We are seeking a Caring, kind & Reliable Night Carer to join us at St Martins Care Home. We are a small modern Home and pride ourselves in offering a high standard of Care. We are a family and have our residents best interest at heart, we offer person centered care and cater to everyones individual needs. We are currently going through a major refurb and our home is looking amazing, Residents & Staff have all had an input in the decor of the home and their rooms & have all really enjoyed it.

Job Details 

42 Hours per Week (Must be flexible on working pattern)

£12 Per Hour

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assist the management in the day-to-day running of the service.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to meet the needs of our service users over a 24-hour period.
  • Ensure compliance with the policies & procedures of our service.
  • Ensure completion of all documentation and familiarise yourself with standards and outcomes set out by the Care Quality Commission.
  • Implement those standards throughout the working day and passing on this knowledge onto the support staff.
  • Liaise effectively with the service users’ families, visitors, health professionals and multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Ensure confidentiality of information of both our service users and the company.
  • Complete / read the handover and communication book. A full handover from one senior to another and advising the staff changing over of all relevant information is essential.
  • Report all breeches in discipline, performance and / or conduct to the management team.
  • Supervise and guide staff effectively. Provide guidance and be proactive.
  • Teamwork is essential. Plan and delegate responsibilities and ensure that the plan is followed through by the use of effective communication and supervision.
  • Support the development of your team members, hold regular supervision meetings in line with company policy.
  • Attend regular meetings as directed by the management team.
  • Undertake additional duties as directed by the management team.
  • Carry out monthly updates to service users support plans.
  • Hold meetings with service users and their key workers to update their care plans and advise management of any issues or concerns.
  • Arrange 6 monthly internal reviews with management, service users and their families.
  • Update active support programmes, ensure staff are encouraging service user participation and completing the relevant paperwork. Audit the participation sheets monthly and complete the management summary sheets.
  • Carry out the administration of service user medication in accordance with the guidelines and policies and procedures. Ensuring that service users do not run out of medication, checking stock levels, checking mars sheets and completing audits when administering medication.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the service in the absence of the management team. Contact the on call manager for support and guidance if needed.

Personal development & Employment Details

  • Receive and complete an agreed induction plan in the first 6 weeks of employment.
  • Receive regular supervisions and annual appraisals with management.
  • Attend all training courses to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Attend staff meetings when required.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • • Must demonstrate a positive
  • professional attitude. • Display patience and empathy. • Minimum NVQ / Diploma Level 3 Health & Social Care. • Minimum of 2 years experience of working in a care setting. • Be able to demonstrate leadership skills within a care setting.
