Full Job Description
To provide high-quality nursing care at all times for the residents of Bennetts Castle and to assist in identifying and addressing the health and social care needs of a wide variety of residents. To take responsibility for the shift in the absence of the Home Manager or her Deputy. This incorporates monitoring all systems, including health and safety, security, potential client enquiries, telephone calls and liaising with visitors to the Home.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. To provide a high standard of direct nursing care to residents, based on the assessment of care needs and in consultation with the residents, their relatives and to lead the care team.
2. To continuously evaluate the quality of care given, and regularly reassess the needs of residents in consultation with the residents, their relatives and the care team, and to effect the change required to achieve planned goals.
3. To administer and order medicines.
4. To liaise with GP, Chiropodist, Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist, activities coordinator and other members of the care team.
5. To meet the requirements of the care planning process and implement the agreed person-centred care plans.
6. To work within the NMC codes of conduct and Scope of Practice, meeting the requirements of the Care Standards Act and within Bennetts Castle policies and procedures.
7. To continuously review your own nursing practices to develop new skills and knowledge through continuous professional development/training that contribute to the enhancement of the residents’ care via your skills and abilities.
8. To work closely with other members of the care team, ensuring the delivery of effective, high-quality care to achieve planned goals.
9. To ensure the safe, effective and efficient use of all home resources
10. To keep next of kin informed of significant changes in a resident’s needs or health care status.
11. To ensure Bennetts Castle provides support in the following areas: religious, cultural, emotional and psychological support for residents and their families.
12. To attend and participate in relevant staff meetings, fire lectures, training and study days.
13. To ensure that all members of staff receive induction training and thereafter ongoing supervision, training and development in line with the Home’s programme.
14. To directly manage the Healthcare Assistants in your team.
15. To perform additional administrative or management duties as delegated by the Manager and the Deputy Manager.
