Having visited a number of care homes in the area, the first impression of the Hawthorns Aldridge Care Home stood out. Our first thoughts have been fully confirmed during this period. We had major concerns about our father entering into care but all of our fears have been removed by the excellence of
the staff at every level. Our father is happy and therefore we are very happy.

Dad has been in the Hawthorns Aldridge since November 2022 and the care he has received has been excellent. He's in for 3 months to help him recover from a medical issue and he feels well looked after, has joined in with lots of activities, enjoys the company and is very settled.

After the initial few days, I settled down very quickly. Very caring atmosphere and very helpful, pleasant staff. Enjoyed the activities on after too. Just the place to recuperate and be looked after.

My mum has dementia, she has been at the Hawthornes Aldridge for approximately four months, following a two week respite visit.
My mom settled in so well that Mom became a permanent resident.
All I can say is that every member of staff are caring, so professional and provide everything to my moms
needs. As her daughter, I was so reassured that Mom is happy and safe. I highly recommend the Hawthornes.

The staff are warm and helpful and friendly make you feel very safe to leave your loved ones with them. They all look after my mum so well. She feels very happy. I know Mum is only at Hawthorns Aldridge for a long rest but I'm sure she would like to stay there all the time. She loves mixing with the

I am very disappointed following my Uncles death on 9th November 2022 that no one has contacted me. Not even about the funeral. So review may get a response. There are questions I wanted to ask. Like why was he not accompanied to the hospital at nearly 94, when I was told he was only grunting. When
my brother got to A&E he was in a terrible state. He died of a water infection. Box with a change of catheter, when getting hospital bag. Should this have been changed earlier? Asked re a refund of fees told there would be a charge for redecoration and it would be discussed. He moved in Covid times, the room was not redecorated for his move. New resident in room at least 2 weeks. No contact from management re credit, now 3rd December. Fees going up £95 a week from Jan. £210 a week in 14 months. Very disappointed with the final care and no aftercare service after 3 years here.

The team loved caring for and getting to know your Uncle during his time with us; he was a true gentleman and is sincerely missed. We are sorry that you feel we did not meet your expectations when you visited us after your Uncle's passing, leaving you cause to leave a negative review.


Your Uncle had full mental capacity and was clear in his wishes that he remained independent, managing his finances and care needs with little support. Unfortunately, as a residential care home, we are not equipped to provide care for managing catheters and therefore rely on support from medical professionals and district nurses. When he left our care, we sent him with a new catheter set in case this needed to be changed quickly on admission into the hospital.


The Hawthorns Aldridge Care Home team continue to strive to provide the very best care and support to the elderly residents that reside with us, and our thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

The care home is a joke, wouldn't put my dog here! Cover up the truth, just after your money. My father has a life again after leaving this place. He was sat in the same place next to the toilet every day, no motivation, no care. Even now after we moved him they never told his medication suppliers he
had left.

We work alongside Adult Social Care, Safeguarding, the Local authorities and the individual's family to make this move as smooth as possible, as was the case with your father. I'm saddened to hear that you feel the way you do, especially as we exhausted all options before finally having to accept that your dad needed to be somewhere were his needs could be better met. We were all incredibly fond of your dad and hope he's settled into his new home. The hawthorns is a lovely care home environment - happy, light, spacious, clean and modern. My mum's room overlooks the garden has a kitchen - an added bonus as this helps her maintain some independent living. There are lots of activities/trips out that she can get involved in and the staff who run
this are excellent. A great choice of food - the dining room is one of Mum's favourite places. However, the management and support staff have on occasion, failed to return our telephone calls which has been frustrating and Mum is at a high risk of a fall and the staff haven't always ensured she has her walking frame.

On a lighter note, your mum has settled into the home well and her smile is infectious. Mom has been receiving respite care at Hawthorns Aldridge Care Home for the last few weeks. From the moment we arrived the staff have been so kind and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Mom has a lovely, clean room with everything she needs. There are attractive gardens, communal areas and a dining
room. Each week activities are organised and residents are encouraged to attend. Mom is being well cared for and that is very reassuring for her family.

On 4th July 2022, I will be a resident at Hawthorns for 5 years. My experience has been mixed. Becoming a care home meant that standards dropped considerably. Now I see improvements as they are being raised again, especially in the dining room. This is my home, where I am very happy and feel safe and
secure. Care for me is available if and when I should need it. There have been many managers during my stay here and it is wonderful to have one who has stayed longer than others. Her door is open to all staff and residents. At our resident meetings, she keeps us up to date with audits, staff turnover, cost of food etc. I thank God for bringing me here.

My nan moved into the home on 13.6.22. The first week I was concerned about her personal hygiene. There seemed to be a breakdown of communication of my Nans needs. Although I spoke with management on 22.6.22 who said it will be dealt with and so it has been.

My home, and I have been here for five years now, is brighter and clean and there are no unpleasant smells. I am well cared for particularly after a serious fall when the carers insisted on overseeing my personal toilette.
The staff are kind, understanding and always ready to help and they are approachable
too with a sense of humour. Sometimes the food is appetising but at least it's always served hot. The chef listens to our requests. We can talk to the staff or team leaders about our complaints.
