Ben Care Centre is Coventry’s Community Centre for the over 55s

Helping members to build their confidence and independence through activities, outings and being part of a great community. Open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, their mission is to support each member to get the most out of every day.

The Ben Centre is Coventry's leading community centre for the over 55s with and without dementia, designed to help to members enjoy a more sociable life and develop their independence.

Members are welcome to visit as much or as little as they wish each week and can take part in a range of activities, both within the centre and in the community. This offers older adults the opportunity to make friends, enjoy a varied and active retirement and find new interests.

The Ben Centre plans its activities around the interests and hobbies of its members so there is always something for everybody, from games and entertainment at the centre, through to pub lunches, visits to garden centres and dance classes.

Freshly prepared and nutritious meals are prepared daily for members, who are welcome to get involved in helping in the kitchen if they wish. And they sometimes have a cheeky takeaway when they fancy!
Members can also enjoy fresh air and sunshine relaxing in the secure garden area, this is open all year round for those who like to wander with a purpose.

An experienced, qualified care team ensures the standard of care provided is consistently high while retaining long-established values of kindness and compassion. Ben Day Care is proud of employing dedicated and trained staff, who know and understand individual members’ needs.

Very good for people with dementia. The games played are fun and I enjoy mixing with people who have the same problem. The staff are wonderful and are dedicated.

I am happily enjoying the centre because it is good for me as I can't go out myself so they pick me up. I enjoy my meals, the staff are very good and make me happy. I have been going here for a long time. I like it and look forward to going and then coming home. Thanks.

My father has been attending the Day Care Centre for 2 and a half years since my mum (his main carer) passed away. Without the centre, my dad, who has dementia, wouldn't still be living in his own house with a great deal of support from others also. The centre deals with my dad's challenging dementia
excellently and we have excellent communication with them keeping us informed of any issues that may occur.

The staff are very friendly and professional. My husband is picked up and dropped off by minibus and occasionally I am asked to bring him in myself if possible. My husband is provided with a lunchtime meal and is encouraged to take part in activities. I feel that I am able to phone or call in to speak
with staff of I have any question or concerns. My husband, although he doesn't remember his day, looks forward to going back. He is unable to write or sign his name but is still able to take part in activities.

My husband really didn't want to go to a day centre but since he has been going, he has taken to the day with people he has got to know and likes the staff.
He always seems to have enjoyed the company and makes a change to be with other people.

My husband has only been attending the Day Care Centre for the past few weeks. I have been very happy with the care and support which has been provided, although I understand he does not always join in with the activities offered, probably due to the effect of his dementia.

An excellent day centre with very good facilities, food and activities. Staff are always very friendly and totally professional. My husband has been attending one day a week for almost a year. Due to Alzheimer's, his behaviour can sometimes be very challenging but he is always treated in a friendly
manner and with total dignity and respect. It gives me a very welcome break from caring and I can relax for a few hours knowing that he is being well cared for.

I have found the Ben Day Centre very professional and caring, in the true sense of the word. I am very happy with the care that my wife gets twice a week at the centre.
