The Activities Coordinator here at Joseph Lodge is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging and meaningful activities for the residents.

This role aims to enhance the quality of life for residents through social, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to their individual needs, preferences, and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Activity Planning & Implementation:

    • Develop a diverse monthly activity calendar that includes social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
    • Organise and facilitate group and individual activities that cater to the varied interests and abilities of residents.
    • Ensure activities promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
  • Resident Engagement:

    • Build rapport with residents to understand their interests and preferences.
    • Encourage resident participation and provide support during activities.
  • Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with care staff to integrate activities into residents' care plans.
    • Communicate regularly with the management team regarding residents' needs and suggestions for improving the activities program.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain records of residents' participation in activities and gather feedback to assess their effectiveness.
    • Manage budgets for activities and report on expenditures.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during activities.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated on best practices in activities coordination and engage in professional development.
    • Seek innovative ideas and resources for activities to continuously improve the program.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a care home or senior living setting.
  • A relevant qualification in leisure studies, social work, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and compassion for the elderly and those with varying care needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for planning engaging activities.
