The staff at Pine Martin looked after my mum after she left hospital with a serious combination of Alzheimer's, Diabetes and a UTI. Despite being severely incapacitated, Mum was treated with excellent care, compassion, kindness and professionalism by all the staff - whether it was the managers, care
staff, restaurant staff, kitchen staff, laundry etc and the rest of the family were also treated with great kindness and respect. It gave us all much comfort to think this last year of her life she was in a lovely room overlooking the garden, quiet and peaceful with calm and gentle care.
During the time of Mum's illness, my Dad was also taken ill and we decided he would become a resident to make it easier for him to visit mum. The staff could not have made this easier and despite losing his language initially, with excellent caring support he was able to return home and live independently after a few months. I recommend Pine Martin very highly indeed and remain ever grateful to the team.

I came here following major surgery for two weeks prior to returning home to resume caring for my sick wife. This rest was certainly helped. I have been helped and supported fully. The surroundings have been excellent similarly to the staff and the organisation.

Cannot praise the care love and attention Dad is getting at Pine Martin. We had to move him there end of last year when his dementia progressed. We were very nervous about the move but he settled in quickly and happily. The room is always clean and his clothes laundered very well. He is kept busy and
enjoys the activities and days out. The food is excellent. We are always made very welcome.

Although my wife was only resident for four days. The care she received throughout was outstanding in every way.
The night staff were particularly caring and helpful as my wife's life drew to a close.
We are very grateful to all the staff at Pine Martin Grange who were both cheerful and professional
at all times.

I think your service to residents and their friends/family is fantastic.
I was always made to feel very welcome by your staff and the care of my friend was excellent.
Thank you.
Beautiful, well organised and well planned care in a spacious, modern setting. Outside space well used and attention to
detail, including listening to residents and really going the extra mile to make them feel heard.

I was resident at Pine Martin Grange for a week and was treated with the utmost courtesy, respect and friendliness by all the staff. The food was excellent and plentiful. Tea and coffee were available at any time. My room on the ground floor was well furnished and very comfortable. The en-suite was
well equipped. The outside area was well planted and the lounge and library rooms were comfortable. I did not take part in any activities though my wife would have preferred me to, I was content in my lovely room.

We first came across Pine Martin Grange in July when my father suddenly became unwell and was admitted to hospital. We needed somewhere quickly and local for a period of respite care. Pine Martin Grange was our first choice and very quickly became our only choice as they were so willing to help us during
a very stressful period. My father moved in and eventually stayed for 6 weeks as a temporary resident. The home was brilliant, yes there were teething problems as my father settled in, but then his whole world had been turned upside down. None of his children live locally and so when we do visit it is often for a few days and lots of meals - again the home staff have made us very welcome, and are keen to make sure that our needs and those of our father are met.

Following the period of respite, our father then volunteered to become permanent, and during our frequent phone calls continues to praise the team and the environment.

Every new business has initial teething problems and Pine Martin Grange was no exception, in fact,at one time, I questioned whether I had made a proper decision relating to the care and welfare of my mother.
However, in the last two to three months under new leadership and a group of committed heads
of department, things have turned round to such an extent that the CQC review was really very good.
I now have every confidence, going forward, that my mother's care is in the safe hands of a group of vocationally driven, caring professionals.

I have found this care home to be excellent on all levels. The friendly welcoming staff go out of their way to provide a genuinely caring atmosphere; nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. My mother, who is partially sighted and deaf, recently celebrated her 102nd birthday there and the home
organised lunch for the family and a tea party for all the residents. Four generations of our family attended the party and my mother didn’t want the day to end.

This care home is in a different league to all the others I visited over a wide area. Whilst the fees are not cheap the value is exceptional. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

I would like to thank all the staff for continuing to make my mother’s stay so happy.

Wonderful, new, care home where all the staff made my Husband, family and friends very welcome even the dog! Catering department has some 'hiccups', which were resolved, but the management teams input was valuable in resolving those staffing issues. Quality of food and drinks was very good.

During the last 10 years we had looked at many care homes with my mother but never found what she needed or was prepared to accept. As her needs changed we knew we had to find a home closer to us and near the sea with high standards of care. Finally at 94years old with mobility, eyesight and hearing
difficulties mum agreed to move and from our point of view it was an enormous relief - 24-hour care, warm and safe, all on 1 level (no hated stairlifts!) plus some of her own pictures and furniture.
The level of care is wonderful and although we are only 15 minutes away the staff deal with everything so we can have quality time with mum, walking in the garden or visiting the beautiful countryside. PMG arrange many activities including visits to garden centres, cookery and gardening and much more plus events to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Easter, St Patrick’s day and so on....or residents can simply relax in the sitting rooms, library or their own room. There is even a gym and a cinema.

A beautiful care home in lovely grounds. Spacious rooms with access to a garden/patio area direct from the room. Rooms have modern wet room en-suites and are beautifully decorated. There are bathrooms with hoists, library, free bar, cinema room, gym and a private dining room for special occasions. Guests/friends
can join residents for lunch etc with a choice of menu (always delicious) and drinks, free for all. There are free hairdressing and manicure/beauty treatments for residents, GP service and free chauffeur service. Lots of community activities with local residents/friends/children having regular activities within the home. Staff are very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The ratio of staff to residents is excellent, well above other care home levels. There is a very caring attitude and residents are encouraged to enjoy life. This home is run on an all-inclusive or home from home approach. It is quite like a five-star hotel yet feels like you are at home. My Dad loves it there.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.635)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.635) out of 10 for Pine Martin Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.566 for Pine Martin Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.566

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.069 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pine Martin Grange Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.469

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have worked in healthcare for the last 10 years, initially starting at a GP practice as a part-time receptionist when my children were very small. Prior to this, I had a career in events management and sales. The practice trained me in HCA work and phlebotomy, and I progressed to holding blood clinics and assisting with minor operations. When I decided to return to work full time as my children got older, I gravitated toward residential care – I had hugely enjoyed working with my elderly patients in my phlebotomy clinic and wanted to continue in a role where I had this contact. I worked for a provider initially as a Home Services Advisor, progressing to a regional role. I then made the transition into Care Home Management 4 years ago and haven’t looked back. I have managed both nursing and residential homes in Dorset, most recently commissioning a brand new service. I am delighted to join the Dormy Care team and be part of a team that puts the daily experience and ongoing quality of life of our ladies and gentlemen at the heart of all it does. I have a BSc (Hons) in Management and an NVQ Level 5 in Operations Management. Outside of work I am a Mum of 2 boys, a keen swimmer and a yoga practitioner.
