Trymview Hall is a lovely care home, with a beautiful garden for everyone to enjoy which is well-kept and has friendly entertaining chickens. The rooms are well appointed/equipped and lovely aspects whichever floor you are on. The staff are very friendly and tuned into the needs of each individual resident.
Nothing is too much trouble and there are plenty of activities for those who wish to join in. The food is really good with a couple of options on a menu that changes daily and if a resident doesn't fancy anything on the menu they will rustle up something else for them. Mum particularly enjoys the fortnightly church service and loves joining in any of the singing activities and arts. It is also pleasant for visitors who are encouraged to join in, although there is a separate area available to residents and their guests with tea/coffee and a variety of snacks/cakes. There is also a hairdresser and cinema on site. Me and my mum are really happy with our choice.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful. I couldn't have chosen a better care home for my Mum, the facilities are amazing and the variety of activities for the residents are exceptional. The care and understanding the staff provide for Mum and support for me when I need it is brilliant, nothing
is too much trouble.

I’ve been here for just over a year, so I’ve seen the home through all of the seasons. I came here initially because I couldn’t manage my 3-storey house any more. At first, it all seemed quite strange but soon I realised that I had gained more independence through not having to do any chores. Cooking,
cleaning, care, facilities are all very good. rganised activities are very good too, and one can opt in or out as one pleases. One of the best things for me has been how easy it is to chat with the staff (carers and management) and how approachable they are if I have any problems. I hadn’t expected my offer to help in the garden to be so warmly welcomed and now, with the addition of colourful flowers, herbs, veg and chickens, it’s a delightful place to walk and meet other residents, one’s friends etc.
All in all, it was the right decision for me to come here and I know that, as my illness progresses, I will continue to be cared for.

My mum needed respite care after she broke her leg and couldn’t cope at home on her own so we came to Trymview Hall for a visit, her first impression was it’s warm clean and beautifully decorated just like a hotel, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and understanding. Mum enjoys having her meals
in the dining room with others and has already formed friendships. She looks forward to all the activities which I feel are very important for her well being and keeps her mind active. I can see that my mum is very happy living here and that she now feels this could be her home.

We recently needed to find a place that could help support my dad and offer more care then we were able to at home. I found Trymview Hall Care Home and couldn't ask for more from a care facility. They made sure Dad was engaged in activities, kept safe and the staff are truly fantastic. He has been able
to keep his independence while being well looked after which is what we were looking for. The facility is lovely and clean, along with a great location. He always tells me how much he loves the food and friendly staff. What is a really tough time for us as a family, we can at least know he is happy, safe, and being well looked after at Trymview Hall. Would recommend.

My elderly grandmother went into Trymview Hall to provide some respite care. Having such a great home provided reassurance that she was well cared for during her time with them and some important breathing space for my mother to recuperate from the stress of being the main carer. It is good to know
they are there for us.

The building is superb. Excellent design. From my first enquiry, (the manager took me around the property) to the staff busy with lunch for the residents, giving me food and drink when I was packing up my husband's belongings at the end of his fortnight's respite. Everyone was friendly, courteous and
efficient. They knew the residents individually and were caring and encouraging. Thank you all.

Our aunt has been in Trymview Hall for a few months now and we have been very impressed with the care she is getting. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are also very friendly and helpful towards visitors and we have been made to feel very welcome. We were even able to enjoy a family lunch together
in the home to celebrate our aunt's birthday which was very much appreciated. The home is well managed, very clean and well equipped. Many thanks to all staff.

Both Mum and Dad have been in Trymview Hall over the last 6 months. Mum was on the dementia floor and Dad on the general floor. They both ended their lives there and I could not think of a better place they could have been for their last few months. The individual care is professional and excellent.
All the staff were patient (Mum's dementia meant she could be quite tricky at times) and overwhelmingly kind. They really do care. Okay, on some occasions clothing got mixed up but from my experience this happens in many care homes and hospitals. The standard of the care easily outweighs this. We received plenty of communication about our parents' health, activities and Covid protocols. We were encouraged to call or visit whenever we wished, this was particularly helpful as my brother and I do not live locally. The care and support did not stop with our parents - for two days we stayed in Dad's room while he was failing. We were looked after with consideration and kindness.

Mum was very comfortable during her stay and especially enjoyed the food - quality and presentation. Thank you for looking after her and making her transition from hospital to home, after her knee replacement, more manageable. I have just returned from a three-week stay at Trymview Hall. I initially had only booked for two weeks but found that I had benefitted so much that I stayed an extra week. There was such a nice atmosphere at the home, with the staff so helpful, considerate and encouraging. The food was absolutely delicious
and beautifully served so I felt I could have been at a five-star hotel. I would most certainly be only too glad to repeat my stay and thoroughly recommend it. I am already singing its praises locally.

