Oakland Court, Felpham, are looking for a Senior Night Care
Assistant. You will work as part of a team providing high-quality
person-centred care to the residents, ensuring you meet their specific
and individual needs.
As part of the Senior Care Team and under the direct supervision of
Registered Manager, the Senior Care Assistant provides direct
high-quality care to residents. Working three nights a week, 20:00 -
08:00 to ensure the right provisions of care are available in the
home. To respect the dignity, privacy, and choice of all residents and
courtesy, actively engaging with them to create a stimulating and home
from home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all information relating to resident’s care plans reflects
the care required and are relevant.
- Ensure all documentation contained on Nourish is updated at the
end of each shift and monitor the quality of recordings made by
junior care staff.
- Providing personal care, including toileting, bathing, dressing,
and grooming.
- Administering medication as prescribed and keeping accurate records.
- Assisting with cleaning and tidying of the care home during the
night shift.
- Assist with the induction of new staff members.
- Assist with the training of all grades of staff where appropriate
and identify any training which staff would find beneficial.
- Maintain effective communications with residents and relatives and
all involved in the decisions about their care.
- Liaise with all care professionals as part of an effective
multi-disciplinary approach to care.
- Mentor staff and act as a role model through your work, approach,
and professional behaviour.
- Carry out supervisions with the identified group of staff
Identifying risks involved in work activities (in relation to both
resident’s and staff) and undertake them in a way that manages the risks.
- Use and encourage others to adopt appropriate infection control procedures.
- To ensure the Home Manager is aware of accidents and incidents and
complete the appropriate documentation.
- Notify the Home Manager of any deficiencies and shortages of
equipment or supplies.
- Ensure faulty or defective equipment is removed from use and
reported appropriately for repairs to be carried out.
- Report/Handover welfare updates of residents to care staff and
pass on instructions to other members of staff.
- Ensuring staff are aware of daily changes in a resident’s
condition or treatment by communicating changes to other members of
staff at the home.
- Ensure relevant information about residents are included in the
handover at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Maintain personal contact with residents throughout your working shift.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.
- Attend training as required by the Home Manager.
- Assist in the delivery of training for other staff in line with
experience and skill levels.
- Ensure your own actions support equality, diversity and act in
ways that recognise the importance of people's rights, interpreting
them in a way that is consistent with procedures.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of residents,
family members and staff.
- Understand basic legal and communication issues regarding abuse,
family violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse and addictive behaviour.
About You:
Hold NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or be working
towards an NVQ 3 vocational qualification. You will need to have the
ability to understand the needs of the residents, be compassionate and
work well as part of a team.
