Located around the lakes in South Cerney, The Lakes Care Centre which opened in 2017 offers compassionate, individualised residential, dementia, respite and daycare for up to 64 residents in friendly and comfortable households.

Residents have a homely, comfortable living environment within four households, each with access to two living rooms, two quiet sitting room areas and a kitchen dining area.

Bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms with some offering lake and garden views.

A friendly, professionally trained team are on hand around the clock to give residents the support needed. Residents at The Lakes Care Centre are able to lead a fulfilling and independent lifestyle with the team on hand to support at all times.

The Lakes Care Centre offers a range of daily social activities including:

    Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

Overall a very positive experience. The ethos and staff approach is very respectful, helpful and caring. The standards of cleanliness are very high and the staff, in general, are professional and well trained. My father is not easy to care for but everyone does what they can to make his experience as
comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I think staff training and communication can be improved.

The Lakes has a relaxed and homely atmosphere, enhanced by the very kind and caring staff at all levels.
I have enjoyed my two-week stay very much and my care was superb. I hope to return soon.

Mum has been a resident here since October 2017.
A difficult transition from fierce independence to care was handled sensitively and wisely and I felt cared for too.
Mum is intensely private and won't join in or come out of her room other than for appointments in town with me. She happily chats to
teams in her room, they completely respect that and their care of her (and my observed care of others) is exemplary.

The home is beautiful and full of light. The care staff are fantastic. The main area which could be improved is family to management communication. Our experience over the last four months has not been great.

The Lakes is my mum’s home now and although she’s not fussed about the ageing process she’s found the security, friendship and happiness there - and that means her family have found the same. I always feel welcome whatever time I arrive; staff are professional, approachable and supportive.

My mother has been a resident for ten months. During that time, I have seen the care provided develop well.
The management appears to be developing a good standard of care, given the challenge of the care sector, especially recruitment and retention of carers.
My mother is happy there and well satisfied

We have found the Lakes an excellent place since my father-in-law has been here. The interior is lovely and calming and inviting. Staff have been very caring and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The high tea birthday celebration was wonderful and an excellent idea. Father-in-law appears
very happy here and well looked after. I would highly recommend The Lakes to everyone looking at and considering this type of establishment.

My Mum spent a week in The Lakes for respite. The centre is a lovely environment, very well laid out, equipped and furnished. The staff are very welcoming, pleasant and caring and, importantly, have time to chat to the residents. It is lovely that residents can walk in the gardens freely, with places
to sit. I will have no hesitation in her returning for future respite care. The management were pleased to receive feedback and had already responded to a couple of more minor issues.

Since my husband went into The Lakes in March, so far we have experienced exceptional care for him, plus help and assistance to myself in coming to terms with our change in circumstances.
The staff/carers show considerable care and dedication and treat him with extreme dignity.
He has a varied diet,
all well prepared and freshly cooked. Relatives are able to help themselves to teas/coffee.
The home is very pleasant, the rooms are well laid out with all facilities on hand.

My grandmother has been really happy in this care home. It was her first experience of being in a care centre which she was a little apprehensive about. However, all the staff were really welcoming and reassuring which has really made her time in the centre an enjoyable one.

Fiona

Fiona Boxall

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Joined: 2024

Fiona has been Deputy Manager at The Lakes Care Centre since February 2024. Prior to this, Fiona spent time nearly 5 years working as a Bursar at another OSJCT care home, Millbrook Lodge, in Brockworth.


“No two days are ever the same at The Lakes. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to interact with our wonderful residents and their families” Fiona said.


When asked what her favourite memory was from her time at The Lakes, Fiona reflected on one of these many opportunities she had to interact with a resident and their loved one.


“The Lakes were taking part in a baking competition, and I was lucky enough to transport one of our keen baking residents and his family to the grand finale in Bath. This resident was from a farming background, and it was an absolute pleasure to see the look on his face as we drove around the countryside and told tales of his farming days.”


In her spare time away from The Lakes, Fiona enjoys travelling, trips to the movies and theatre, as well as spending as much time with her loving family as possible.