As published by the CQC. Trymview Hall has been rated 'Good'. The inspection by two inspectors from CQC was done on the 9th September 2021. Trymview Hall opened on 20th November 2019, CQC has put off rating this care home because of safeguarding, whistleblowers concerns raised since opening. You can
read all the information on the CQC website. As advised by an inspector, a rating can be removed just as quickly as it was given! Because of our concerns and poor care we were in the process of removing our mother. Sadly, she died before this could happen. Mum always ended up with another resident's clothes, we would visit and she had someone else's jumpers, cardigans on. On clearing out her room we found someone else's coat! My mother was on the dementia floor. Most of the staff were not dementia trained. You cannot open a care home for dementia and not have the appropriate staff to deal with residents who had this awful disease. I would definitely not recommend this care home to anyone.

My father was there for six weeks of respite care recently. The care seemed to be reasonable at first apart from losing a lot of his clothes.
However I was unable to visit for eleven days and during that time, the care went seriously downhill. He became dehydrated and also lost three kilos.
Then they
said he had Covid - he didn't. I was not allowed to see him.
They actually told me he had to stay there and isolate. They removed his phone from him so that nobody could contact him.
I had to get the police involved to reinstate his phone and a stern solicitor's letter threatening legal action in order to get him released.
When I got him home, he did not pass urine for 48 hours because he was severely dehydrated.
He is still recovering.
Please do not be fooled by the fancy hair salon and the nice bathroom with stars in the ceiling as I was, nor the coffee shop or lounge.
He was never allowed a bath, nor did he get to use the lounge or coffee shop.
Trymview Hall is all about money.

I would like to assure you we have looked into your concerns around laundry and we are pleased to say that the pair of socks that was lost are being returned to you. Regarding bathing, we did offer a bath or shower to your loved one every day and on the days he did accept, he always did have a bath or shower. Trymview Hall came to our rescue when we urgently needed to find respite care for my Mother in Law. The Customer Relations Manager was extremely helpful and has continued to communicate well with us. It was not an easy move, as Mother was very resistant to move out of her home and she still has not
settled well, even after 10 weeks. The staff have all been very patient with her and hopefully, we’re slowly making progress. Trymview Hall is a very clean, well-equipped home with a beautiful garden which residents are encouraged to make use of.

From the initial call to Trymview Hall the customer relations manager (CRM) has been most helpful, professional and communicative regarding the services and facilities offered for the respite for my Mother at the care home. This is the first time we have used a care home to support my Mother who has
early-stage dementia so we have been very anxious about her first visit. The CRM has put our minds at rest and talked us through the process so that we have peace of mind our mother will be looked after and cared for.

Mum has been in Trymview for a few months now, and our father is now also a resident. We were very pleased with Mum's care, especially during a difficult time with Covid, and we didn't hesitate to place Dad at the same home when a space became available. The staff are very friendly, and nothing is too
much trouble. Booking visits is very simple, and I haven't been disappointed once when booking a day and time that suits me. Having experienced a different home (that my father was in), I can honestly say that Trymview is run more professionally, and I would thoroughly recommend it. The weekly updates telling relatives what activities are on offer is a lovely touch.

My mother-in-law was in the care of the staff at Trymview Hall for 10-months after suffering multiple strokes. The care she received during that time was exceptional, especially as she suffered hallucinations at the beginning of her stay and was in the advanced stages of Vascular Dementia. She could
only eat pureed food in the beginning. This was presented in an appetising way. When staff became aware of certain food she liked, they would provide these. Staff always kept us informed about her well-being. We also had Zoom meetings with her during the lockdown. When staff knew she liked painting, they ensured she had access to such materials. Staff also helped her to walk a few steps regularly. They pampered her, spent time talking and listening to her. She even called one member of staff 'her daughter'. When she died, staff who had cared for her came in early before their shift to spend time with her and us, to say their goodbyes. I could write more, but what's important was that she was treated with dignity, it was a home from home. The best decision we made was putting her into Trymview.

I’m an experienced nurse and care Home Manager and I joined Care UK in early 2019.


I used to work in one of the organisation’s Edinburgh care homes. Care UK’s values and ethos of care chimed with my own personal approach to care, so I was keen to join this forward-thinking organisation.


Being an effective home manager demands a range of skills, from great people skills to good organisational ability. It’s vital to have a holistic and proactive approach as well. Far and away the best part of my day is spending time with residents and seeing them enjoying a superb quality of life.


I’m passionate about delivering excellent care and I love working as part of our committed and skilled team here at Trymview Hall.
