Reports to: Care Home Manager/Registered Nurse
Job Summary: The Senior Care Assistant is responsible
for providing high-quality care and support to residents in a nursing
home. This role involves leading a team of care assistants, ensuring
the delivery of personalized care plans, and promoting the physical
and emotional well-being of residents. The Senior Care Assistant acts
as a key point of contact for residents, their families, and other
healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:

Resident Care:
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing,
dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor for side effects.
- Carry out regular health checks and monitor residents'
conditions, reporting any concerns to the nursing staff.

Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of care assistants,
ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
- Provide guidance and training to new staff and assist in the
development of existing team members.
- Conduct regular team meetings and ensure effective
communication within the care team.

Care Planning:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing personalized
care plans for residents.
- Ensure care plans are updated regularly and reflect the
changing needs of residents.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, such as doctors and
therapists, to ensure comprehensive care.

Health and Safety:
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in accordance with
health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all equipment is used correctly and safely.
- Report and document any incidents or accidents promptly and
follow up on corrective actions.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Accurately record care provided and any changes in residents' conditions.
- Maintain up-to-date records and ensure confidentiality is upheld.
- Prepare reports for handovers and attend regular meetings with
nursing and management staff.

Family and Resident Communication:
- Build positive relationships with residents and their
families, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
- Support residents in maintaining contact with family and friends.
- Organize and participate in social and recreational activities
to enhance residents' quality of life.

Compliance and Professional Development:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Stay updated with best practices in elderly care and attend
relevant training sessions.
- Act as a role model for junior staff, demonstrating a high
standard of professionalism and care.
Qualifications and Skills:

Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Previous experience in a senior care role within a nursing
home or similar environment.
- Medication administration training and certification.

Working Conditions:
