I visited Richard House for the first time very recently to see my cousin. My first impression on arriving was "WOW", what a stunning building. It gives an initial impression of grandeur and refinery, very pleasing to look at and very calming in its design and layout. Once inside the standard of the
building and its contents is a very high specification and has been designed to give a very warming and welcoming feel. The staff is very cheerful and polite and takes great pleasure in welcoming you to the home. I noticed straight away that it is a very lively and active environment, with residents and their respective families openly engaging with other residents in varied activities, along with the members of staff. My cousins room is very nice and relaxing, and has been adapted to suit his personal needs and wishes, just like being at home. This home is a very lovely place and has everything you could or would need to have a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The experience from start to present has been top-class! We have been listened to from day one and feel very comfortable coming to visit here with our family. It feels like home - come in, make a brew just like we would at home. I have a handful of favourites here that we feel like they really understand
our view, as family. But more importantly, our loved one is cared for, not just as the resident but as a friend.

Home is lovely, staff are very friendly and polite. You can tell that staff truly care and nothing is too much for them. As soon as I arrived, staff offered me a selection of drinks, as I sat spending time with my friend. The home truly has everything you could wish for - a cinema, bar, games room.
I cannot recommend this place enough.

Since day 1, the care home has been incredibly supportive, friendly and helpful to my mum's needs. She was recently in another care home and there is not comparison. The staff (all staff) go above and beyond to give my mum confidence and a purpose to fulfil her many hopeful years to come. I would defiantly
recommend this care home to all needs, whether respite or recovery needs.

The home is really good for Mum. The home is very welcoming for family pets into the home for pet therapy. The staff are very caring for Mum to make sure that she has everything that she needs. I know that I don't need to worry about the care that she is getting as it is of a very high standard.

Mum came to Richard House for respite, having been reluctant to go into a care home - now she absolutely loves being here and if we go out, always wants to make sure she is returning there. We have found that the care is excellent. The staff and management are very caring and welcoming and it seems
like one happy family. We as a family are happy in the knowledge that Mum is safe and happy. What more could we ask for?

How fantastic the team at Richard House have been. From the day she arrived to the day she left, each and every one of you have been absolute stars! It's hard for me to find words to express what I have seen and how I feel, but here are a few. Kind, considerate, supportive, acting like you are mum's
friends not paid staff, loving, caring, compassionate, professional and the list could go on and on and on.


I can honestly say that the one thing I have not had to worry about, is mum whilst she has been with you. Many of you have touched my heart with the things you have done and some of the calls with mum and you lot in the background have been hysterical.


Please understand that if I or the family lived closer, I would not move her from Richards House in a million years. So, with all my heart "thank you" and I can say that if mum comes up that way to visit family, the first place I will be booking is Richards House

We moved my mother into Richard House in August 2022 to be cared for as her needs became beyond our capabilities at home. I cannot praise the management and staff enough for the prompt admission and subsequent high level of care administered as my mother's health failed over the ensuing weeks. Towards
the end of mum's life, it was comforting for us and her to know that a member of staff was with her night and day when we were unable to be with her.

My mum was only in Richard House Care Home for just over a fortnight but I was very pleased with the help and care provided. All of the staff and management were helpful and obliging and made my mum feel very welcome. The home is beautifully furnished but, more importantly, all of the staff seemed really
nice and treated the residents with dignity and respect. I was pleased that my mum was in such a caring environment where she made friends with other residents and quickly established positive relationships with the staff.

Following a period of ill health, and a nasty fall, my family and her Community Care Nurse felt that a period of respite care would enable my mother to recover more quickly. She is approaching her 99th birthday and is very independent and so took some persuading that this was the right thing to do.
We were delighted that Richard House was able to offer her a place. The home opened at the beginning of April and has been built to a very high standard. The management and staff have been outstanding both in terms of the quality of her care and the welcome they gave to mum and the family. She was able to return home after a week of being very well looked after and much stronger than when she arrived. We would have no hesitation in recommending Richard House to anyone looking for exceptional care.

The Care Manager and her team are first class and they have the well being of their residents at the forefront of everything that they do. Mum is fiercely independent and moved into Richard House four weeks ago suffering from dementia and in search of somewhere that she could live and hopefully learn
to call home. The Tanglewood staff have taken the time and learned all about mum and developed a well thought out care plan that is specifically tailored to both her personality and her condition. The family are so impressed with both the standard of the home, which is first class in terms of its layout and interior design and the professionalism of the care team. We have spent significant time looking around the area at all the care offerings that are available. We do feel that we have found a care home where mum will now be able to call ‘home’ and where she can enjoy the next chapter of her life. If you are looking for premium care for your loved one please have a look around.

Hailing from a small Caribbean Island, unknown to most- The Commonwealth of Dominica, hail a daughter of the soil with a passion for caring. A family woman who invests her time in her work life, balanced with quality family time with her two children. Jackie as she is known to her friends, Julie to her colleagues is a friendly individual who thrives on ensuring her residents/patients, relatives, and all those who access our doors leave with an experience that they will forever remember and return in due course. The feeling of a warm and family-like structure should envelope all those in our care. Making meaningful improvements in the lives of our residents by providing the highest qualitative and quantitative care, through a workforce eager to deliver and maintain the standard set out by the company is at the forefront of what we do. Julie believes in leading from the front whilst we develop the body of knowledge which our staff share with one another. Julie believes that respect should be given at all times and that all staff will be knowledgeable about all our residents.


Julie was trained in the Caribbean but continued to build on her body of knowledge when she relocated to England to take on the role or Registered nurse at Grace Manor Nursing Home. Although new to the role in a changing environment, Julie was eager to learn and understand the new equipment used in this part of the world. The tenure was short-lived as her hospital life kept calling. After a year Julie's move to join the private sector hospital saw her move her young family to Lincolnshire where she worked her way from Registered nurse to Head of Clinical Services (Matron). Julie remained with this company for 16 years and the saying family comes first saw her make a move back into the care home in order that she may support her son. Working with a varied number of staff, residents and relatives, building meaningful relationships. Julie has trained as a recovery nurse and trained in the management of the Deteriorating patient level 3.


Julie previously assisted in training nurses and health professionals in various areas- ILS, AIMs, Venipuncture, Cannulation, and Safeguarding levels 1,11 and 111. Now is the right time to take on this challenge with Tanglewood and Richard House putting into practice what I have learnt and developing my skills whilst devoting herself to her team ensuring that our resident live their lives to the fullest through positive interaction and safe delivery of care.


Julie’s favourite quote remains “Who Jah bless no man Curse” My favourite scripture remains If God is for me who can be against me”. In Julie’s spare time, she enjoys the outside. Walking to clear her thoughts, a good book to keep her going and Julie loves singing and dancing.
