Situated on the outskirts of historic Cambridge, The Cambridgeshire Care Home is an attractive modern, purpose-built care home, providing residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for up to 72 elderly people. Close to local transport and amenities, they are just four miles away from Cambridge.

The Cambridgeshire Care Home is situated within attractive landscaped gardens, built with a large glass frontage which provides fantastic views of the gardens. As well as a comprehensive activities programme, offering a variety of meaningful activities, residents at The Cambridgeshire Care Home have a cinema which shows Residents favourite films, a nail salon, hairdressing salon, visiting Chiropody service, an Exercise Therapist and private dining facilities along with a bistro near the reception area offering coffees, teas, pastries and fresh fruit, lunch and afternoon tea (must be booked in advance).

The Cambridgeshire Care Home also offers residents a choice of lounges where they can chat, relax and take in the beautiful landscaped gardens, as well as enjoy an aperitif before dining whilst choosing from the fine dining menus.

I came to The Cambridgeshire Care Home for respite care after an operation to remove my gall bladder. I am 81 years old and live independently. I thought the building, garden and room outstanding. The staff were excellent and professional. The food was really good and well thought out.
However, I
did not get any sleep for the first few nights due to a male resident ranting and raving, shouting and yelling all night. This is not respite care and is unacceptable.
I also observed that some residents were left in an anxious state due to staff not responding to the bell call. Perhaps due to a shortage of staff but this is a basic requirement for all.

This recently new built care home was what attracted our family to choose this venue for a two-week respite for our 92 year old mother. But, unfortunately, the overall service and attention to detail did not live up to our expectations, and was poor value for money at £1,750 per week. The contract,
terms and conditions etc arrived for our approval the day prior to admission. We were incorrectly advised regarding laundry tags, resulting in confusion and lost garments. Initially no phone in her room, then we were advised twice the wrong number. On visiting, her room had not been cleaned or towels changed. Television in room was not user-friendly for a person with dementia. The care home charges £250 per day, my mothers stay was from Sunday lunchtime to Saturday week lunchtime, i.e., 13 nights, but was charged 14 days!

From Nurses to Carers, hospitality, cleaners, admin, reception and activity coordinators the staff are very friendly and supportive.


I found only one other home in Cambs that would manage chemical sensitivities. When I asked about their cleaning products Cambridgeshire Care Home told me they had

vulnerable residents so, just as in hospitals, used no strong chemicals. Most care homes spray air fresheners to hide smells with no thought to the effect on those living there but not Cambridgeshire Care Home.


The food was good and the hospitality went out of their way to help the day start well.


My en-suite bathroom and the large electric bath and shower communal bathrooms were luxurious. The premises generally were very clean and beautiful. I would recommend bringing cotton bed linen as those supplied were very uncomfortable.


I had a stunning view of the garden so I was able to enjoy looking at the wildlife, birds and squirrels.


Mine was a temporary visit but this is the one I would choose if I had to.

The staff in this home are excellent, polite and caring. The food (after hospital!) is good and tasty my appetite recovered rapidly. I am certain my stay there speeded up my recovery. The facilities here are first class as is the accommodation.

My mother entered The Cambridgeshire Care Home when it opened in 2016 and died there almost exactly two years later.


Mentally alert but frail, she settled happily, thanks to the exceptionally kind staff and strikingly good facilities. She loved walking in the garden and entertaining us in the Bistro.

We used the private dining room for lunch with family or friends several times: very good food for us and a secure setting for her.


Staff were responsive when we had minor concerns, and treated her with just the right mixture of dignity, respect and good humour. They accompanied her to hospital and the dentist when we could not.


For six weeks we knew she had not long to live. Staff gave us frank information compassionately. On the day she died, they arranged for six of us to have a private room and lunch, and we were genuinely moved by the extent of her carers’ own sense of loss.


We feel very pleased that she was in such a good place in her final phase of life – and grateful for all the care she received.

Following a hip replacement, I received very good care and support by friendly staff, some of whom went out of their way to be helpful.


I was impressed by the use made of limited outdoor space to provide paths and seating everywhere possible with pleasant planting.


Please could the lovely pictures

on the walls have labels? I don't know the colleges well enough.

My Mother was extremely unwell in January this year and we all thought she would be unable to survive the situation she was in. However, due to the excellent, considerate and dedicated care she received from the carers, nurses, doctor and management, who were involved and responsible for her well being,
Mum was nursed back to health. Although Mum now requires nursing care for her personal needs, she achieved what we never thought was going to happen and reached her 100th Birthday in June.


For Mum’s 100th Birthday celebration the hospitality staff and the chefs provided a fantastic buffet party for 14 members of family and friends. Mum still talks about this being such a lovely day, with wonderful food, just perfect.


Thank you to everyone at The Cambridgeshire for the kindness, care and consideration you show to my Mother. Without you all, we would not have had our special memories of Mum’s happiness on her 100th Birthday.

My mother moved to TCCH at the age of 92 with a terminal condition. The trauma of moving from a family home after 70 plus years was almost worse for my mother than her disease. However, all the staff handled the transition with great sensitivity and understanding.
Although my mother died 10 weeks after
her admission, we could not have been happier with the quality of care provided by the staff who showed superb levels of expertise, professionalism and empathy.
Equally, the level of family support was really appreciated. The quality of the facilities and catering services was also faultless.

