Care and service Provision: 

1. Ensure the highest possible levels of care are provided and maintained by supporting/assisting service users when required with washing, toileting,  dressing, undressing and all other aspects of daily living

2. Assist service users in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual), paying attention to details and ensuring service users retain their comfort, and dignity and maintain their independence as far as possible

3. Pay particular attention when assisting service users who have limited mobility or physical difficulties making the best use of aids provided

4. Closely monitor service users who may be confused and or who have behavioural problems

5. Assist in the promotion of continence

6. Assist in the delivery of care for service users where end of life is imminent or who have a progressive illnesses and assist with last offices

7. Work to the set care plans and risk management plans and complete written daily records, charts, etc. as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures

8. Provide social and leisure activities by interacting with service users and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Centre

9. As Co Worker allocated to a group of service users, ensure that they each have enough toiletries, personal clothing, etc and liaise with families/relatives when stocks are running low.  Ensure all personal clothing is labelled.  Ensure bedrooms are clean and personalised

10. Answer Nurse Call system, giving assistance as required.  Report on the well-being of service users to senior staff

11. Carry out regular checks on service users at intervals as determined by senior Staff Members

12. Make visitors feel welcome.  Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required

13. Make and change beds ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy and commode are empty in line with the Care Centre’s disposal of waste policy.  Ensure the Care Centre’s resources are used appropriately

14. Clean and maintain equipment used by services users e.g. wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles etc.  Ensure the Care Centre is kept clean and tidy in line with the Company’s attention to details philosophy

15. Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved in line with the Company’s policies and procedures

16. Assist service users who need help with nutrition and hydration (be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements, etc.) and ensure that all service users have adequate intake of food and drink. Assist with serving of food/drinks as requested/required.  Wash up as requested/required

17. Escort service users travelling to and from the Care Centre e.g. on social outings, hospital visits, etc.

18. Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Clients personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Clients.

19. Report to the Person in Charge in a timely manner, of any critical issues that have may an adverse effect on the provision of care and services to the service users. 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Skills/Qualifications: • Genuine interest in and experience of working with elderly people with and without dementia • Ability to communicate in English to an acceptable level • Satisfactory DBS Check and check against the ISA list • Past relevant experience in a care set up or similar • Willingness to undertake and complete NVQ level or equivalent within the first 12 months of employment
