entering the building it's very clean and you are always greeted by very pleasant reception staff.
The security aspect of the building is very good but not overpowering.
There is a varied and very good weekly menu of food and drink.
But if nothing is suitable other options are always available
on request.
As regular named friends, we are greeted by the carers on the relevant floor with details of eating, health and mood which is very helpful.
The activities seem very good but our friend does not use them.
Overall it appears well run and a pretty good and safe place to be.

Since my 97-year-old mother's arrival in Park View Gloucester in December 2016, she has received very good care. The staff are uniformly kind and considerate and understanding of her desire to be as independent (within her limitations) for as long as possible. My mother enjoys the company of other residents
and appreciates the good healthy food. The management, staff and auxiliary workers are enthusiastic and committed to providing a safe and caring environment. I have no hesitation in recommending Park View Gloucester.

My mother spent the last 5 1/2 months of her life at Park View. All members of staff did their best to make sure my mother's stay was comfortable and caring. The chef did her best to encourage my mother to eat and bent over backwards to make anything she wanted. Staff were very kind and like to have

I think Park View Gloucester could be the best care home in Gloucester after having visited a few. The coffee shop provides a meeting place for residents which helps them to make new friends and socialise. It's a very happy place.

Mum has settled in well and seems to be enjoying herself. She is aggressive on the odd occasion but soon allows herself to be jollied along and when we leave she soon forgets that she was upset.
All the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for us, even putting on a meal for us on mothers day.

Park View has only been opened about 6 months and a few things are not yet quite fully in place but are moving in the right direction. Mum has been in one of the apartments for 4 months now and is generally quite happy and settled considering she has left her home of 70 years. The management team will
always find the time to talk with you if you have any questions or just want to talk. Regular residents/family meetings are organised, attended by management, catering and housekeeping, for everyone to air their views or to ask questions. There are activities laid on most days and walks around the local area, not all attended by Mum, but she does enjoy the ones that take her fancy. We have found all the staff very friendly and helpful and extremely happy with the care and attention Mum receives. The building is well laid out with plenty of open space and a choice of communal areas, all being decorated and furnished to a high standard.
Take a look, not as expensive as you may think.

This is a lovely care home and the majority of the staff are excellent.
Sometimes there is a lack of activities but only on rare occasions.
The food is excellent and anything we ask for e.g if we want to eat with my mum at short notice it's no problem and if my mum asks for certain food it's never
too much trouble.
I would and have highly recommended Parkview to friends and family.

I visit Park View as do some of my family on a weekly basis.
Park View is a warm and friendly care home.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and my friend seems very happy living there.
I look forward to going every week and joining in activities.

Park View care home bears no relation to the regular reports I read about other care homes over the past four years in the national press. As my wife and I have grown older (we are now in our 80's), we have grown fearful should either of us have to move into a care home. Park View is a breath of fresh
air and on arrival, it seemed too good to be true and I am more than satisfied with everything I have experienced here every day as I visit my wife. Despite her reservations about care homes generally, her advancing years make is necessary to have residential care as she has unfortunately succumbed to two incurable brain diseases. The staff are very caring and attentive and despite some of the residents having some very challenging habits, the staff deal with every incident calmly and efficiently. I particularly enjoy being able to have my lunch every day with my wife which is a facility which not every care home can offer.

Charlotte Potter

Before working in care, my career spanned diverse industry sectors providing management, accounting, administrative and technical services. Now a registered manager with CQC for older people’s services, I first worked in care as commercial manager for Learning Disability Services some 13 years ago. I then found my passion and career ‘home’ when I took a role as care manager in a home for older people. Since then I have managed residential and nursing homes for older people living with and without dementia and love the different challenges that every day brings. I believe that supporting our staff is key to enabling our residents to live fulfilled and happy lives, and my passion is creating a home that becomes a community where families and friends are welcomed – a place people call ‘home’, that feels like ‘home’.


My Fondest Memory is of my father (not known for showing his emotions, and now sadly passed) greeting me at age 19 after some months away from home, by picking me up and swinging me around saying how he had missed me. It took me back to being a little girl when he used to swing me and my sisters around and we would wait in turn to be swung again.

I am a customer-focussed Contract and Facilities Manager with a keen interest in the customer experience, either through designing physical environments and experiences, or by driving service and policy change to support a positive experience for all users.
I have experience in supporting the managements of a variety of different public-facing services, either directly through my own and admin support mechanisms, or via the facilities management function. Over time I have worked with a wide range of customers, staff, and stakeholders from all walks of life, all ages and abilities.
I am skilled negotiator and communicator; someone who is patient, compassionate, and takes time to understand people and their behaviours to determine requirements and approaches. I believe that maintaining positive internal and external relationships is key to a productive work environment, and that seeking out community and professional partnerships is essential to inform best practice and keep up to date, share resources and raise the profile of the business.


