Richmond Aston-on-Trent care home is nestled in the heart of the retirement village, with a range of state-of-the-art facilities not usually found in a care home.

Facilities and services include a Wellness Spa with a heated accessible swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, spa treatment rooms, hair and nail salon as well as a restaurant, café-bar, library, activities room, various lounges and terrace areas. The village is surrounded by spacious landscaped gardens which are wheelchair accessible and a sensory garden, specially designed for those living with dementia.

The 61-bed care home provides nursing and residential dementia care in a beautifully present environment. All rooms are tastefully decorated by a team of specialist interior designers and feature an electric profiling bed, en-suite shower room, a range of furniture, TV & telephone points and Wi-Fi access. Many enjoy views of the surrounding gardens and games lawn.

Residents are supported to live a healthy and happy life in the very best environment with a dedicated and highly skilled care team. The care team are supported by the Richmond Aston-on-Trent hospitality team, who provide nutritious meals, while the activities team provide a range of social and recreational activities carefully designed to meet everyone's needs.

Respite breaks are available for two weeks or more. If you are a carer looking for a rest yourself but don’t want to be too far away from your loved one. It is possible to book these stays in advance. Convalescence care is available. They also offer independent living apartments and assisted living apartments.

My sister is in the dementia unit, which is extremely well run, with exceptionally caring staff. It is clean, bright and welcoming. As I do not live nearby I am unable to visit regularly, but know that she is in a very good place, where she is happy, loved and well looked after. I have also found
all the other staff at Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent approachable, friendly and helpful.

The carers are caring, patient and kind, as are all the other staff. The home is clean, warm and welcoming. My mum is very happy here, joining in with all activities and making friends with other residents. The food and facilities are first-class. This gives me peace of mind that she is being well looked

Our experience in the care home has been excellent. We enjoyed all the facilities and activities. The carers always were very attentive and friendly. The rooms were well appointed and they were kept very clean and tidy. We enjoyed the food and we will highly recommend the quality of the care home.

My mum moved to Richmond Villages in 2018 as a resident and latterly, receiving nursing care. Mum was extremely happy, always felt cared for and enjoyed mixing in with activities on offer. The home's attention to detail and safety throughout Covid has been exemplary. The care provided to Mum in the
last weeks of her life was exceptional, she was treated with compassion, dignity and kindness. Alongside this, as relatives, we were allowed the flexibility to visit and stay over as we needed to.

My husband spent 2 weeks of respite care. He has multiple problems because of Parkinson's and prostate cancer. The care he received from all of the staff was excellent and he was quite happy to be there.

Excellent welcome and introduction to the options available which seem flexible and adapt to need. Unfortunately, dad's admission became more of a crisis. The staff coped well with initial unsettled behaviours and made dad feel welcome. Very attentive and encouraging him to join in, which he is surprisingly
enjoying. Looking good that he will see this as a long term solution. The flexible catering service is definitely a plus and should be continued.

Richmond Aston-on-Trent is a lovely, warm, welcoming and caring community. My uncle was treated wonderfully by all staff for the two years he was in residence. They provided him with the utmost care and attention; in the best possible way with dignity and respect.
The facilities are excellent, cleanliness
was a priority, the food and beverage quality and choice is that of a top-class restaurant. Continuos choice of snacks and drinks throughout every day; was much appreciated by my uncle. He could not have received better care and support.

On my admission to Richmond, I was incapable of assessing my condition etc around me and was reliant on my family to assist with financial matters. On starting to get interested in these matters the cost seems to be expensive but I have not made a fair financial comparison with others as yet but I am

It is encouraging to see the changes being effected by the new care manager.
In the past 12 months, matters have slipped because of the rapid turn over of senior staff.
I am very hopeful that the new regimen will bring continuity to the care provided and provide the highest level of care that the
residents pay for and deserve.
I know the CQC is keeping a weather eye on them and feel confident, from what I have seen recently, that the Unit is well on the road to being the 5* facility we want.

My Mother has been in the care home on Dovedale since April 2019. The facilities are excellent and there are usually activities going on. The care is generally good although we have experienced some concerns regarding illness, medication and the need to be seen by the doctor. The management of Richmond
Village overall is very good and professional.

My mother spent the last nine weeks of her life at Richmond Village and we couldn't have chosen a more caring surrounding for her.
All the staff showed the appropriate balance of patience, compassion, understanding and humour, which I know our mother appreciated, right through from the caring and nursing
side to the restaurant and catering staff.
The whole environment had a friendly feel to it and although the circumstances why my mother had to spend her remaining days there were sad I know she felt she was in the best place.

My mum suffered a fall in September last year. In hospital she had various, serious complications - to such an extent we feared for her. On recommendation, we placed her at the care home. She enjoyed it so much, and made such progress, that we looked to purchase, firstly a suite and then, as she continued
to improve, an independent apartment. She has now improved in a large part thanks to the marvellous care, support and humanity of all the staff to such an extent that she can live in her own home!

My husband had had a very traumatic experience in hospital and the care home manager acted very swiftly and efficiently to bring him to the home for respite and rehabilitation. The care staff, nursing staff and catering staff have been, without exception, wonderfully caring, kind, patient and professional.
They
have made him comfortable and are encouraging him to get better so he can come home.

The home is very nice, well decorated and furnished. The staff are helpful and the atmosphere is very good.
My mother had two issues, she repeatedly asked for toilet rolls and eventually got some and the soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken when we arrived and wasn’t fixed when she left two weeks
later. She had to ask for a small pump soap bottle.
But very nice and facilities were great and food and drink were great quality and variety.

My stay in Richmond Aston-on-Trent was to convalesce after a spinal operation. I would certainly recommend the home. I was well cared for, particularly by the nurses and care assistants. All of the staff were extremely helpful, very cheerful. My only criticism is that the GP prescribed me a cream for
a skin condition on Wed Jan 9th and it still had not arrived by the time I left on Jan 20th but this was not the fault of Richmond Village as the nurses enquired on a daily basis.

I have worked at Richmond for nearly 7 years, I joined Richmond as a domiciliary care assistant and then moved to a senior domiciliary care assistant before taking on the domiciliary care manager role nearly 3 years ago. Before joining Richmond I worked as a domiciliary carer in the local community for 7 years.
I enjoy working at Richmond as you get to build strong relationships with the people you look after and you get to them before needing care as you see them around the village. This really helps as you ae able to notice when people start to decline and are able to support them to make a person centred care plan around their needs and wishes.
I manage a team of carers that provide care to people that live in independent and assisted living apartments. The care calls are booked in advance at their time preference and for how long they wish the care call to be. We can support people with personal care, dressing, medication administrating, cleaning, support to activities and to the restaurant. We are also able to offer companionship calls, shopping calls and assistance to doctors and hospital appointments etc
Before I worked in adult care I worked in child care where I started as a nursery nurse and worked my way up to be a manager of a 120 placed nursery.
I have always enjoyed caring for people and helping them get the best out of their lives.

With over 27 years of experience as a chef, I have had the privilege of working in diverse catering environments, ranging from café-style dining to à la carte cuisine. My journey in the culinary world began in the hotel and restaurant sector, where I honed my skills for many years. A decade ago, I ventured into the care sector and discovered a new passion. I started as a part-time chef in a care home, where I developed a keen interest in the science of nutrition and the importance of providing high-quality meals tailored to individual dietary needs. Collaborating closely with speech and language therapists, as well as dietitians from the NHS, I became well-versed in this critical aspect of care. Over the years, I worked my way up to the position of Development Chef for a major care company. I am now excited to embark on this new journey with Richmond Villages.
