The care home have responded to my uncle's needs and ensured that family recommendations have been noted.
During the restrictions on access due to COVID-19, including the cessation of resident family meetings, it has been difficult to receive updates on my uncle's health and well being. In particular,
it has been difficult to talk to nursing staff. It has also been notable that a number of carers have not read my uncle's care plan, which has been acknowledged by the management of the care home.
My uncle has always appeared to be well cared for when we have seen him on limited occasions. Unfortunately, the current visiting times are too short to establish meaningful conversations and as a consequence, it is clear that his mental health has deteriorated.
The care home management have acknowledged my concerns and have ensured that the facilities coordinators are spending more time with him.
I am discussing different options with the manager of the care home in order to improve access.

The process for admitting my mother to Trymview Hall was very easy and professionally handled by the staff at all times. My mother settled in very quickly, and although I personally have not been able to visit her, my brothers have and advised me that all is well, she is well cared for and fairly happy.
Every interaction with the staff has been positive, and the facilities appear to be very good, especially the availability of video calling, such a bonus when the resident has dementia. The small number of residents ensures individual care, and they truly take their responsibilities seriously even providing birthday celebrations when required. I would have no qualms whatsoever in recommending Trymview Hall to potential residents.

Prior to mum’s admission, she was visited by 2 members of staff to ascertain both her needs and preferences. Mum and I were very reassured and the subsequent move was a seamless and happy one. Lockdown followed a couple of days later and I was concerned that mum might feel a bit lonely as she didn’t
know anyone. Far from it! She is most content. She is enjoying excellent food and as a result, is now maintaining a healthy body weight. The staff are both efficient and kind: nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is first class and mum is enjoying a variety of new activities even though some have been stopped due to the virus. As a family, we are very happy to be a part of Trymview Hall and are kept informed of any developments. I would highly recommend it.

In looking for a Care Home for my friend with fairly demanding physical needs, I only visited one - Trymview Hall. I was present at the opening of this lovely place before that and was not disappointed. I can only write positive things about it and would give a special mention to the staff member whom
I met first, who is just right in her job. Her welcoming and reassuring manner are exactly what are needed when people are facing a huge life-changing decision for themselves or their loved ones. The care goes beyond the residents to families and friends, which is especially important when people are at their most vulnerable and in need of reassurance. I always recommend Trymview to those I meet and shall continue to do so. I may never need residential care myself, but should I be in the position of having to look for it, I would have Trymview at the top of my list.

My mother moved into Trymview Hall at the end of January 2020. Firstly, I was impressed by the advice and assistance given by staff before the move. When you walk into the reception you feel as if you are walking into a 5-star hotel. The newly built home is tastefully furnished with spacious en suite bedrooms and wide corridors. There is a lovely garden to be explored when the weather improves.
A home depends on the quality of its staff and it
is clear that all the staff really care for their residents. They take time to get to know them and make them feel comfortable and at home.
I feel fortunate that the home opened just at the right time for us. The next step on her journey, the transition from hospital to her new home was very sensitively handled, making a difficult decision easier for her.
I really appreciate the friendly high standard of care that she is receiving.

From the first, initial inquiry to the settling in, our friend had a very good experience. The admin staff were friendly and professional in showing us around and took time to listen and assess our friend's needs prior to her arrival, when she was greeted with warmth and genuine interest. Introducing
the 'therapy cat' was a great hit and instantly made our friend happy.

My mother moved to Trymview Hall in the opening week and the care and support have been excellent. The carers have provided reassurance and patience for my mother who is living with dementia. All the staff are very attentive, from the activities lady who makes Mum feel at ease and included, to the
chef that comes to talk to the residents at mealtimes to the cleaning staff that always greet you with a smile. The other residents have also been very friendly and it is great for Mum to have company and conversations with others in the same boat. Hopefully, as the weather improves it would be good to see some trips out, which I understand are being planned. I feel Mum is in safe hands, and I know I can pop in anytime to visit, which has been great.

This is a brand new home with superb facilities. My mum has only been there for a short while, but the care and attention that she is receiving is extremely good. Her level of dementia means that she does need some extra care and attention and this has been professionally and consistently provided for
her, from our initial visit to the care in helping her to settle. All the staff are very kind and caring in supporting the residents and their families.

I’m an experienced nurse and care Home Manager and I joined Care UK in early 2019.


I used to work in one of the organisation’s Edinburgh care homes. Care UK’s values and ethos of care chimed with my own personal approach to care, so I was keen to join this forward-thinking organisation.


Being an effective home manager demands a range of skills, from great people skills to good organisational ability. It’s vital to have a holistic and proactive approach as well. Far and away the best part of my day is spending time with residents and seeing them enjoying a superb quality of life.


I’m passionate about delivering excellent care and I love working as part of our committed and skilled team here at Trymview Hall. We put residents and their families first and foremost in everything we do. We’re proud of our ‘good’ CQC rating, and I’m looking forward to supporting the team to achieve even greater things.
