Job Summary

To undertake duties related to the daily delivery of personal care and support to the residents in a person centered and holistic manner, in accordance with agreed programme’s of care under the guidance of senior staff.

Key Responsibilities

To support each resident to enable them to remain as active and independent as possible within the limitations of their condition.

To encourage and support each resident to do as much as possible for themselves in all aspects of daily living, including washing, dressing and continence.

To use initiative and imagination in helping residents succeed at familiar tasks, assisting them to deal with everyday difficulties which may arise from their memory problems or physical health.

To respect the residents' rights of choice, privacy and dignity and to be sensitive to each resident's needs.

To work flexibly, providing help with physical care as required to meet the care and support needs of the resident.

To maximise opportunities for the residents to enjoy previous hobbies, interest, social and religious preferences.

To work as an effective team member to achieve the personal goals of the resident through the implementation of agreed action, care and support plans.

To build and maintain relationships with residents including those whose understanding is impaired and their families through the application of good communication skills.

To take responsibility for the provision of holistic, individualised care and support for the resident by following the resident's personal care and support plans.

To provide daily opportunities for residents to choose to engage in social situations with personal meaning which engender a sense of community and fun.

To encourage residents to engage in physical exercises and activities to help to maintain and increase their strength and dexterity.

To support and assist residents with their mobility through the application of skills and knowledge obtained through training, ensuring that any equipment required is used in a safe and proper manner.

To assist with the serving of meals and drinks and to provide care and support where required to ensure that the resident receives a satisfactory food and fluid intake.

To complete and maintain all required daily records to demonstrate a complete record of the resident's social engagement, activities and physical care.

To work effectively as a team member or an individual to maintain a stimulating and homely environment for each resident,

To respect the residents' rights for privacy and to demonstrate consistently high standards of propriety at work.

To understand and maintain confidentiality at all times.

To cooperate with other professionals, residents and relatives to achieve the best possible outcome for each resident.

To attend and complete training as required to update skills and maintain a complete record of training.

To attend staff meetings and actively support the development of the home. To read and be aware of the policies and procedures of the Amberley Care Home.

To maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors and colleagues through an awareness of the statutory requirements for fire, health and safety, and manual handling.

To undertake any other activities which may be deemed necessary by the senior Staff in the home.

Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults .

To complete training on Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and be able to understand and implement SVA policies and procedures taking responsibility for reporting any safeguarding concerns to the senior person on duty or to the Home Manager.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or above.