My Fondest Memory is of spending a week making flowers with paper plates and egg boxes and tissue paper so we could totally fill my grandmother’s (known as Dang) house full of flowers for her return from holiday on Mother’s day. Her face was a picture

Craig Sullivan

Job Title: Senior Team Lead

I started my professional carer working in the home improvement industry, working originally in admin the moving into a sales role and leading two sales teams. After personal circumstances I decided to change my carer path to which I became passionate about the development of my team to provide a high quality standard of individually tailored care for each person that I co-support.


I worked with people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours for seven years, four as a senior team leader where I oversaw individual care on a 1:1 basis. I wanted to expand my knowledge on other sectors of care ranging from dementia to nursing. Since arriving at Parkview in July 2019 I have gained knowledge and support to allow me to progress with confidence to my current position.


My Fondest Memory was of my grandad. He was known as ‘Banky’ from where somebody couldn’t pronounce his name properly. We would always visit him on a Saturday at noon and he would always sit in his chair where he would watch grandstand or watching the horse racing on channel 4. He loved sitting in that chair watching sport drinking his tea.

Hi my name is Emily hiam and I have worked at park view for a year and a half, I started working a care setting in 2016 in a small care home.


I then came to park view and felt like I fitted in straight away, I really enjoy being a part of the residents lives! And them a part of mine. I love working with my team and all the staff.


My Fondest Memory I have is of my great grand parents, and going to see them every Sunday playing games and picking apples from the apple tree.

Lisa Jones

Job Title: Catering Manager

Joined: 2016

Trained at Cheltenham Catering College straight from leaving school in 1982. Worked in a variety of silver service restaurants and Hotels. I then progressed my career to contract catering working in the kitchen sections (Pastry, Mains etc). I was then offered a trainee Catering Manager position with the contract catering company and cooked for the executive dining rooms and workforce, as well as the staff restaurant.


Following this I went to a joint position as a Management couple for Beefeater Restaurants. A career move was made to Unilever foods as a Catering Manager for the next 18 years, catering for executive dining rooms, special functions and over one thousand employees to feed daily. I moved on from this to start my own business as a food hygiene trainer (still am) and although I enjoyed this , I soon missed the Cooking and serving. My passion for cookery helped me make the decision to come and work at Park View when it was offered.


I have worked at Park View for 4 years and have not looked back. I enjoy using my culinary skills to bring exciting new nutritional meals to our Residents.


My Fondest Memory Sitting at my Nan’s kitchen table waiting for her special Toffee Mallow Rice Krispy cakes, made with her own homemade toffee and marshmallows.

I’m Lucy Wellbeing lead. For the last six years I have held two Wellbeing roles, previously working in Stroud. I moved into care from customer service roles after supporting a close friend as she died of cancer and I promised her I would get a job where I made a difference. I watched Park View being built and was delighted to get the position here. I absolutely love my job and feel it is a real priveledge to be working here at Parkview. My teacher always told me off for talking in class and said I wouldn’t get a job just by the ability to chat.. how wrong she was. I have a passion for making peoples day and making people smile.


I live locally in Tredworth with my two beautiful girls and my husband.


My Fondest Memory…


I only had my grandmother growing up as child. My mum’s parents had died before I was born and my dad’s dad died when I was too young to know him. I remember going to my grandmas house and sitting and chatting to her for hours. She always listened to me and I made her laugh. She always bought us bottles of coke but could never do the lid up properly I got very used to flat coke !

I left school and went straight into the army for 10 years and travelled the world which really opened my eyes. Since leaving the army I have learnt a number of trades but over the last 20 years have been working on buildings learning each different aspect. I enjoy the variety of working at Parkview because no two days are the same. I have 5 children and 11 grandchildren and lots of grey hair!


Fondest Memory, I remember going to my grandparents in the prefabs making dens with deckchairs in their flowery garden. I became known for eating the flowers.

I have worked in Care for many years working in different care homes and the hospital. I have worked at Park View since 2016 and started as a carer before being promoted up to Senior Carer but then I made the decision to move over into Housekeeping for our Apartments because it gives me a different perspective of caring for the residents and it gives me a great sense of satisfaction to know all the residents on my floor have a beautiful and clean environment to live in.


Fondest memory – my Nan had her snuff in her pocket and always cooked the best roast dinner – she always used to tell me, “Don’t forget to spray your ha’penny”