I visited my old family friend at the Cambridgeshire Care Home whilst she stayed for two weeks respite. She was clearly being very well looked after and was enjoying being fussed over. Her room was lovely, overlooking the garden with its own balcony. We had lunch and a glass of wine together in the
bistro which was excellent and then, as it was such a nice day, we stayed for tea and scones in the garden. I hope she goes back again soon so we can also return.

This home is a very pleasant place to live. The staff are plentiful, friendly and caring. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable, all built around a lovely garden for the residents to enjoy. There are interesting and varied activities and plenty of room and refreshments for visitors. The home
is not beyond making the odd mistake but I think it is as near perfect as it can get.

My father came to live in the care home last May. Right from the start, he was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and residents. His room is lovely, overlooking the very large and well-kept gardens.
There is a great program of activities each day which has really benefited my dad. When he
was at home he was getting really isolated. He has a new lease of life, it's great to see him so happy. He really enjoys his food it smells great. Presentation always looks good and it's really tasty. The sweet trolley is just like being at a hotel. Any problems that do come up are dealt with quickly. The care is very person-centred. The staff pick up very quickly if my dad is ill and let me know. I can sleep well at night now as I know he is in safe hands.

All the staff at the care home behaved with unconditional love and care for my father. The last 14 months of his wonderful life were enhanced because of this care which he deserved. It was beyond expectations and made us all feel highly valued. Being partially sighted Dad was vulnerable but he felt
in good hands and trusted his caregivers. The staff knew his favourite foods and his disabilities were embraced with care ensuring he had all he needed and more. Exemplary care and love was given at all times with a smile. Thank you very much.

My father passed away last night after spending the last 6 months at the Cambridgeshire Care Home. I cannot praise the home and staff highly enough. He loved staying there and made great friends with both staff and residents.
His room was extremely well furnished and comfortable with a great view
over the beautiful gardens. The facilities were excellent with a high standard of food which he thoroughly enjoyed and a wide range of activities on offer.
The staff were extremely caring, professional and friendly and took time to talk to him on a regular basis. They also went out of their way to make our family feel welcome whenever we visited and were very sensitive to the situation when he passed away. Having visited many care homes before choosing this one I can honestly say it is exceptional and would recommend it to anyone who needs a caring environment for themselves or loved ones. Many thanks to all the staff for making my fathers last few months so enjoyable.

This home is special, nursing was needed after a stay in hospital. Have chronic back pain plus osteoarthritis, I am unable to walk unassisted. All the staff are considerate, willing to help in any way they can. I have been treated with care and respect talking through any problems. I have seen the home
manager who is a qualified nurse and encouraged to raise any problems. The care staff some are quite young but well trained. Visitors can visit the bistro, have a drink with cake or a biscuit or fruit. Several of their friends now from hospitality, nursing care. Thank you to all.

I recently needed to find a really good care home which supplied respite for my 91-year-old Mum who also had some palliative care needs such as very regular pain relief and other medication. Having spent many years working as a community-based nurse, I was always going to be really fussy in looking
for the best patient care, staff who treated residents with absolute respect and kindness as well as an environment where my Mum felt comfortable and happy. I was so delighted with the attention to detail offered within the home. Excellent nursing care and a group of staff who all appear to truly enjoy what they do and genuinely care about the residents. Mum came home after a week saying how lovely everyone had been to her during the stay and I feel very confident about using the home again.

I am proud to say I commissioned The Cambridgeshire Care Home in 2016 and was the manager until 2019, having worked at First Care Homes since 2011. I returned in 2022.


I have worked in the social care sector as a registered manager in a home and regional capacity for over 25 years since leaving the NHS where I was a ward sister.


I am a Registered Nurse and have a Degree in Gerontological Nursing, the Registered Managers Award and also Level 5 in management and leadership.


I love this home and want the staff to feel the same, as this then impacts our resident's experience and helps them feel at home right from day one

I am an experienced Registered Nurse with over 14 years of experience in both private and public healthcare environments. I have a Bachelor’s in psychology and a Master’s degree in Palliative Care strategies and management.


Following my move to the UK in 2016 I achieved my NVQ level 5 certification. I found my true passion in caring for others, especially elderly Residents and Patients and I am very grateful to have found the perfect environment to practice this at The Cambridgeshire Care Home.

I have a background in administration and customer service having been a buyer, salesperson, account manager, office manager and CEO in a variety of industries from Fire, Domiciliary Eyecare, Medical, Insurance and Charity. I started at The Cambridgeshire Care Home just as the COVID lockdown started.


I enjoy working with new Residents and Families to take them on a seamless journey into their new homes. I am a very caring and passionate person and really enjoy working with older people.

I was born in Ramsey, Huntingdonshire and moved to St Ive's. I am the youngest of 6 children.


When I was younger, I wanted to be in the Police force, I passed the entrance exam, but they weren't recruiting so I went to Tesco, and carried out various roles until I became a Senior Manager, Trouble Shooter and led the Training and Development for five Stores.


I went on to become a bookkeeper and an Office Manager at Premier Electric then to Storage King in Cambridge for seven years and eventually seconded to the Bedford store for five years as Store Manager.


And here I am now at The Cambridgeshire Care Home as the Home Administrator.


I enjoy a number of hobbies, I like squash, am a very good roller skater, skier, horse rider and enjoy riding motorbikes.

I have many years of experience in the hospitality industry from Hotels, colleges and running our own pub/restaurant.
