We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Cook/Chef to join our dedicated team. We specialise in residential and dementia Care and our primary aim at Chevington Lodge is to create a supportive and homely environment, respecting and enabling our Residents to live with us to achieve a happy and fulfilling life.

The Cook/Chef will prepare meals, have the responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals and snacks following pre-set menus to ensure meals are nutritious, appetising and meet dietary needs of our residents
  • Undertake stock control, reporting goods to be ordered to the relevant senior staff to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
  • Undertake the cleaning of the kitchen and surrounding areas and also of equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high level
  • To cooperate to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and the Health and Safety policies and procedures of the organisation.

Key requirements include:

  • To treat all residents as individuals, ensuring that their personal choices and preferences are respected at all times.
  • You will need to be reliable, highly motivated and have excellent communication skills
  • You will need to be able to work well in a team a liaise with other staff, and residents.
  • Experience in kitchen based environment.
  • Have satisfactory levels of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Behave in courteous manner at all times towards residents, relatives, local health officials, social workers and other general visitors.
  • Ideally you will have prior experience within a care setting. Hold NVQ or QCF Level 2 in a relevant field.
